WE DID IT !!!

A couple of years ago, we decided it WAS time to "do some stuff around the house" but we didn't just sit, walk or lie around it. We, 2 senior OLDER (notice I didn't say OLD) people, doubled the size of our living room. It grew from a 20 x 17 room to a 20 x34, but, believe me, NOT overnight.
It did take us awhile....a LOOOONG while and I cried a lot and he sweated a lot and we ate out a lot.....but.....WE DID IT.

I've always thought these kinds of little nooks and crannys added personality to a room.....sweet hubby made sure I had an alcove in this new part of an old room and I do love it.

The black shutters on each side of my big windows were found in a junque shop and they were pink. I took them home, spray painted them black and hubby hung them for me. I love the texture they add to my room.

The vintage, English chest I got at a garage sale for $40.00 several years ago ...the lady selling it had just had it restored and refinished and she didn't like the color. I did !!!!! :)

FINALLY....at the other end of this room, I was finally able to have the wall of bookshelves I've always wanted. 2 chairs with an ottoman, a good reading lamp, a little tiny table to sit my coffee cup on and right across from me is a wood burning stove. I LOVE IT ALL !!

There's the 2 leather sofas (I would love to have red fabric sofas but hubby loves leather and....well, he lives here, too and now I kind of like them ok) and room for a little loveseat in sage.

I always loved seeing sofas facing across from each other but I never had the room to arrange them like that....until now.

WE DID IT !

What a great job you've done BJ! I didn't know you did all that, what a huge job it must have been! I love your wall of book shelves, always wanted one myself. I love the way you've arranged everything too ..... and you say you're not a decorator!

I love your book shelves. They are just what I want my husband to put in the room in the basement. At first I thought I wanted a new craft room, but then I told him I want it to be a library with a futon so our oldest has a place to sleep when he comes to visit. So far he agrees, so I may get my library yet.

Hi, BJ, I am so glad I stumbled on your blog - it's awesome. You and I seem to have quite a bit in common!. I love your living room it is beautiful!! I, too, have a bookcase on one end of my den, however, it's not nearly as big as yours. I also love treasure hunts at yard sales, thrift stores and antique stores. There are several little nooks and crannies in my home. Just recently arranged a little reading area in a warm, cozy corner. My husband is the BEST handyman and does all of our home improvements. He can hear me mention I'd like a change made in the house and it's as good as done. I am so fortunate to have a good, Christian man to share my life with!! I don't have a blog, YET - but yours has inspired me - maybe I'll give it a try. I'll be visiting often.

Hi Mom,
I finally got registered so I could leave you comments. I love your blog! You have done such a great job on it, just like on everything else you touch. You are so talented! I hope I got a fraction of your creativity and style. Sometime when my kids are bigger, maybe I can tap into that. I'm proud of you! Love you, Stacy
