MY THANKS to everyone for stopping by my place today...
*
it shades most of the yard and this year,
MADE MORE PECANS THAN IT EVER HAS !!
Woo Hoo...
I LOVE pecans and put them in nearly everything I bake....
*
*
our backs, picking them all up...
SOME of the pecans are still clinging to the tree, however..
so granddaughter, BAILEY KAY,
decided she would get some of them down....
GOOD GRIEF.... this is a 40 ft. tree !!
*
"You're getting toooooo high, Bailey...."
*
"OK, I'm coming down."....
Whew...it looks like she is falling a loooong way but actually she was
pretty close to the ground here...GOOD JOB, BAILEY..
*
We took 80 lbs to the custom sheller
and got back
about 10 or 11 quart size bags...
some went to family, some to friends...
and some to our freezer...!!
We still have more to pick up, 2 grocery sacks full to take
to the sheller and probably more will fall off the tree...
LOTS of pecans this year...
I LOVE IT !!
*
Oh, yeah.....and some went into a
PECAN PIE.. ;)
*
IT CAN'T GET MUCH BETTER THAN THIS when you love PECAN PIE...
*
As good as ALL Pecan pies are, somehow, they seem to taste even BETTER
when you've grown the pecans yourself.... I feel like a farmer.... ;O)

That is one courageous child! :)
I really enjoy pecans too.
TTFN~~Claudia
ohhhh girl..pecan pie is my all time favorite pie!!!! That tree is a great producer....I remember sitting and cracking pecans when I was little..it seemed like it took forever to get enough for a pie! lol No wonder you are so blessed with such an abundant supply..look how freely you share with your heart anything you have...love that about you girl! Have a great week! ~♥~
Wow, I've never seen a pecan tree. Thanks for sharing. Your pecan pie made my mouth water. Yum!
My darling FIL does this for us. He has pecans all over the place! Love your photos!
That is a lot of pecans! Cute monkey in the tree! Have a blessed day:)
GM BJ, Oh pecan pie,it is my very favorite. You are so lucky to have that beautiful pecan tree and such a huge crop. We'll stop in GA, on our way home and buy my supply for the year. They are so fresh.
Love Ya,
Chris
Peacans are my favourites! ... looks absolutely scrumptious.
Love the pics of your young tree climber ;-))
Oh you lucky lucky girl!!
OH, how wonderfu, BJness! Love that pecan tree and your little granddaughter is a little heroine! Climbing up so high!
Man, look at all those pecans! Love 'em and you went right to work and baked a pie! It looks so good!
BE a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
A pecan tree, wow. Never heard of that before your post..thanks for visiting.
Yes, I'm posting live from my apartment on a slooow computer. I will work on that.
Now, about those pecans... I'm heading on over for some of that pie!
OH BJ, What beautiful pecans and such a large tree. We have some little ones but I wonder if I will live to get any pecans....with this heat, we are losing some little trees.
Happy Outdoor Wednesday!
Barbara
Oh yeah!! My favorite pie, too. There is nothing like west Texas pecans. Anyone going to Texas from Colorado always brings back pecans. Yum. Sally
Oh My! You lucky woman! I love pecans and they can be so expensive. That pie looks like Grandma used to make. You make such tempting goodies!
Love pecans and you have a wonderful tree there...great post...
I am absolutely green with envy! We adore pecans and to harvest them from our yard would be a real treat. I loved your photos. Blessings...Mary
WOW...... look at the savings...... and fresh pecans..... we southern girls love our pecans..... Oh my that pie looks amazing......
Hugs
Linda
I'm with Mary, a pecan tree in your yard, I am so jealous! I drive to Lane Farms in Georgia every year to stock up on pecans and their jarred peaches. The peaches where I live are terrible and they do all the work for me. What goes together better than pecans and peaches?
However, I do have an old family friend in Fort Worth who always sends me some for my holiday pies.
wow you lucky girl BJ!! That tree is amazing, I go crazy picking out the sugared pecans when I buy a can of mixed nuts! I never see them sold separately up here. Makes my mouth water seeing those bags of pecans! xo
I nearly fell out of my chair when I saw all the bags of pecans, BJ! You lucky thing! EVERYTHING tastes better if it has pecans in it, right?!
And I would have been a nervous wreck watching your cutie pie granddaughter so high up in that tree. Yikes!
lucky lucky, shade and snacks all in one
Wow - I could make myself so sick with all those! I sure wish the trees would grow in our climate.
wow...those are some huge bags of pecans!
Oh I LOVE LOVE LOVE pecans, you are so lucky. Pecan Pie - yummm. What fun and how beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
OH MY GOODNESS! Fresh pecan right in your yard! bj...I just said I wasn't jealous of THINGS but ...I AM jealous of those delicious pecans...and all for free! They are beautiful..
I keep a bag in my freezer..(Costo of course!) and nibble on them in the evening...my favorite nut!
That pie looks delicious...just delicious!!
Mom and Dad had one in their front yard..but it was cut down just before they passed away. Many a wonderful after noon were spent under that tree...and many a wonderful pie or dessert were made from those pecans.
I LOVED this post!!
~smiles and love~
Mona
Wow...what a bumper crop of Pecans!
And the pie looks scrumptious, as Mama always said.
This reminds me of my Papa...he had Black Walnut trees and grew peanuts.
As a child shelling them was a novelty...but I understand why you take them to the sheller...you'd be shelling til your fingers were nubs! LOL
Pecans are my all-time favorite nut. I wish I had a pecan tree. I have a pear tree, but oddly enough I don't like pears. I remember climbing those trees as a child. Fearless!
Brenda
Wow, I can't believe all the pecans you got off that tree. My handsome husband would be so jealous, he loves pecans!!!
OH WOW, What a Harvest!!! Fantastic!!!!!!!
I love pecan pie! My two Kens don't like it so I only get it when I go to church potlucks.
I have an Aunt in NC that gives me pecans when I get down there which I haven't for a while. You have an awesome tree.
During the early 60's my first husband was in the USAF. He was stationed at Barksdale, in Louisiana. We used to go out on the base reservation to pick pecans, in the big pecan grove, every year. I wonder if those trees are still there.
Your pie look so good, BJ!
Hello BJ!
Oh my do I love pecan pie!!:o) For me when it comes to pie there are few pies that come close!:o) Your photos are wonderful and what a beautiful tree. I could sit down with a bag of those fresh pecans and a tall glass of ice tea and oh my goodness don't bother me.:o)
Smiles...
Beverly
OMG, a pecan tree..that's awesome. We have a black walnut tree in our yard, and it's such a pain to pick them all up. Not only picking, but you have to do some kind of drying thingie..no idea what it is!
Hey, heard from Justine, that you're a farmer on facebook...send me your "handle" and I'll add you as a buddy!
Hugz,
Michele
Okay, that's it. I love pecans, and I'm on my way over to your house right this minute.
Please have some pecan pie left when I get there.
Holy cow, that's a lot of pecans! Not my favorite nut by far, but it must be fun to have them falling from the tree right in your yard. I can't believe you actually have a "custom sheller" there. Holy cow. I learn something new every day.
Do you spell huge like that on purpose? something that I've missed? I've just noticed it a few times and always in capitals.
Justine :o )
That was so interesting! I never knew there were professional shellers..
And you are right, I bet the pie tastes great as you grew the nuts!
Pecan pie...my favorite!! Yum! Looks like you had a great helper picking pecans! Fun shots! Thanks for sharing! ~~Rhonda
Wow Bj how lucky you are to have your own pecan tree ! I would eat myself silly !
That is a lot of pecans! Just love the pie! I have not made one in years! Bake me one! lol
bj - PECAN PIE is my FAVORITE pie ever. And having pecan tree's at my grandma's house when I was growing up is one of the most missed parts of Texas. I loved them! They are such fantastic shade trees - and strong, too! As your little monkey demonstrated! :) So happy that you have so many bags ... wanna send one up to NY? LOL! J/K! I'd take a pie though! LOL!
Wow! That's a lot of pecans! The pie looks yummy!...Christine
