WHAT TO DO WITH AN OLD DOOR......

I had an OLD, FAUX ficus tree in my living room that I just carried out to the dumpster !!

It is so ugly, I couldn't stand it a minute longer....

But, OOPS....now there's this empty spot and nothing to fill it with......

This old door, I decided, might work.....at least for awhile.....

So.....I painted it white....

put a dark glaze on it to soften the white...... (aren't we goofy)

Hung a few things on it, for the time being...........

since I don't know what the heck else to do with this door...do you?

I had this cute little wooden shelf that I got years ago at a local flea market....

STILL looking a little plain.....

Remember, to me, LESS is NOT BETTER....

I like lotsa stuff ..........

I also like things that aren't in every other house you go in so I'm probably going to like this decorated old door....at least for awhile..

Sometimes, I get strange looks from SWEET MAN...
Men just don't get it, sometimes

OK....just adding the green berries make it all look better to me....

This new addition to the room will have to last long enough for me to save my money for a

FABULOUS, HANDPAINTED SCREEN

*sigh

Until then, this ole door will have to fill the spot ......

I have a feeling there is something REALLY fantastic I could do with this door....
If I just had the talent some of you do, I could paint something fabulous on it....

but......

I DON'T

hugs, bj

WOW!
You did a great job. I would of never thought to do that, what a great idea. It looks great the way you have it decorated. It will be fun to change it for different Holiday's.
Have a wonderful great day,

I love it, bj -- it looks beautiful! If you still want to do something different to it, have you considered stencilling it? Or decoupaging it with color copies of your favorite art? You could even cut out flowers from wrapping paper or magazine pics...

Don't you love how I'm making all this work for you?!

Mary

You may not have the talent to paint but you definitely have the talent to put things together and make it look fantastic! I love the door.

Hi Bj!! How've you been? Busy decorating, I see! :) I think the doors look great and the shelf makes it functional too! Just an idea...what if you put fabric panels just on those recessed (or raised?) panels? or even wall paper? Kind of gives you the look of the painted screen you want and could serve as a great backdrop to your little displays. You could use some braided trim around the edges, lots of possibilities! Hope you are doing well...keep on decorating! :) ~ Laurie

Hi BJ - Your doors are perfect! You did a great job with your 'new' bare spot. You could add a sign or framed picture under the wreath or shelf if you wanted to add anything else. If they were the right size and shape they wouldn't take away from the look you have. They look great the way they are. ~Adrienne~

I think it looks great, but if you want my idea, I would turn it around, make some triangular shelves for it and make it into a corner shelf unit. What do you think?

It looks great! How creative you are!

I used to have a wonderful five panel antique door, and I had great plans for it, but until that time, it was being stored in the garage. My then-husband threw it out. I knew there was a reason he eventually became my ex-husband! rofl
