BLOGGING TOO MUCH ?

ANYONE out there that thinks they may be spending way too much time.....BLOGGING ?
I mean...besides ME ?
*
*

I'VE noticed that I don't seem to have nearly as much time, getting together with my friends for a day of card playing and just having fun....

I'VE noticed that my bills are piling up 'cause I don't wanna leave my blog world and get them all paid...
oh, gosh....what if they turn off my ELECTRICITY....
no lights, no computer...BWAAAAAAA...NO COMPUTER !!!

I'VE noticed that I need to spend a whole lot more time in the KITCHEN....
cooking things for the freezer, making my own pie crusts, my own biscuits, my own dumplings instead of canned biscuits, my own roasted chicken instead of the one from the deli....
(not that I ever did all this BEFORE blogging...WHY NOW??...
feeling guilty 'cause.....

I COULD be saving a lot more money by PLANNING meals better.......
I'VE noticed that I have stacks of GREAT BOOKS to read but never seem to get around to reading them anymore....and I LOVE READING !!

I'VE noticed that I have THREE (3) bedrooms to paint...
WHEN ??

I can't even find time to CHOOSE THE COLORS I want...
I started thinking about it the other day but, then, I thought of a GREAT subject for a posting on...
MY BLOG....
*

I'VE noticed I don't have nearly as much time for just relaxing with friends for an afternoon of tea and talking and enjoying each other....
The other day, one of these friends said something like "I don't hear from you as much as I used to and we never seem to get together enuf anymore." and here I was thinking she said, "Have you come up with some great things to post on your BLOG, that is now known as your LIFE SUPPORT ?"

I'VE noticed that my washing clothes has suffered....
when I find I have no more clean panties to wear today or
Mr. Sweet Nothings has one white sox and one black sox on this morning...
I am knowing I need to GET AWAY FROM THIS COMPUTER
so I can........
have nice, clean piles of LAUNDRY...
all I ask is for PILES OF CLEAN LAUNDRY...not even that they have to be put away...just CLEAN !
*

AND.....the hardest, most heart hurting of ALL....
I'VE noticed I don't find myself in my beloved THRIFT STORES as often as I used to...

OH.....THE SHAME OF IT ALL !

************

YES, LADIES.....I seem to be spending waaaaay too much time, holed up in my little computer room, bringing all my posting dreams to reality....there they are....all those post, pre-scheduled....sometimes
A WHOLE WEEKS WORTH...
now, as you know, THAT TAKES A LOT OF TIME..
and then, THE VISITING...
MY blog roll has grown to an astronomical amount and there's just NO WAY I can get around to everyone I would like to visit each and every day.
OOO, I know...I may LOOK like SUPERWOMAN...you've seen me in my costume....
but I said it once and I'll say it again...
"THIS OLD GRAY MARE AIN'T WHAT SHE USED TO BE"
and I am SLOW.....SO, if I don't visit as much as I should...please know I love ya and am thinking of ya...
I'm just trying to get caught back up on

LIFE.... !!
*
*

OOO, I DID have time to make this big crock pot of BEEF STEW last night...
and a hugh plate of HOT WATER CORNBREAD, dripping with butter !
Ever had HOT WATER CORNBREAD before ?
O ! HONEY !
**
if i've given you this recipe before...sorry....maybe you lost it and you need it again...
no one should have to go thru life without
HOT WATER CORNBREAD

2 CUPS CORNMEAL
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 Tablespoon + 1 teaspoon bacon drippings (i use shortening but I LIKE bacon drippings better !)
boiling water
shortening
****
Mix cornmeal, salt and drippings with enuf boiling water to make batter thick enuf to shape.
Pat into thin cakes and fry in shortening...
Serve hot with butter...
WHEW....so down-home good it will make ya wanna slap your pappy !

I every bit...100% COMPLETELY...understand this post!

But, we have to believe that our community of friends will understand as well...and, as all good friends do...be ready to sit and chat, once we can make it back ! :)

I'm new at this and I already see that I'm spending too much fun on this. It's just that I love visiting everyone, cuz I'm afraid that I'll miss something. Then, there's the post creation--that's time-consuming for everyone also. So, I totally understand you! Just check in with us, we all understand!

GM BJ...Oh this is so true. I could have done the same post about my life. Every day, I know what I have to do, but it's like I have to check my computer in between time. Plus, other than what I have on my to do list, I have nothing going on to blog about. But, some of the people on here are like family to me and even if they are posting something about nothing, I still love to visit them. I realize though, I do have to stop letting Blogland being the center of my life. :(

I'm painting my bar and today I'm putting the sample color on a wall. I'm watching Katie and Zack after school, so that has slowed my progress down some.

Love Ya,
Chris

I think we all go through this from time to time. I tend to focus on the ones who comment and ones that I absolutely find inspiration in! Since I work full time, I find that I give up TV in order to blog. Not a bad switch at all!

This one struck too close to home, BJ. I have to admit I've felt guilty about all of those things you talked about ... plus some.

Even when I go somewhere, it seems that I'm always looking for something to blog about.

It's nice to know I'm not the only one -- Bless our hearts!

Good morning! I read your blog every morning and it always makes me smile.Keep blogging, I love reading your blogs!

Oh girl, I could have written this myself! God help me.

I can shoot out a post in no time, but the visiting is the most time consuming (enjoyable) part.

Have a blessed day!

Blogging is wonderful BJ dear but you can't let it run your life. I set aside these morning times to catch up on reading the blogs I have on my list. I post things when I get home and then I'm off the computer for the rest of the day and night. You shouldn't feel obligated to post something everyday. That then becomes a chore and not something enjoyable for you.

Try not to post for a few days and see how it goes. Spend time with loved one's and GIRLFRIEND, GO THRIFTING!!!!

Many hugs,
Deanna :)

I definitely can't visit as much as I like. Heck, I still haven't finished visiting everyone from the last Pink Saturday. ;-)

I work all day, and when I get home I have more to squeeze in to those hours than they will hold.

I totally understand this post. Being a new blogger, it seems to have taken control of me. HELP! My house is not in any shape to be sharing pictures on my blog because I am not getting it spruced up enough. Why? Because I am trying to teach myself the blog thing! Anyway, I enjoy visiting yours everyday!

Every word of your post is sooooo true! Blogging is a time stealer and I keep telling myself I'm going to do better but I don't! Do anyone have a cure. HELP!!!

I love this post! You are so funny!
The sad thing is that all of what you posted is true...
Why don't you ask your blog friends what can be done about this? LOL LOL
I am making veggie beef stew tonight! Sould have done it yesterday, but I was too busy on the computer checking out everyone's blogs...honestly, I was!

I am so right there with you! Time for me to back off too. As much as I love blogging, it's not as important as what's happening in my home. It's just so hard...like an addiction!!

Good Morning BJ... It is so funny you posted about this... I am beginning to think the same thing... I went to a friend’s house last night to play cards and this morning I have so many blogs to visit and comment it will take hours... I was going to do a post to find out just how much time people spend on the BLOG... I want to trim down my favorites list but it is hard to do... I understand but you are definitely one of my favorites so I hope to still see you.... Love ya

LOL! So very true, and yet if I go more than a few days without posting, I begin to feel anxious. I don't have the following that you do, so I imagine you would feel worse.

Good thing we are all so cute and wonderful, because all of this is, well, weird!

This was such a funny post! And so true! I am not a blogger, but I looove reading blogs, and spend so much of the day doing it! But my girls are grown and living far away, so I really kind of have the time! Except for housecleaning, cooking, laundry, and all of that other stuff that gets in the way! I try not to let it, though, haha!
Have a great day,
Janet A.

I am sure that everyone here today, gets this post. I too wonder what the magic number of blogs I can visit on a regular basis and how can I push the I can't follow you button on someone and send them into cyberspace. What to do. But for right now I am going to cuddle in and visit away. Happiness is having lots of blog ideas in hand!

BJ, there is, indeed, a shower being planned for a certain someone. It will be held at our friend Danielle Geiser's house in Idalou on March 8th. I'll be sending out invites soon! And thanks for taking the time to stop by and visit me, but if you need to do so less often to spend more time living, I completely understand. See you soon!

Fabilicious post, BJ! It is very easy to be pulled into the vortex of blogland!

March 6th is my 2nd aniversary blogging. The first year 2007 was a little slow, then toward the end of that year things began to roll. I seemed to do more flying from blog to blog last year. I've decided, in 2009, to slow down a bit. I will still visit everyone,it will be spread out a little more, though.

It's so easy to sit at the computer all day, several days and not see the light of day! I'm going to make a concentrated effort to keep my posts to 2 and/or no more than three per week. It makes it a little easier, for me. I'm still here blogging away, but not so many posts as I used to do. Lots of projects in the works for this winter and spring. Of course all of them are blog worthy!:-)

My copy of Mermaids in the Basement arrived the other day. I started it in the waiting room of the doctor. I haven't looked at it since Monday. Tomorrow afternoon, I have a date with reading more of Michael's book.

Oh yes I indeed love Hot Water Corn Bread! :o) I had to tame my blogging time, now I think I sort of have a happy balance!:o) It is so hard when you have so many wonderful people to visit and all those new blogger to meet!!:o)

By the way my friend, feel free to use the picture from my blog and thank you so much for all your kindness.

Smiles...

BJ! Too funny - and true - for words! Topics for me kind of come out of the blue ... not even thinking about it. But maybe that's because I've only been doing this since November! I certainly wouldn't have enough to say if I tried to post every day. And I so enjoy reading other blogs and leaving comments .... enjoy the weekend!

Wsprsweetly Of Cottages said...

How neat. We have had the same exact thoughts. I got up this morning thinking..I am NOT going to sit there most of the day today! Then I thought, "oh heck, I'll just turn it on for a sec." Well, you can that I kept coming back off and on much of the day..however I did get my frame painted, my cabinets wiped down, watered the lawn, MADE THE BED (oh how I hate myself when I walk in there at noon and find it a tangled mess!) But..then I just walk out and say to myself "later gator!" Anyway...I love how beautifully you made the point! Pictures and (sigh) everything!
LOVED IT! Of course neither my own thoughts or your blog did me one single bit of good. I mean, here I am! Right? Right? GRRRRR

BJ, I missed your post yesterday. You go girl. We do have to remember we have a life. At least we used to have a life. Lets just agree to visit when we can and that's fine with me.
I am sure that most bloggers will understand the need to get back to some things we love to do. Like read!

Love you my friend and thanks for a great wake up post about blogging. See you tomorrow. Laughing BIG. Can we really slow down??? I don't know.

Love...Jeanne

Wow, I think we all have "bloggeritis" ! LOL . I have been thinking the same thing BJ.Oh well, we will come out of it soon.

Do you use self rising meal in your hot water cornbread ?

Anonymous said...

Hi BJ
Yes I know how this blogging can be. There is so much to do and read and prepare for in blogland. There are so many friends and they do so many neat things and make things and you want to leave comments and reply and oh my it is fun and it is time consuming.

Things get behind if there is no one to do them..*s*. I've had to limit myself because 15 minutes turns into 1.5 hours very quickly!

I know now that when someone doesn't write for a day or so that they are probably busy in their "other" world...but it is reassuring when they stop by and comment anyway.

Your cornbread recipe looks yummy...I get so hungry while I blog with all these goodies. I hope you are catching up on things..and finding the other pair of the white and black sox too!

have a nice evening..enjoy your fireplace.
