There's so many shades of BLUE and so many patterns on dishes.....
I've collected BLUE and WHITE dishes for over 40 years and I do have a really nice collection of them.....
A lot were given to me by my mother and most were found in flea markets, thrift stores, very seldom in garage sales and a few from antiques stores..... This is one from Mom and it always reminds me of a Queen, for some reason.......
I generally will USE any thing that I have, old or not, but I wouldn't use this wonderful piece for 5 and 1/2 zillion dollars....
the main reason ? ......A GRANDDAUGHTER wants it when she gets her own place !!
ENUF SAID !!
This was found in a thrift store and it's from a cooking school program. I googled it once, years back and have already forgotten where it came from....(remember, I'm OLD)
MOM gave me these ...there's 4 of them...from England. I ADORE divided plates. I can't stand for my food to touch and these work soooo good. I don't use them often, tho....
They are too old. (like me)
It has no markings on the back....
The scenic ones just almost tell a story...or you can at least MAKE one up while looking at them. Seems most of them are from England, too......
My first little rose blooms of the season.....
Pieces from Germany.....
A sweet little country church.....
A sweet little country church.....
Wouldn't ya know I would have a BLUE and WHITE rooster plate ?
I am in love with CROCKS...and this is my favorite one....
Mom gave me this one and I think it is so pretty. I would LOVE to have a complete set like this.....English
(another good reason to go thrifting.....heh heh heh )
Aren't you just crazy about all the wonderful things that are out THERE to collect??
If I don't stop collecting, tho, I am going to end up on DR. PHIL'S tv show as a REALLY WEIRD PERSON that has hordes of collectables and no where to put them and I NEED HELP !!
I found this set in a thrift store....I have tried and tried to add more pieces to it but they are SOOO expensive and hard to find...
***********************************************
I have some more pretty BLUE and WHITE pieces that I will share with you later.....
Thanks so much for looking at part of my collection!
HAPPY DAY TO MY SWEET BLOGGER FRIENDS !

Good Morning BJ:>)
I love your blue & white plates. I have never had much blue in my house but lately I seem to be seeking it out. I have begun to look for blue and white plates to hang in my yellow living room because I love that combination. Thinking of adding some blue throws and other things as an accent color to tie it all together. Thanks for sharing your collectiopn, I love that big platter you showed. So pretty:>)
I have a few blue and white pieces...but I have only been looking during the past two years.
You have collected some very beautiful pieces.

BJ, you are starting my day with lots of lovelies. Your collection is wonderful. Blue is such a clean and crisp color. It just makes you feel good.
Let me know if Dr. Phil calls. I definitely will take a day off of work to watch.
Your collection is wonderful......especially the rooster plate. Ha! I bet you knew I would say that :-)
I just love your blog! I also LOVE blue and white china so I especially enjoyed looking at your collection. You refer to one of your plates as the oldest one you own...the one with no markings. I have about a dozen pieces of this china. When I was a teenager (ages ago) my father was taking a walk and saw that a local church was having a little flea market. He bought these dishes for me...including a teapot. The church gave him an old plastic tray to carry it on and he walked all the way to our house carrying this tray of dishes for me! I checked at Kovel's and this is what they said about it..."Phoenix Bird, or Flying Phoenix, is the name given to a blue and white kitchenware popular between 1900 and World War II. A variant is known as Flying Turkey. Most of this dinnerware was made in Japan for sale in the dime stores of America. (They show a picture of your exact plate). Hope I have given you a little info on your plate. Have a wonderful day!
BJ,
I have four of the animal plates like your rooster plate; cow, sheep, pig and duck. And tada...I have the platter with a rooster. The best part is I got them at The Christmas Tree Shop, a local discount store whose slogan is "Don't you just love a bahgain..that's Boston for bargain and the plates were $1. and the platter $4. How's that for a bahgain??
Janet

Thanks so much for giving me this info on the little plate. Mine has a cracked place in it's rim...My mother got the plate somewhere but I have no idea where...I do appreciate you taking the time to write me about it.
Pls. come back to see me anytime and please think about doing a blog...I just know you would love it!!
hugs, bj...and thanks again.

Your blue and white pieces are gorgeous. I don't think I could choose a favorite! I'm starting to add more blue and white to my yellow things and I like it. Thanks for sharing yours with us. ~Adrienne~
I love blue and white! There is just something about collecting that makes life worth living! No one else but the collector understands how each and every piece has meaning! Thanks for sharing!

Love your blues..........
When I was growing up (just a young whipper snapper)I was surrounded by "blue" in my Mom's home and sweet g-mothers's home--everywhere. And I resolved that one day, I would never have blue in my house... I have not...but guess what...It has really grown on me in the last few months & I find myself falling in love with it. My sweet mom (87 on 5/31) has mentioned to me..."I don't know what will happened to all this stuff since you are not a fan of blue." Well we will find a home. Mine!! The older I get, the more sentimental..so many pieces I look at and remember just where they were placed in my g-mother's home and now Mom's. Thanks for a walk down Memory Lane....
Love your blog!!

Your font is perfect on here....so glad you figured out how to leave me a note when you visit....

Hi BJ! I love your blue and whites. My favorites were the soup tourine and the thrift store platter with the basket of flowers. I have several peices of blue and whites in my little country store. Mostly Currier and Ives and Blue Willow. I agree with Kathleen Grace, the first comment. I love them with yellow. Blue and yellow is so French country! By the way I love the new photo you are using as your blog banner. See ya soon. God Bless, Celene
Hi BJ,
Love your blue and white plates. i have some from Royal , the Memory Lane, I think. We purchased it from a flea mkt over twenty years ago. The woman wanted 15.00 , She said you have to take the whole box. My husband practically ripped his pockets getting the money out. It has been my most treasured find.
Love your rooster plate.
Have a great day, Janie
Your collection is gorgeous! No wonder your granddaughter wants that pretty tea pot. I like blue and white dishes like yours, but my favourite is the brown and white transferware. I don't have any, but I'm so envious of my friend's beautiful set of old dishes ;-)
