THIS IS FROM HGTV:

"Blue is being used in a variety of new ways to start a design conversation in every room of the house.
From blue and white porcelain to bedding and window treatments, blue is finding its way into more and more rooms as designers find it calming, timeless, versatile and genderless.
Blue combines most readily and traditionally with white. They can almost be considered earth tones together, bringing a sense of natural color and glow to any room.
Blue is a color that asks to be repeated and this can happen with small touches . Pieces of blue and white china, some throw pillows or blue lampshades on simple white lamps can bring a subtle accent into any space. "

ACTUALLY, I WANT THIS KITCHEN !
The Cornflower blue of these subway tiles REALLY look great with the snow white of the cabinets, don't you think ?
oooo, I wish MY kitchen was this clean !!
THIS Country Blue kitchen is so cute. I'm not real sure all the open shelves would last in MY kitchen long.
For one thing I live in WEST TEXAS where there's lots of dust storms....another....I tend to like lots of "stuff" but I like it more controlled than these shelves might offer....It sure is full of cuteness, tho !
I am seriously thinking of removing my 2 doors beneath the sink and replace, FOR AWHILE, with
some cute curtains.....such a great look !! ...soft...
even just a TOUCH of blue makes such a statement.... I guess it's because the blue and white combo is so hard to beat...and so classic.
NOW, this one seems to be a favorite with a LOT of bloggers...it's long been a favorite of mine...
that screen door....OH ! HONEY!
I have no idea where this photo came from but, oh, I do love this kitchen! If ever I get tired of RED, I will have a BLUE and WHITE one, I am thinking.....???
* shhhh...if Mr. SweetNothings should hear the rumor that I want to REPAINT those RED cabinets AGAIN,
he could pass a kidney stone....

OH....and this is some sweetness for RECHELLE over at WALNUTHAVEN COTTAGE......
I hear that she ADORES Mr. GENE KELLY......me, too, Rechelle....I was in love with him all my young life !
bwaaaaaa, I SURE DO MISS HIM !
Have you ever noticed that most kitchens were some shade of blue in the olden days?? Most country kitchens anyway?? Do you know why??
ReplyDeleteFLIES don't like the blue.. and they thought the flies would saty out of the kitchen that way :-) Smart, huh!??
Those kitchens looks wonderful.. mine is red and white too!
Monica
You found some gorgeous kitchens, BJ! I love that blue checkered backsplash, also.
ReplyDeleteOh that pantry door! I want it!
ReplyDeleteActually, the ceilings on covered porches are supposedly painted blue for the same reason Monica mentions about kitchens. Apparently it helps keep flies -- and mosquitoes -- from invading. True or not I don't know. I can't imagine an insect being repelled by a color, but stranger things have happened I guess.
ReplyDeleteI could work with the last three of these... The rest? Might be a bit much for my taste.
I think I just love kitchens, although I would love to have a screen door like the one blue one. I didn't know that flies don't like blue... I might try painting my porch blue and see what might happen!
ReplyDeleteI always get a little excited when you show favorite rooms B.J. You always choose the prettiest rooms I've ever seen! Love these kitchens even though I have not been a big fan of blue and white until recently! I think I saw too much of that greyish country blue with geese in the seventies and it really turned me off, but now I see cobalt blues and robins egg blues and they are something altogether different! I have even begun collecting blue and white dishes!
ReplyDeleteI lean toward the small touches of blue coupled with those brilliant yellow lemons. Thanks for sharing. Happy Blue Monday!
ReplyDeleteOooh I think I like them all! Of course since I love blue/white I would like them! Thanks for sharing the pictures. I think I found something in each one that I wished were in my kitchen!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Susan
GM BJ...now I like what Monica just said ..wonder if that true..and girl I have had a blue and white kitchen for over 30 years..I have always loved those colors..just been adding Yellow to mine this past year..You found some great kitches today..thanks for sharing...Happy Blue Monday to you girl!! hugs and smiles Gl♥ria
ReplyDeleteBJ, I loved this post! Oh, those kitchens are snazzy. I like the one with the blue check backsplash best, but I love that blue Victorian door in another and the cool farm sink in yet another! Good job bringnig us some mighty neat blue!
ReplyDeleteHappy Blue Monday (I dare not abbreviate!)...
XO,
Sheila :-)
Great music! In our last home our kitchen was blue and I really enjoyed the softness. Now I have a bright red wall and the 'cheeriness' of it brightens my day:-) It is funny the way we have a continual need for change! I really enjoyed the kitchens you shared.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week, BJ!
♥♥♥
What a great idea for "Blue Monday," BJ. I enjoyed seeing all of those pretty kitchens and love the Victorian screen door idea. Wish I had a place to put one!
ReplyDeleteHope your "Blue Monday" is a sunny one!
Sincerely,
Janie
That last kitchen speaks to my heart!! Love the vintage feel to it...like someone has lovingly cooked many a meal in there.
ReplyDeleteOh these are some great kitchens you found. Happy Monday to you!!
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful kitchens, any would make me happy. I love the curtains under the sink...I might try that too. Happy Blue Monday to you...hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteI love the kitchen you love too, and also the last photo w/ the beautiful blue/white plates! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteSo many pretty kitchens, I wish mine was pretty too. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLove the kitchen pics. Although I don't really do blue, I love blue and yellow together. Now that screen door is just to die for isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI adore that blue screen door in that kitchen! Well the entire kitchen is great, lol.
ReplyDeleteHope you are off to a great week!
Michelle
Good Morning BJ
ReplyDeleteYou always make me sigh with all the great pictures. Those kitchens would put my little one to shame, but I still love it.
Happy Blue Monday
Love Claudie
xoxox
Love all those kitchens...especially the one with the huge farm sink :0)
ReplyDeleteThanks for my special treat today. love, love, love Gene Kelly. Always have. Singing in the Rain was the first GK movie I ever saw and I watched it with my mom when I was just a young thing. I've been hooked ever since. One of my favorite things to do, especially on a cold or rainy day, is to curl up on the couch with a steaming cup of tea/cocoa or coffee, pop in a GK movie and just relax and enjoy...ahhhhh.
You're just to nice!
Enjoy your day!!!
aww what a calming post, I've never heard of the flies & blue thing LOL that screen door for the pantry door ohhh my goodness!
ReplyDeleteHelen
All of those kitchen are so beautiful! Speaking of beautiful I love your new layout.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day,
ginger
Oh wow! I love all of those blue kitchens. My kitchen is white so it would be really easy for me to add blue. Hummm.... Now you have my wheels turning. Happy blue Monday!
ReplyDeleteI am redoing my kitchen soon so I love seeing "ideas".
ReplyDeleteThanks so much.
Roberta Anne
Blue was made for you wasn't it? Love this post, hope you are well!!!
ReplyDeleteMy kind of kitchen! I just love a blue and white kitchen. Happy Blue Monday!
ReplyDeleteHi BJ...glad that little dilemma got resolved...heehee...now, about all of those kitchens...nary a one is as cute to me as your red, black & white...but I do love the screen door on the pantry...wish I had a pantry like that!
ReplyDeleteHugs, ;-) Bo
Hey, I want that kitchen too - just love the blue tiles. Film was good but a bit harrowing - think we'll go for something light-hearted next time!
ReplyDeleteHugs and kisses,
Lucy x
BJ - Each kitchen was my favorite. You have so much ingenuity. Now why couldn't I have thought of that?!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sweetie
Those are some awesome kitchens...the one with the screen door is PERFECTION. I think the little skirt detail under the sink is really fun. And it would work beautifully in your kitche....I can just see some pretty toile......
ReplyDeleteThank you for finding these wonderful blue and white kitchens. I love the clean look of the white with blue accents.
ReplyDeleteKathy b
Oh I just love all those kitchens. Of course the first one is my favorite I think. You know me and any shade of blue especially with white.
ReplyDeleteBut, now Jean, you know you don't want to do anything to your red and black and white kitchen! That is so "you" and so pretty. Good post, my lady!
Love,
Martha
We women do love our kitchens don't we...... I am a true blue but the one with the screen door..... to quote my favorite philosopher...... "Oh honey"
ReplyDeleteHUgs
Linda

ReplyDeleteHi bj,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tour of those beautiful blue kitchens.
I am seeing more and more blue being used lately ,I need to paint my sun room and i just might be looking at some blue hues.
Blessings,
Sue
I love blue too BJ! I saw the Valentine's kissing ball you were talking about, it's soooo cute! I like the idea of temporarily replacing lower doors with "curtains." Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThis was the greatest post for Blue Monday BJ. I think blue is making a big comeback and it is great paired with almost any color. I love it in a kitchen too, although that was considered out of style for so long.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing all these wonderful pics! :-)
xoxo
Jane
Oh BJ, you found some really great ones! I love that sink too!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Dena
It just doesn't get much better than Gene Kelly.
ReplyDeleteHappy Blue Monday, BJ. Now, don't you be getting rid of your red kitchen. ;-)
BJ
ReplyDeleteI get weak at the knees at the sight of a blue and white kitchen--throw in a touch of yellow! These were great-thanks for sharing!
Love those blue kitchens BJ.
ReplyDeleteHi BJ!
ReplyDeleteOh I LOVE Gene Kelly!! His movies are so fabulous. My favorite blues are in my Blue Delft items. I really treasure them. And if I remember right you have some incredible pieces of Blue Delft.
Have a great week! Hugs, Sherry
Since blue is my favorite color, I am sure loving these blue kitchens. In my last house, which I remodeled about 10 years ago, I ordered blue counters for my kitchen. I just loved them!
ReplyDeleteKady
My mom has always decorated her homes in blues so I grew up with everything being blue:-) Such beautiful blue kitchen pictures you found, I've always found that colour very peaceful looking. xoxo
