THE THRILL OF THE HUNT...there's nothing like it !

While I was out doing errands this afternoon, I stopped at my favorite THRIFT haunt...

If I find something GOOD........I call the shop "JUNQUE PARADISE"......
If I DON'T find anything I just love......then it is "JUNK...PERIOD!" :)

TODAY, IT IS "JUNQUE PARADISE".....
I saw this BEAUTY from across the shop the minute I stepped inside the door....

Isn't it so pretty?

Can you see the CROWN and ENGLAND on it?
That has GOT to mean that it's GOOD....right?
(remember now, ladies..
TONY BLAIR is English!
*sigh *swoon*
faint *dream *giggle *roll eyes *slober

and...can you see that it was $4.95 ? FOUR DOLLARS and NINETY-FIVE CENTS!

Oh, my gosh.................. I almost ripped my purse to death getting my check book out!!

BUT WAIT....there's another piece, right beside it....At this point, I am totally EXCITED.....like wetting my pants excited. Ever had that feeling? And, don't you just love it...the hands shake, the forehead sweats, your ears start ringing.....

What is this smaller bowl for? It has an opening for a ladle but it seems awfully small for GRAVY.......any idea?
It's also from ENGLAND.....

and can you see the $3.95 price I paid for it??

I would say this was my LUCKY DAY......

Aren't they a lovely set? For $9.00? Oh, my......
and.....can you guess WHERE I put them.....
...... instantly? I'll bet Lucy can guess..... :)

They fit right in with all my other blue dishes (so sorry, Mary...I ALMOST felt guilty buying these when I KNOW how much you love BLUE DISHES...)

...and were just perfect for the cake holder on the mantle in the dining room.

I had a super day thrifting....and since I seem to NEVER be satisfied, I am glad I saved the other shops for another day.....
BLESSINGS,
bj

Wow, BJ! They are just perfect for your space on your mantle. I love the blue design.

I can't tell by the picture exactly how small the dish is, but it could be a sugar dish with an opening for the spoon.

Thanks for sharing you junque adventure for the day.

What a glorious find. Do you suppose the small one with a place for the ladle is a jam bowl...like for the jam they would use on scones?

They certainly look great at your place.

Perfect place for your gorgeous new pieces. I wouldn't have left them there, either. They are such treasures. I think I should leave things here at home unfinished and head to the thrift store!

Thank you for stopping by my blog and for leaving your sweet comments. Yes, we should start collecting windows. I have ONE! Does that count? It would be perfect for either a skylight or the one that opens above the door. My sweetheart isn't too thrilled with my thoughts on that. He sees where it's headed. Do you think I could just collect windows and build it myself? Why not? Martha would!

oh my goodness BJ!
I almost needed a "depends" reading this...I was laughing so hard!
Perhaps the little opening can be used for an IV drip for your favorite whatever!! No need for traditional usage options here... Re-purpose that baby..make it useful!
Thanks for asking about me.. I have been so busy working and painting that I have not had any time for my blog..I will try to post this weekend so we can catch up on the latest. I miss you too!!!

What a find and what prices! I would call this a red letter day, whatever that means! ha! They look lovely in the cake holder. I need help, do you hire out? I have all of this 'stuff' in cupboards just dying to get out and be looked at and I just don't seem to get at it. Too busy sewing and blogging.....SIGH.... Have a wonderful weekend!!

What beautiful dishes, BJ. You have the best luck finding pretty things at a thrift shop. Maybe I don't go often enough.

I have something for you on my blog.

BJ...I love these pretties! What wonderful treasures you found and they look great on the cake holder. Could the smaller one be for jams of jellies? Being English, maybe lemon curd...just guessing. Have a beautiful weekend...hugs, Linda

What a deal those dishes are! The smaller one could be a sugar bowl. It was hard to see the marking in the photo but they could be old. If you tire of them I'll be glad to take them off your hands for you! Lucky you.
