You CAN have your cake and eat it, too.....

WITH a kitchen that has THIS reminder on the wall....I am ALWAYS thinking of CAKE !!
GOOD GRIEF !
What's the matter with me that I would have, IN HUGH letters, this reminder to face every single day of my entire life ?
I'll tell ya why....cause ...
SWEET TINA that lives over at CHERRY HILL COTTAGE
(you know her...she is the one that I STALK)
well....she has these on the wall of her most precious kitchen in the world !
I wonder if those words make HER hungry for cake all the time ?
*

like this PINEAPPLE UPSIDE CAKE that is one of my very favorites...My momma used to make these really often and it has now turned into another COMFORT food for me.....
*
Or...this RUM CAKE that I made at Christmas time...
it, too, has gone into my
FAVORITE RECIPES file.....
*
Today I was so hungry for cake....
BUT I am working on a project (and ya'll KNOW what it is ! grrr) and had no time for
SILLINESS....like cake baking ! *flutter of eyelashes
*
MUFFIN MIX....to the rescue.

I know....

I KNOW....

making muffins from a mix is not generally the best thing to BLOG about but...
look how pretty the photos are.....tee hee...my reds and blacks and whites...
*

My point ?
Don't put hugh words of EAT CAKE on your kitchen wall !! :O)
I like keeping a mix or two in that pantry and when the urge for CAKE hits,
I grab a mix, add a little milk and vanilla
and it WILL settle that sweet tooth down a little.... of course, you KNEW that!
**************************************************
*BIG TIME NOTE HERE....
MY RED VALENTINE........
H.U.N.K.
***********************************************
*

OH !
what a handsome fella !!
and they say he is nicer on the inside than he is handsome on the outside...
What a blessing ...to be nice AND handsome !
I love it !!
*
He has had SO SO many great movies but I really, REALLY loved this one!
(it's old, i know, but still good...just like me!!)

xo bj
***********************
AND many, many thanks for all the tips on getting this WITCH WALLPAPER BORDER down...
I have used WARM/HOT WATER...
I have used FABRIC SOFTENER...
I have used VINEGAR...
I have used CUSS WORDS...
and I can see that NOTHING is going to make this WITCH BABY turn loose very easily...
so I have rolled up the ole sleeves, bought 16 HUGH HERSHEY BARS, two with nuts,
and I am getting SERIOUS with this thing that GROWLS at me every time I walk in the room...
THANKS, AGAIN!! All of the above are helping....just need to apply heavier ELBOW GREASE...."O(
BUT.....today is the GIRLS DAY OUT....
for lunch and a bit of shopping. ...........That ole border can WAIT !

OH I LOVE MUFFINS!! And when we were in Canada eons ago I bought a few of those ready made mixes to take home with me. They are not here, duh and I loved the blueberry ones, lol. Now I hardly ever make cake but I DO like to eat it once in a while. So that sign is too cute, lol.

Enjoy those muffins, and yes Denzel is a HUNK of a man and a very good actor too.

bj...I just love your blog! I want to be just like YOU when I grow up!! :) Everything is just so..so perfect and beautiful and ORGANIZED! I spied one of your "MacKenzie's" there. Your house is adorable..your blog is perfect...and your hair is always in place. (oh..wait..that's just a photograph!) :) Mine is all over my head..and always tweaked!! Everything looked delicious...
Hugs!!
Mona
P.S. and by the way..I am so honored to be on your list of blogs. Thank you.

You are really making me hungry! What a blessed family to have all of those goodies just waiting for them!

I love your sign! :o)

Can you move to NC? Tardevil and I could visit you frequently. lol (Though I can't eat cake. Hmph.)

Cake and chocolate to your rescue. I wish we were all there to help you, but we would probably be too busy talking.

Hi BJ! Muffins and cup of coffee totally works for me! Especially about 3 in the afternoon. :)

Sounds like you are working hard with your wallpaper. Was talking to my dad about it yesterday and we are going to try to seal my paper and texture over it. He is a pro at this stuff so he will be able to determine whether or not it's working properly. Not me.

Hey, your little vignette on your blog header is so cute!

A good muffin in the morning can just make my day! The pumpkin ones at Dunkin' Donuts are just to die for or the double chocolate at my grocery store! (drooling as typing)

I had border that was just a bear to get off too. My sister and I took it off inch by inch and swore we would never put up another border again! lol! Of course I did but now I have the painter take it down. I don't know what he uses but it's something he mixes up and puts in a huge sprayer thing like you would spray your shrubs with. I'll ask him when he gets here. :o)

I love your kitchen! And my pantry always a box of Lemon Poppy Seed muffin mix in it .... just in case. No sin there....we have busy lives :-)

I've been looking for a good rum cake recipe did you share the recipe?

Elbow grease...reminds me when my son was young and we were renovating an old house. My husband said a certain job was going to take elbow grease...my son said, where do we get that, walmart? LOL!

Have a Happy Day!♥

I agree, your border can wait! You deserve a day out for sure. And you know I love muffins. I have always wanted to make a pineapple upside down cake, but my DH claims he doesn't like them....So that would mean I would eat the whole thing! I'm afraid I don't need to do that! Have a great day!

BJ,
You are so funny! Actually I totally love the "Eat Cake" letters. They are so adorable, and cake is my favorite food. Tee hee...Love the black and white tile in your kitchen. I think I see a MacKenzie-Childs item...don't you just love their teapots and cups and saucers? Very nice! Amy

Bj,

Thank you so much for your warm comment on my Fitness blog. I too am always blessed to meet new sisters (and brothers) in Christ that have no problem about expressing their love for JESUS!

If you ever want to shout His praise with me, come on by one of my blogs or send me an email. We'll shout and praise Him together.

**I love Beth! She's a sweetie -- a sister that if I lived near we'd probably be getting into (good) trouble together.

Bless you bj and I look forward to visiting with you again.

Morning BJ...There's nothing better to soothe the soul than a hunk of cake, or in a pinch...a muffin...LOL! Have a wonderful day out with your peeps & show that border who's boss tomorrow! ;-) Bo

I LOVE the 'eat cake' sign idea!! I love desserts of any shape or form so those words would certainly fit in my kitchen! I keep mixes on hand, too, especially Brownie mixes! They make perfect "choc. attack" solutions. But, hey, so do all of those Hershey bars you purchased to finished that wall paper job! Oh, I really wrecked a couple of rooms in my old house removing that stuff! I swore I would NEVER put that on another wall as long as I lived!! I don't care how cute and irresistible the pattern is--no paper for me! Well, unless it had The Stone Rabbit hopping all around, then maybe a teeny little border! :) Love that Denzel, too! Another great hunk!

Happy Wednesday! Dana

Your cakes look sooo yummy! Those muffins ain't bad either! Think I'm gonna have to come over with my trusty putty knife and help you get that mean ole border down. I'll tell you the story about that putty knife later. Of course, that help will have to come after our girls' day out. Huh? A good post, me lady, as always.
Love you!
Martha

I guess the cuss words didn't work huh? LOL!

I thought I lost you...on my reading list, your blog name is now a dot! But I do see that you have a new banner. You can still put your blog name on there but make it tiny tiny tiny and in black font and it will disappear. That's what I did to mine. You can see the words Timeless Things up in the left corner...barely visable. Go to Fonts and Colors and play around with it.

Love ya,
Deanna :D

BJ, I love the Eat Cake words! I want to eat cake all the time..and I don't have those words in my kitchen..just in my head...lol. That Denzel..well, he will do, but he's no Keifer...hee hee! Yep, he is a hunk..you are picking some great hunks...I don't know how much more we can stand...thank goodness...Valentines is this week... :)

Cake is a family favorite and unfortunately for my hips, I don't need a reminder to eat cake. :>) I love your reminder - it adds to the charm of your kitchen.

I also love mixes and use them often. I don't think there is a rule that everything must be from scratch. Great tasting food is just that great tasting food.

Beth at Aunties said...

I think I need to sneak in the kitchen and get a cupcake:) Ibetter neve put signs up like that one in my home...or maybe it would be a great idea.
You are wonderful and I so enjoy coming to your blog. I bet your children and grandchildren love coming to your home.

Whew. It sounds like such a chore and I'm glad you took some time out for you and the girls...shopping will take your mind off that project!

YOU are asking for it when you put up a sign like that..*lol*. I never could. I love cake too much. Marc's fav cake is pineapple upside down cake...packaged cakes are very yummy...good for a quick fix.

LOVE Denzil Washington too...mmhmmmmmmmm...

hope you are having a great day

Yummo, those cakes look delish. And I think I know what you're up to. You keep going out with the girls for lunch and shopping, because I think you're waiting for the border fairy to come in and take that border away. Hee Hee.

Oh BJ,

You're a hoot! I love your eat cake letters. Tina's is one of my favorite blogs too. I was just over at AC Moore looking for letters that say NEST. They were all out of 's'. I saw them on a bedroom shelf, and they looked so cute. Hope you had fun out with the girls.

BJ,

First you have me drooling over the sweets & then you up and announce you are going out to lunch & shopping!! How cruel!!! I would think you lived the life of Riley if you didn't have that nasty old wallpaper waiting for you! ;-)

Seriously, hope you had a lovely day!

I LOVE today's post! That pineapple upside down cake made me think of my childhood. Momma always made one every Christmas! I think I'll have to make one just for the memories!

Oh, and who could say anything negative about Denzel?! What a HUNK!!!! Melts my butter, for sure!

Hope you had a great lunch!

(Geeeeez, girlfriend, couldn't you have just put a grape or two on a plate and called it "done"? I sure don't need a big old sign to remind me to eat cake! I could eat cake 3 times a day and for snacks, truth be told. But then you'd be seeing me as the woman that LOOKS like the world's biggest cake on the front page of the Inquirer in the grocery checkout isle!! Not a pretty picture! LOL

hugs, Sherry

Hi ya friend. Aww.. BJ, I remember the days on RMS when you professed your love for your wallpaper borders! Kinda sad in a way to see them go down, but always nice to change it up a little too! Can't wait to see what you have up your sleeves.
Go to Lowes or HomeDepot and by Diff. It should make removing the border a little easier. Also, did you use a paper tiger?. That helps alot.
Thanks for coming over and your kind comments.
