YES, IT'S ME AND I'M IN LOVE AGAIN ~

SIMPLE COTTAGE STYLE

One reason I quit surfing RATE MY SPACE so much is that it nearly worked me to death because just about the time I got things in my house the way I liked, I would see another WHOLE NEW LOOK that would take me in the opposite direction!
WHEW !!
It just wore me OUT !

NOW, just as I have my living room pretty much ok.....I see something like this
AWESOME WHITE LIVING ROOM and.......
here I go again.

Fabulous entertainment area and I LOVE that white floor mirror......

The beams give this room so much character....and makes the whites look even better.....

I love her sutle use of yellows for the summer sun, too.......

Well, I could sit and read all day long in this nook......

Everything is so calm........... so clean looking.....
and FRESH

Ummmmm..... and having those dreamy windows do not hurt the look any !

I am crazy about her plain and simple white drapes................

LOVE LOVE LOVE it...............
Color is good.....but wouldn't it be great to "get away from it all" with just shades of white sometimes...?
Or, would it be too hard to live with not much color?
Is it just this pretty in magazines ?
or on RATE MY SPACE ?

ALL I KNOW IS.......
IT'S JUST PRETTY

Hugs, bj

NOTE:
This lovely room belongs to

Type her name in SEARCH at the top of the page and enjoy looking at more pictures of her GREAT home......
Please tell her I said hello........

I'm there with you. I have always loved white, and our bedroom is all shades of white. It is very calming and restful. And, another great thing is that any color you choose as an accent really pops.

Enjoy the purity, but your home is beautiful and such a reflection of your spirit.

Hi, BJ! I used to be on RMS, Southerndecor. I left a few pics up, in case I go back, but blogging takes most of time...which I absolutely love! I could identify with your post on changing things, when you saw new ideas on RMS....I was breaking my husband! LOL! I changed my dining room twice and two bedrooms! LOL! Most of the ideas I find in blogland, I can incorporate in my decor! Much better! :)

I LOVE your blue and white collection! Timeless! Blue and white looks so crisp and is like black...goes with anything! LOL! You have some really unique, beautiful pieces!

Hope you don't mind that I am adding you to my favorites roster. I would love to come back and see what new things you have posted! Your blog is really nice!

I hear you, BJ!

Every now and then I say to Hubby.... "I want to just paint everything white and get white slipcovers and then have a big room full of all these pillows and throws and props of different colors to bring out when the mood strikes!"

But the fear I see in his face stops me dead in my tracks......sigh....only in my dreams, I'm afraid!

Hi, BJ -
The white room is refreshing and relaxing. It would be great to have a get-away that looks like that. Thanks for stopping by my blog again and for leaving your sweet comments. I love to hear from you. I can't wait to hear about your retreat time after you come back. I'll be back soon to see what you have to share.

I think you and I were separated at birth .... I love this calm and serene look too. Out here in the high desert of Central Oregon, the lava dust would completely destroy the white! Have a great day.

I always fantasize about an all white space. But I would have to find something to do with all the creatures (both 2 and 4 legged) who insist on living with me;)

I think there should be an all-white spa for women only. Will someone please get on this for me? Thanks.

Hi BJ,
I totally agree, months ago I felt in love with cottage style, pure, simple and very bright. Today I went to look for some furniture and my new kitchen and I am devastated since I didn't find a single peace of furniture in white. Here people probably still live in the 80's I don't know. Well I guess I will have to do some repainting - lot of repainting!

I have the same problem you do, I see beautiful rooms and get all confused about what my real direction in decorating is. I like so many things, this look included! But I have come to realize that sometimes picturing myself in that room helps me realize that it isnt really what I would be comfortable or happy with.
I love white and texture, and some day I would love to do an all white guestroom maybe, but I love color too much to give it up. Looking at your home I am sure you are the same way. Can you see yourself in a sterile white environment like that for any amount of time? I would have to have at least one accent color or it wouldnt be me:>)

I would get it dirty for sure...LOL!

It is pretty though!☺

What do they say, everything is bigger and better in Texas??? You may put my little tea party to shame! LOLOL! But I am so looking forward to it, so I'm waiting on that invitation and post! Thanks for steering me (no pun intended, lol), to the blog of the ranch lady...going to check her out now! ~Rhonda :)

Oh bj, I always say that my second house will be all in whites and creams, or maybe whites and blues, or perhaps whites and pale greens...

You get the idea...

You're too funny about Rate My Space! But I know just what you mean. I adore white, yet always end up with color on my home. Had done my sewing room in beautiful cream paint and all-white accessories; but THEN I found this very colorful fabric I adored. Bought the whole bolt, made drapes for my sewing room and a table skirt for my sewing table!

Hey BJ..Girl I know what you mean..I was the same way...ohhhhh those rooms make you ohhhh and ahhhh yourself to death...they are gorgeous...I see those cottage creamy whites and I just think..wow...I could do that...but then I turn and look around at my darker colors and I love them...how in the world can you love so many different styles! lol I always try...like when I painted my kitchen cabinets that creamy white..I lived with it for one day..they turned out beautiful and so creamy but I had to put mocha glaze on them to age and deepen them more to my style...If you do change alittle...do like I do...keep the old stuff in the shed...just in case! lol lol Love ya girl!!!

Hi BJ,
I have such a tough time deciding what decorating style I am. I love it all! I so agree with you about white. It's so clean, and fresh and calming. I have two kids and two big dogs, so I don't think I'll be able to find out for quite some time if it gets boring. LOL!

I know exactly what you mean BJ! We have just redone our daughters bedroom and our hallway in all white. Her bedroom looks awesome! I will be posting pics in a few days, just need to finish up tweaking it! This decorating never ends does it, but wow it's fun! lol

Hey BJ! I LOVE the white look but ask myself the same question: "Would I get tired of no color?"

Mary said...

BJ,

I am not a lover of white. My house is too "lived in" for white. Can you imagine Meeko sneaking up on a white couch. It does look pretty in the photos though. It's nice to dream about all the different look, that's for sure.

Thanks so much for your comments on my sunset poem.

Blessings,
Mary

Good morning Bj :)

Ironically, I talked Rich into loving color in every room and now, I'm having a love affair with white. The only thing that's stopping me is the kids and 3 dogs. I hate doing laundry as it is, so I'm hoping this is just a passing faze ;)

off to read more....

Hi there BJ. This is deborala from RMS ... I am very flattered that you like my little cottage room. I'm a single mom and really on a buget so it's nice to get such positive feedback. I have two daughters and a golden retriever. The couch is slip covered and none of the furniture is precious ... all older furniture that I painted or that was made for me (well that is precious in a different way) everything is made to be used. Going all white is very difficult ... have to do it in steps and I purposefully did not take out the darker neutrals (if I really committed to the look I would have painted my beams and the fireplace white and I just couldn't do it.... well I'm still thinking about the fireplace, but never paint the beams.) I have done yellow accessories for spring and now am changing to blue for the summer. The white background lets me get my color fix without having to go to great expense. In fact, I feel that I'm actually able to experiment more with color now that I have used a white background. I occasionally will put all the color accessories away and do all white. I think that because of all the wood in my home, it never feels sterile to me. Also, when using all white you really have to look at texture ... which means you can use anything ... the more shades of white and the more the materials differ the better it looks ... heck I can find an old urn that I left out in the yard a few years ago, wash it off and put it in the room and it works lol! Thanks again for visiting my home and contacting me on RMS. Have a wonderful day ... and I'll be back, this looks like a fun spot. Deb
