Am I getting lazy ?????
If you get hungry for warm....NAY......hot, "homemade" cookies, here's a great way to get them in a hurry....Sorta SEMI-HOMEMADE, if you will.
For these yesterday, I used BETTY CROCKER OATMEAL COOKIE mix........
I added everything the instructions told me to add .......AND..............
I added a cup full of WALNUTS...oooooo, we do love WALNUTS. (pecans and peanuts and almonds, too.....:o)
I added 2 teaspoons of REAL Vanilla.....and a big dash of Cinnamon.
When my kids are going on trips to MEXICO and ask what I'd like for them to bring back for me, I ALWAYS ask for VANILLA. And, doesn't Vanilla smell so good??? Yummy.....I always want to TASTE it, right from the bottle but......I did that ONCE.....NOT a good thing! But, oh so amazing when it goes into baking, oatmeal, and did you ever add a cap ful to your WAFFLE mix? UMMMMMM....it is so good. I'm sure there's other things you add Vanilla to that I don't even know about. Let me know, ok?
Oh, and I laugh when I think about a favorite aunt, my AUNT LILLIAN....she used to dab a bit of Vanilla Extract behind her ears and other pulse spots. Probably couldn't afford perfume back then but EVERYONE had a bottle of delicious smelling VANILLA in their kitchen cabinet. I seldom open a bottle of it that my AUNT LILLIAN doesn't pop into my mind. She was such fun and I loved her so....OH, well, that is another story, altogether! *wink ;)
I also added a good handful of raw OATMEAL....seems to give the cookies a little more oatmealy taste as well as a little more body. I actually prefer the large grained oatmeal....the REGULAR, longer cooking oatmeal. This time, I had the instant, tiny, little bitty stuff. I imagine I picked up the wrong box when shopping. I do that a lot, too....like the other day, I bought coffee BEANS and didn't realize it until I got ready to make a pot of coffee. Shaking my head thinking, "WHAT was I thinking?", I reached for my electric grinder when I realized I gave the coffee bean grinder to a GRANDSON....SHOOT, I had to use an antique grinder, took way too long so that bag of coffee beans will go to GRANDSON!
ANYWAY....Just bake the cookies as directed and serve HOT with a cold glass of SWEET milk...and, as you know, homemade cookies are excellent COLD, too, especially with a hot cup of favorite coffee or tea! We are partial to cookies around our house.....like 'em a whole lot.
When I was a young girl...every one drank Buttermilk or" Sweet" Milk. No one drinks buttermilk much any more and I never hear it called "SWEET" milk any more, either. In fact, my grand kids look at me rather strangely when I slip and say, "Want a glass of Sweet milk?" They look at each other and roll their eyes....
ANYWAY......
Have a SWEET day!

Now, this is just not fair. Here at sit at work looking (and drooling) at your yummy cookies.
Oatmeal cookies are my all time favorite, and I am a firm believer that the more nuts you add when baking the better.
I think I just may have to try your semi-homemade cookies this weekend.
Happy munching.
Oh, my grandmother used to say buttermilk and sweet milk. I had not thought of that in a long time. Thanks for the reminder and the smile. i have to go wipe the drool off of my face now.
Oh how yummy!! I love oatmeal cookies! I'm going to have to figure out a recipe with apple sauce replacing fat, egg whites replacing whole eggs, and Splenda replacing sugar... Do you think that would work?? Guess I will try it someday and find out!
Put the tea kettle on!!!! I will be right over!!!....Smiles
BJ those cookies are making me drool on my keyboard! I need a bib handy for all the good recipes that people post!!
I LOVE Dancing With The Stars too! We weren't allowed to dance when I was growing up so now I do what I call 'The Baptist Shuffle'! ha! It's pretty sad looking but I sure love to watch those pros! And those outfits are amazing, I don't know how they keep them in place, probably some duct tape!! heehee!
Come by again soon!! :o)
Coooookies..... I love em too :) I'm definitely making those sometime soon!
I love that story about your aunt using Vanilla for purfume. Rich loves Vanilla, so I think I might try it ;)
My Papa (grandpa) used to drink buttermilk! Now I use it instead of regular milk in my pancakes and they are soooo much better :)
I just love your posts Bj. This is so much more fun than the "other place", IMHO.
Hugs back,
Rue :)
BJ,
My mom still drinks buttermilK! She also likes cornbread and milk. The cornbread is broken up into a glass with milk poured over it. Have you ever heard of that? I have heard one of my uncles mention it too. It is something they use to eat when growing up.
Take care
Teresa
Yummy! I'm going to streach my hand into my computer screen, and get one cookie from that plate! :)
Happy Easter!

Good Afternoon BJ,
Oh my word, your Oatmeal cookies looks so good. I am about to finish up my last cup of coffee and they would go really well with my last few sips. LOL. "THANK YOU" for sharing the recipe with us as well. I sure wish I lived closer to you or you lived closer to me. LOL. I would be at your house bright and early every morning for coffee and something good to eat. LOL. We are all moved in but still have unpacking to do. I am just doing a little bit each day. I signed up for your Giveaway in your post below. I also did a post very early this morning as well. Take care my friend and have a great day. May God Bless You and Yours.
Love & Hugs,
Karen H.

Hi BJ, we sure are going to have a sweet time in the Bloom household, we found a recipe for Key Lime Pie which I've never made or even tasted before - I'm not much of a cook, wish me luck!
Hope you have a lovely Easter.
p.s. I didn't enter your Giveaway because I've won too many lately, hope you understand, it's not that I didn't like it!

Those cookies sure do look yummy. I'll have to try them some time. I went shopping today otherwise I could have made them for the Easter musical but I don't have the cookie mix.
I remember relatives using the vanilla for perfume. And I made the mistake of tasting it once too, once was enough.
I love oatmeal cookies..good and good for you..especially with MILK
love and hugs, deena
Just wanted to wish you Happy Spring and Happy Easter!!!!!
Suzy
Yummy!! I smiled when you said "sweet" milk. My Mom still calls it sweet milk. Even at drive-thru's! It used to drive me crazy when I was younger. But that's just Mama!! Now she does it to my kids and it really gets my oldest!
Thanks for making me smile!!
:)Brittany
I like so much oatmeal cookies. I must do some again one of these days.
