SWEET PINK DREAMS....

The room on the left is MY guest room and the room on the right is what
I WISH was my guest room,
but.....well.....
let me show you what I've done....
*
PINK SATURDAY.
hosted by BEVERLY at HOW SWEET THE SOUND
Please go by and see what she is offering up today and
while you are there, leave her some sweet words.
Look around at all the PINKS that are awaiting your visit...
OUR PRAYER BALLOONS,
reminding us to pray for all those
that are in need...that is pretty much everyone...
AND OUR COUNTRY !
*
just a gentle reminder to be sure your
have your mammogram this year !
* ***************************************************
I have 2 cousins that are coming to spend a long weekend with me in not too long and I wanted to fluff up my guest room for the sisters !
If you read me very much, you know that I operate on a tight, TIGHT
SOCIAL SECURITY BUDGET...
and have very little dollars left to use for decorating...
It's a great thing that I dearly love THRIFTING, hu !!
*
Soooo....NOT HAVING MUCH TIME and NO extra money to spend...
I have to work with what I've got....
Here is the basic colors of the poor, little cottage bedroom..
*
*
The walls, a very light PINK...
and you can see THE BORDER...
I made cottage curtains, using the darker pink ...
white sheers.
Oh....I WANTED White Plantation Shutters on these double windows...
maybe later ! Sure would look cute!
*
I needed NEW art work for one wall but....no funds for THAT ....
and then I turned around and saw THESE...!!
did i read somewhere that personal photos should not be
used in a guest room? PHOOEY on that!
I LOVE my personal photos of our grandchildren in
ANY room...!
Even a PINK room !! ;O)
and I know the COUSINS will like them !
*
You can see this little honey reflected in the mirror...
and ......I LOVE 'EM !
I wish they were in white frames instead of the shiny brass..
if I have time, I will paint them....
*
These are faux but I will get a bouquet
of fresh flowers just before the
COUSINS are due to arrive...
Hope I can find somthing in these colors..I think I can...
*
I needed a new lamp in the worst way ...and just
lucked out at an estate sale down the street from me
a few days ago...
I LOVE this wall lamp...just LOVE IT !
It's shiny brass, too...I'm trying to decide if I should
spray paint it a soft white....???
What do you think?
*
*
See the rosey border up there...
No time to remove it...really don't wanna....not gonna !
I CAN'T HELP IT...I LOVE MY PINK ROSE BORDER!!
and it looks good in a little cottage bedroom painted
a soft, soft pink.....!!
The COUSINS won't give a flip if borders are OUT !!
*
EVERY bedroom needs a chair....or a bench...or a loveseat....
THIS little wicker chair has been all over my house at one time or another..
Now it will rest in the COUSINS bedroom for awhile....

just a little sweetness....
*
Such an ugly, Plain Jane mirror but....no funds for a new one right now ! bummer....
I tried these little vintage blue and white plates around it and it actually looks pretty good....
do you think?
I wonder, tho, if WHITE plates might look better ?
It's just that I HAVE these blue and whites...and not enuf WHITES to use ....
so it's blue plates for now....
NOTICE the ugly UGLY painting in the mirror...I took it down
and added the grandson pictures....
*

Another little treasure from my momma....
"Home Sweet Home"
*
See the little vintage BED LAMP ....
I had one just like it on my bed when I was a teenager...wonder what ever happened to it ?
GARAGE SALE PROBABLY !
*
* I'm keeping my mind open to something a little more
light and airy for the space over the bed...
not even sure just what I'd like there.hmmmm...
Maybe an old window frame, with shutters on the sides.....
like PAT'S ...the one she has in her condo at the lake.....
Yep...I'd love that !!
I really, REALLY want to make this guest room into
COUNTRY FRENCH...
even this vintage iron bed a friend gave to me would look
fabulous in a French setting...
in the meantime...
...I can hardly wait to hear the COUSINS
giggling in there and calling 'Good Night" ......
just like when we were all kids, growing up together...
*
just can't wait !!
*

shhhhh.....night night....
see you in the morning light....

XO bj

Oh gee, I thought I was going to get an invite to come stay the weekend with you! LOL

That room is darling and I'm sure they will love staying in there. Looks like a cute little B&B.

Yes I would paint the frames and the lamp white though.

I like the blue plates. Also, you could always just buy some cheap moulding and frame the mirror. It will make it look brand new. Plus if you ask nicely they will even miter the corners for you at Home Depo or Lowes.

Hugs,
Joanne

But it turned out to be such a lovely guest room. Aren't we all glad sometimes when we only have enough money to spare? Why? We will then be able to see the treasures hidden even in our own homes. :-)

I'm sure they will have a good night sleep (your grandchildren are so cute :-) )

Happy Pink Saturday!

How cute! The lamp is so neat! And so is the one above the bed. I have never seen anything like that but that is the best idea! It looks so charming :)

That is a cozy inviting room BJ! Oh, Joanne had a great idea about adding some molding around the mirror.

Your cousins are going to enjoy their stay in your cozy home.

Oops, I didn't know the rule about no family photos in the guest room. Our mountain house is decorated with photos of us with our daughter. I didn't want the house to look empty, so I filled it with pictures.

Have a blessed Saturday!

Your guests will absolutely love their room! You are so sweet to fuss over their surroundings and comfort like you do. But that's you, you're such a sweetie!!

Have a wonderful time with them!

Anyone would consider themselves blessed to be able to stay in such a lovely and warm guest room. I love what you've done. The Sisters will love being surrounded by family pictures as they get ready for night night. The plates on the mirror....just the right touch! You also got an awesome find with that eagle lamp. I think it will look great white but it also looks great just how it is.

Oh BJ,

I agree with Joanne on painting the frames and lamp white. You are well on your way to Country French.

Happy Pink Saturday.

You're making the room such a cozy, hospitable haven for the sisters! You're doing it with love - that's better than all the money for decor! The lamp with the flowers really makes the room look so pretty. And I love the plates around the mirror.

They will have a wonderful time visiting you. I wish you the best Pink Saturday!

BJ, I love your guest bedroom ~ sooo cozy! I'd love to come stay in that pretty room. Love the bedding & all the soft colors, the new wall lamp, the plates around the mirror. I do that, too! You might try adding a lacy curtain panel swag (or lacy tablecloth) over the top of the plain mirror to dress it up a bit if you don't like it as it is. I think it is all lovely.

Happy Pink Saturday,

I think what you've done with your Cousin Guest room is fantastic. I wouldn't change the plates around the mirror - I think the white plates would blend in too much. And if the new wall lamp looks good I wouldn't paint it - only if it stood out too much. Thanks for the great tour and inspiration.

BJ-
You are so sweet! What a great find We would grab that can of white spray paint and spray away! If the results are too stark ...then just use a bit of extra fine sandpaper to expose the edges a bit! If the coat of paint is thin enough, even a bit torn from a brown paper grocery sack will do the trick- just enough friction!! the plates look beautiful around the mirror- a perfect solution! You can even 'paint a frame' around the mirror using white paint and a brush directly on the wall (all the more to show off that sweet grandson!)! And if you like...a crisp white shade would finish off your fab new find!

Now, I may not be as smart as your blogging friends, but I love that room just the way you have it; brass lamp and picture frames and all. The brass lamp kind of blends in with the picture frames seems to me, but what do I know. Anyway, the cousins are going to love sleeping in that little room and spending time with you. After all the time with you is what they're coming for. The precious room is just a bonus!
Love you much!

Hi BJ, nothing like a day late and a dollar short. I didn't get much visiting done yesterday. We did some spring clean up in the yard most of the day. Well, I watched and gave directions mostly. That's my job. :)

Your guest room is so pretty. I like the tweaking but the room is already lovely. I too love the border, I don't care what the decorators say! I think the lamp should not be painted. I think it looks great just the way it is. Paint the frames if you must. Smiling.

Great pink and the dishes are the perfect added touch.

Hugs...Jeanne
