This beautiful, stunning, awesome and wonderful collection of white ironstone belongs to the wife of BRUCE DERN, the actor and it is a picture out of a magazine. I saw it several years ago and fell so in love, I decided to start a collection for myself. I already had a couple of pieces that belonged to my mom but never really got interested in it until I saw the above collection and then....I started DREAMING about it. I hit every thrift store, garage sale and moving sale in town for months and months. I don't have a collection that will even come close to MRS. DERN'S but....I'm getting there. I add pieces to it as I can and Ebay is a fabulous place to start.
Dinner plates and dessert plates are the easiest to find. I especially like the white, divided plates. I wonder why they don't make them anymore? I would dearly love to have some everyday plates that were divided as I HATE for my food to touch!! Eeeek !
But, I have gravy boats, sugar bowls, cereal bowls, berry bowls, not nearly enuf large pitchers.... There is a tiny teddy bear up there on the top shelf, left corner of this hutch...my beautiful daughter gave it to me several years ago and I just LOVE him. I'll have a post soon about some more of my favorite things......
As with all collections, I've really had fun with it and I am always searching for another "I've just gotta have it" piece. AND, wouldn't I LOVE to find a hugh, pine hutch like MRS. DERN'S to display all of my pieces on. I keep looking and watching but I haven't found one yet that is large enuf and that I can afford. I'll keep looking, tho.
Collections are just a fun way to make life a little more enjoyable than it already is, I think. I LOVE COLLECTIONS.
A few of my sugar bowls and I wanted to show you the little silver tray collection I just started, too. I had one and found the other 2 at the thrift store just this last week. They were 42 cents each....I shined them up and they reflect almost like mirrors. I like silver shiny or tarnished either one but I guess I really like it all shined up the most.
Collections are just a fun way to make life a little more enjoyable than it already is, I think. I LOVE COLLECTIONS.
Since I am unable to get out of the house for at least one week and 3 weeks before I can drive, I may have to resort to using some things I've already used in posting. ANYWAY, it's still a way I can keep in touch with all of you !
HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY !

Hi BJ~ Thanks for stopping by my blog! So nice to meet you. I read in your profile that your grandkids call you "Memaw". That's what my boys call my Mom. I grew up in TX...and come from a long line of "Memaws"! Take care of yourself and thanks too for sharing the beautiful photos of your ironstone collection!
BJ, I enjoyed looking at your collection. The first thing I noticed was the divided plate. I love those, too. I have two divided plates by Anchor Hocking, but they are old. I would love to find some more divided ones.
I hope you are feeling better and on the mend.
I was so happy to see that you are back!! I am very glad that everything went okay. I love your collection's I like the white hutch they are in, I think I like your hutch better than the one in the magazine.

So glad you are up and about enough to post. Your ironstone collection is fantastic. You have a wonderful start. Your home looks so cozy and comfortable. I wish I lived close enough to stop by with a pot of chicken soup, homemade bread and BIG pot of tea. Wouldn't that be fun? Thanks for sharing your home with us. ~Adrienne~
