GM BJ, thanks for stopping by and I was trying to make my photos as pretty as you make yours. LOL Well, that didn't work. You have a wonderful post today, you are the best. I was 1 1/2 years old on that tragic day. Is today your B-day?

Beautiful post, BJ ...

Thank you for reminding us of the significance of this day ... a day which, indeed, "will live in infamy."

Sincerely,

Janie

What a wonderful post BJ. I visit often but don't always comment. We had two sons join the Army after 9-11. They are both out now after serving their tour. Our house will always remember our service men and women. Thanks for sharing this information and do you have the recipe for that Streuesel Coffee Cake and don't mind sharing it? It looks wonderful.

I'd like that recipe, too. I love the 1941 Ford Coupe and Betty was the best.

My Dad was in WWII. I always think of him as an 18 year old in the Pacific whenever it's December 7th. They were so young and halfway around the world. The same is true today in Iraq.

Great post!

What a nice tribute BJ. I've always just referred to December 7th as Pearl Harbor Day but it's much more than that. And although I wasn't born yet I know my Daddy along with many other brave young men enlisted in the military because of this day.

As FDR said, "A day which would live in infamy." Just like other days that our country has experienced, we will never forget.

May I have some coffee cake? ;-)

Thank you for reminding us! My mother remembers this day. She was 11 eleven years old and was attending a birthday party when word got out. The father of the girl whose party it was had to suddenly leave. He was a doctor. My mom remembers being scared at the time. I don't know what my father's memories are of the day. I will have to ask him. He was also 11 years old.

Good morning, BJ -
Thank you for this tribute to that day long ago when our world changed. Never to be the same again! It was a Sunday that year, too, and my dear little mother recalls exactly where she was and the dismay in their hearts when they heard the news.

My paternal grandfather remembered that day...even on his death bed. I'm glad he didn't live to see 9/11because I'm not sure he could have taken that.

BJ, is today your birthday? Let us know...I would have sent you a card. If yes..then Happy Birthday my new sweet friend!!!

Hugs,
Deanna :)

I wasn't born yet in 1941 but of course I learned about Pearl Harbor in school...this is such a touching post of remembrance from that day.

I love it that women used to wear hats all the time in those days, they always looked so chic.

Hope you've been having a wonderful weekend, my friend, we're snowed in here! xoxo

Thanks for the great pics about Pearl Harbor. Yes, our soldiers deserve our prayers and respect. They are great!

My mom was talking today about Pearl Harbor...she was 21 (she's now 88) and her brother was heading into Pearl Harbor on a minesweeper. His boat got word about the bombing and were ordered to turn back....otherwise, he might not have lived to be 90 years old! She said she and her parents had been to church when a neighbor came to tell them about the bombing...they did not hear from her brother for 3 weeks! She said her dad (my grandfather) went to the post office every day waiting on some word from or about him....can you imagine getting that letter and recognizing the handwriting? What rejoicing there was!!!

This old world has withstood lots of sorrow but I'm happy to say that "Our God Reigns!"

Nice tribute for Pearl Harbor day. So sad to think of what happened 67 years ago. I posted an ornament on my blog (Sunday) that my son brought me back from the U.S.S.Arizona memorial when he and his wife visited it. He said it was so erie and emotional. I hang that ornament on my tree every year.
