BEHIND these soft creme colored louvered doors with the pretty, little door knob hang with pretty pink roses painted on it.....
DISASTER LURKED....
i don't have a laundry ROOM....
and this poor, pitiful closet was so overburdened with STUFF with no organization whatsoever....
(aren't i a BRAVE, BRAVE girl to let you see this....will you still love me in the morning?? )
and if you've ever used contact paper and you have left it there for a number of years *and I'm not sayin' how MANY years...
comes off in tiny little slivers that make ya so mad you could just SPIT !!
WELL....
THIS was to be my FIRST '09 PROJECT
and I did it YESTERDAY....
*
*
*
AFTER clearing everything out, and painting it all in a soft YELLOW, which I had a whole half gallon
left from another project.....
"use what you have and use it all up".....
and i operate on a Social Security Budget, don't 'cha know..
A LAUNDRY CLOSET ??
this little cutie came over from DUDA DAZE and if you've not been there, do yourself a favor and take a stroll thru her adorable ETSY ......you'll love what she paints... she is on my blog roll....
isn't SHE just perfect for a tiny, little LAUNDRY CLOSET !!!!
so I added some RED FAKE FLOWERS in there and I'm lovin' it.....
my little thrift store painting of a RED barn found a home in the LAUNDRY CLOSET...
my day's work on it really made a HUGH difference, and.....
it just folds back up on the door when I'm all finished ironing...HA!! like I really IRON ....
* i added a little RED towel to hide the vent pipe that was exposed...
ya do what ya can when ya don't have much to work with....*sigh..poor pitiful me...i need
CHOCOLATE....
my day's work on it really made a HUGH difference, and.....
MAYBE I won't mind washing and ironing (well, not as much, maybe) since I have a bright and cheery spot to do it in....
******
YEP, I'M PROUD OF MY FIRST '09 PROJECT OUTCOME...
SINCE I WORKED so hard all day yesterday...I get to rest today...
and no better way to REST than....GO THRIFTING..
See ya tomorrow...
OHHHHH...
and what did I do with all those cans and jars and STUFF ?
*
*
i arranged them all nice and neat on shelves in our utility hallway...
now EVERYTHING HAS A PLACE
and that makes me so HAPPY !
You did GOOD, BJ! Your laundry closet looks so bright and cheerful now.
ReplyDeleteI love that cute little plaque ... and your barn painting ... and the little flowers in the glass bottles.
Everything came together as if you went out and bought it just for your closet.
Happy laundering!
You did a great job on your laundry closet! I need to do something similar with mine. The kids stick everything in there!
ReplyDeleteAll girls need pretty places to do laundry, and now yours is beautiful. You just might need to leave the doors open can you can enjoy the view. ;-)
ReplyDeleteLooks great!
ReplyDeleteEven your before pictures are better than my laundry situation. I have to venture to the cold, damp basement, and with three teenagers I'm there quite often. That's what happens when you fall in love with an old house. :(
Enjoy your day off. :)
xo
Di
BJ, it's awesome. I love that you covered the vent pipe by hanging a towel. That's my kind of trick!!
ReplyDeleteI love the Duda Daze painting too. You will feel much better doing that job now!!
BTW, mine is still sitting in the same state.
That is a fantastic makeover! I don't have a laundry room either. I have a laundry pass through. You walk thru it to get from the garage to the kitchen....
ReplyDeleteI love your red barn picture!!!
Hugs,
Penny
You have made a tremendous difference. I like that little red towel covering the ugly pipe. Good thinking!
ReplyDeleteIron? What is that?
Hi BJ...I wish I could get bitten by the organizer bug...but, it just hasn't been by my house yet...
ReplyDeleteGreat job you did! Hugs, Bo
I love your closet makeover! Good job, can't wait to see what your next project will be!
ReplyDeleteSmiles,
Carol
Bj, You have been a very busy lady. I love wht you did with your laundry closet. I bet it puts a smile on your face when you open the doors now. Heck, you probably leave them open now. I know I would. Because, it's so darn cute. I have always decorated my laundryroom. Otherwise, I don't think I'd keep up with my laundry. I love to be in beautiful spaces.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
Hugs, Terrie
You might wanna take a look at my laundry room. I frou-frou'd it up with roses and fabric and it is actually a place I love to be now, sweet little cherub. I love it. But you did a fantastic job, lovey......
ReplyDeleteSmooches,
Connie
Girlfriend you rock. this is one great job. I never seen a closet I would shut myself in,but this is one happy space.now I have to finish my room =)
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job! Can you come over and help me with mine? My laundry room is a mess! I've already bought the paint and it is yellow too! I love yellow and red! I plan on getting to that room soon! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Lee Laurie
Way to clean!! I love a clean home yet it's so hard when you are a busy woman like myself and 99% of ladies everywhere. Kudos to you Miss Sweet Nothin'!
ReplyDeleteBJ~Now you will truly enjoy doing the laundry...I'm bringing mine over to you since you will enjoy it so much!
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing what a little paint and some nice accessories will do for the look and the mood!
Looks fantastic!
BJ! You did such a good job! Will you come to my house and do mine, too??? I need H-E-L-P! My laundry room has become a catch-all. Hopefully I can eventually remedy that problem!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Sheila :-)
Love you "laundry closet redo"! I have a "closet" as well and got some cute ideas today! Good job:-)
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful and the contact paper made me laugh...been there also;)
ReplyDeleteThe florals, red towel, bottles and painting all look so pretty.
It can make doinglaundry a joy:)
Oh BJ! That was hilarious! You did an awesome job! Oh my goodness, don't even get me started on contact paper. The house that we had in Lubbock, had that country blue geese contact paper inside my cabinets! EEEEeeeek! What were we thinking?? I still love that country look but the contact paper can go!
ReplyDeleteLoved the re-do. I know you have inspired all of us to be thrifty with what we have around the house.
Hugs,
Deanna :)
It all came out so nice. I need to do my laundry room and I can't make myself get started. Well, now I have something to think about for an 09 project.
ReplyDeleteHate that contact paper too. We used to use it all the time, years ago.
You have inspired me :>)
ReplyDeleteYou did very good! Of course a laundry space should be cheerful. And hey I have a towel covering my pipe too! Yours is prettier though, I think I may go shopping in my linen closet. I know I have something that would look prettier.
ReplyDeleteBetty
looks fantastic! I avoid my teeny little laundry space...it is the ugly zone!
ReplyDeleteWell I think you did a fabulous job on your laundry closet and I'm loving that yellow paint, so nice and sunny looking in there now!! Love all your special little touches as well...yup, you did GOOD:-) xoxo
ReplyDeleteGREAT JOB!! It looks so pretty...and it must be way nicer to open up those doors and see things that make you smile! And how can you not love red and yellow together!
ReplyDeleteWow what a huge difference... looks great.... BJ . I put contact paper in my cabinets maybe 5 years ago and I hate it ..... what I hate worse is taking it up .... yuck..
ReplyDeleteI don't know about you but it suppose to be FREEZing here in East Texas....

Hi BJ, I am in love with your very attractive and NEAT laundry closet. You deserve a hot fudge sundae. I deserve one too, for just thinking about it. I didn't clean up a special place in my house but I did suffer this silly computer. LOL. Good job, I'm proud of you girl.
ReplyDeleteHugs...Jeanne
Bravo! Now come over and do mine, please? heehee
ReplyDeleteHi BJ - You did a wonderful job - everything looks bright and cheery. How well I remember contact paper. I remember it sticking together when putting it on and taking it off. I like the yellow of the shelves. You are one innovative lady. Too bad you don't live closer. I'd share some of my chocolate covered potato chips with you!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sweetie
I have a laundry closet, too, BJ. Just llike yours, except mine is a lot bigger mess than yours was. So full of stuff. You've inspired me to want to clean mine up. You did a great job.
ReplyDeleteYou give me hope for my laundry room - Thank YOU!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, is that a Mackenzie-Childs teapot on your stove in your header?
I LOVE Mackenzie-Childs.
You did such a great job. I love the soft yellow and bright red, it is a cherry combination. I really like your blog and I am glad I found you. Very soon here I am going to have to quit finding any more!
ReplyDeleteRoberta Anne
Great job BJ! There's just something about the new year that inspires us to de-clutter and spiff up! I worked with my neighbor helping her de-clutter her house this weekend so I still have mine yet to do. Keep your fingers crossed I'm still inspired to clean as the weekend rolls around. Happy New Year from Texas!!!
ReplyDeleteI love red and yellow!!! You did an amazing job BJ...it looks great!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, you've been tagged over at my place...stop by.
Hugs, Andi
oh honey, you did a great job ! Now come on over to my house ! I have so many projects that need to be done that I don't know where to start.Well actually I do! I could start by getting off this computer!LOL.
ReplyDeleteHi BJ
ReplyDeleteWhat a great 2009 project you have started and completed already! It looks great! I can't get over how nice everything looks and don't you feel good??? I have started a closet project too...its too late to start taking pics of it because I've already done the majority of it...I got gave away and recycled and threw out and organized this week too but I have more to do.
You have a nice area and the paint and decor in there really makes a difference...good for you!
have a lovely evening
Judi
It looks great with the sunny yellow and cute accessories.
ReplyDeleteNow don't you just beat all! Even decorating your laundry closet! Well, I never! Looks just like a Southern Living laundry closet just like the rest of your house! You never cease to amaze me! You are just so creative! Loved your blog today.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Martha
I heard the JAWS theme...LOL lol...
ReplyDeleteand after reading your post and seeing your VICTORY...I hear the theme song from ROCKY !!! LOL
Oh, you did such a great job, but you made me feel SO guilty, because my laundry room still looks like a horror movie. Cute post. laurie
ReplyDeleteI still love ya BJ! You did a GREAT job.....everything looks soooooo good! I don't have a laundry room either, I just have a laundry closet and I'm kinda glad. It seems like I always had piles of clothes laying around in our other house when we had a laundry room!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job BJ! Wow, it looks so purty. Love the color and all of the accessories.
ReplyDeleteI, too, have a laundry closet. I do like it because I can close the door, but it does have a tendency to get messy. Thanks for the inspiration to clean it up!!! Sally
ReplyDeleteGreat inspiration! It turned out cute! I love how you jazzed it up with the yellow paint and that cute little art! Maybe, just maybe I'll work on mine now....Robyn
ReplyDeleteWOW! You have been very busy! It is so pretty now. Good job thanks for encouraging me to do the same LOL.
ReplyDeleteGinger
Your laundry closet project looks great1 You must be so happy to have accomplished so much. Now, do you have any suggestions for laundry rooms in a dungeon?
