paying attention to the table....vintage style....

Oh, boy...one of my favorite days of the week !
VINTIGE THINGIE THURSDAY
with SUZANNE of COLORADO LADY as our host ....
If you like VINTAGE, be sure to go over and see what she is showing today..
You'll find a long list of others that love vintage, too....
*
It's time to play with our dishes and tables and have a really fun time because.....
IT'S TABLESCAPE THURSDAY with our sweet SUSAN at her BETWEEN NAPS ON THE PORCH.
I THINK she is awake now, so go over....GENTLY....and see her and all the other wonderful
ladies and gent showing off their talents...
since I started playing with SUSAN on tablescapes,
i have learned that there is TRULY an art to designing your table...
i have so much to learn but already know more than i ever have before,
thanks to all you lovely bloggers that really knows how to make a table
beautiful and comfortable...
i must say that i am always a little intimidated about posting
my tablescapes...i can't even BEGIN to catch up to the fabulous
tablescapes i see all over blogland...i just have fun playing along.
THIS today is not actually a TABLESCAPE as much as it is
just practicing....
*
Thank you so much for coming by my place today..
*
and....GUESS WHAT !!??
NEW DISHES.....
well..........NEW thrifted dishes...the very best kind...
*
ESTATE SALE....at the end of my block...
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL
CREME WARE !!!!!!
I was MORE than excited when I saw these beauties just sitting there...waiting for ME..!!
VERY old style...just like me !
just as vintage as they can be...just like me !
*

Service for TEN (10)
2 SERVING BOWLS
1 DIVIDED BOWL
HUGH PLATTER
CUPS, SAUCERS, SALAD BOWLS
LITTLE SOMETHINGS THAT I don't even know what they are...
salt (no pepper) or Pepper (no salt) :O)
i am so excited over them...
'cause the whole kit and kboodle cost me $48.00
FORTY EIGHT BUCKS !
*oh, dear...it just dawned on me that i am going to have
to make some drapes for some room in my cottage so that
i can HIDE these dishes...just like GOLLUM does !!

i just had to play with them a little bit....
used the fabulous set of place mats, napkins and napkin rings,
in the creme and khaki colors I love...
from sweet SARAH at A BEACH COTTAGE'S giveaway a few months back.... she has the CUTEST blog with photos of her adorable, mostly BEACHY WHITE beach cottage....
*
I LOVE the fruit, flower and leaf design on the dishes
the description on the back of the dishes...VERNON AULIGUA by METLOX, U.S.A.
I need to google and see if I can get any info on them...
not that it matters...I LOVE 'EM....
i just saw a dinner plate on Ebay for 10.00...
*

i can already see how versatile these are going to be...
pretty sure you will be seeing them used with all kinds of different things....
it will be fun !
i'm going to make some pretty napkins...
they are so easy to make and you can choose just what you want....
dark green place mats would be luscious beneath these creamy plates...
*

have a glass of blackberry wine
with me to make a toast to.....
MY PRETTY, NEW, OLD DISHES....

old book and old wines....."

I LOVE your new dishes. How did dishes land up on sale anyway...they are sooooo nice! They have a lovely colour and the different pieces are different and lovely pattern. They go great with the napkins and placemats too.
Did you make the napkins?
enjoy...

Wow, I love those dishes! You sure got a great bargain on them. You're right, they will be good with anything! I do love the creams and tans in this setting. You're also right that napkins are so easy to make! It was well worth the cost of the fabric to make them considering that even the very cheapest of napkins will be at least a dollar a piece, and anything in a pretty print is guaranteed to cost around $4 each.

Thanks for the compliments on my tablescape!

Hi BJ! Your dishes are gorgeous. I love them combined with the silver pieces AND with your beach cottage placemats.

We have our annual neighborhood garage sale this weekend. I confess that I've always hated it because 1,378,296 cars come down our street. :) This year I'm gonna grab my $1 bills and go hunting.

What a find! Beautiful creamware dishes. I've got the Metlox Sculptured Daisy pattern. There is no mistaking that company's dishes. Great detailing. They were very popular in the mid-seventies. My aunt bought the blue grapes pattern they made.
