BITS and BOBS of a GALLEY KITCHEN

 Hi, all....
here it is...about time to start another week....
the first week  of OCTOBER.
HOOOOLY COW....
how come this year completely skipped the month of SEPTEMBER...???

Whaaat ????
We DID have September....well.....it must have been the fastest moving September of all time.

We've really worked at this moving thing....
We had NO idea it would take us a year to get moved....
we thought the olden house would sell quicker than ....
let's see.....
it was on the market 7 months before it sold....
(AND...if these people that are in contract with us don't sell THEIR house
by December 3rd....the whole deal will be OFF.)
Oh, Lordy....please pray for us....!!

We are almost finished with the little closet that will house our stackable  washer and dryer.... Once we get the washer out of the middle of the floor, we can begin to move our furniture in....

Hoping to do that this coming week....

We are sooo ready to SLEEP there....WAKE up there...
LIVE there !!

Being desperate to have a little LAW AND ORDER, when I'm not needed to help Mr. Sweet in the building, I am unpacking and putting things away. I've made quite a dent in the amount of stacked boxes...
I am beginning to see that infamous LIGHT.

So many things I can't put away until our furniture is there....hutches and etc....

I wanted to share with you a few bits and bobs about the kitchen that I am so in love with.

I am sooo in love with this awesome tile back splash...
and the faucet....OMYGOODNESS....amazing...
I even like the light switches.....:)

and.....this stove is the ONE IN MY DREAMS...
Gas...
5 burners
stainless....

I took down all those little tiny COMMAND hooks...
not liking the looks of those....
I wonder what in the world they could have hung on so MANY ??

I'm not one to hang a lot on the walls of my kitchen...
a nice drawer is right behind me when I'm standing at the stove
that holds all my hot pads and cup towels.

This is such a dream kitchen...

The island is HUGE....and wonderful !!

roll out drawers for pots and pans...
a large lazy susan in the corner cabinet which pulls out for easy access...
twin trash bins that pull out....

I can't get a lot of work done due to the fact that I stand at these doors and
stare at that awesome pool and hot tub...
I'm just not used to a POOL right outside my door.

One day while we were working,
we got the nicest little rain...

Loved seeing rain drops falling in the swimming pool....

ISN'T THIS A BEAUTY IN RED !

While unloading a box at the Goodwill truck the other day, a woman drove up beside me and I spied this bright red, heavy cast iron GUM BALL MACHINE in the back of her car.

I asked her if I could buy it since she was  giving it to Goodwill but she gave it to me instead.

I had one when our grands were little but one of the boys knocked it over and the glass part hit the brick of the fireplace.

Now.....
I just need to buy some gum balls.

I'm looking for some of those special
kinds....flavored and yummy.

Back to the kitchen.....

I am just unpacking and placing things around,
letting them 'fall where they may' for the time being.

The right time will happen when, all at once,
as if wiggling my nose,
every thing will be in it's proper place....

I still have a box of things like  my canister set...
coffee maker....
all the things that we've had to use right up to the last minute of moving.

This kitchen counter will have a new look every few days, I'm sure...
altho,
I just have 2 more boxes with dishes to unpack .
YAY

I adore the long, wide ISLAND that separates the galley kitchen from the dining area.
On the kitchen side, there's drawers and doors and storage, O MY.
O, yeah....I've already told you that...

I am just so excited to have such an efficient, new kitchen...with such  pretty
cabinets, counter tops, beautiful stove and microwave....

I am not sure what the beautiful, black, reflective counter top is,
but I have started a STRONG LOVE AFFAIR with it.
It is PURE CLASS  !!

The above shows what I have placed on it for now....
I'm sure things might chance with the opening of the next box....:)

I hope all is well in YOUR world....
I'll be showing you more of MINE soon...

The DINING AREA  is finished and may I just say....
o, honey !

I hope we can convince our son and daughter in law how much we love and appreciate
this marvelous gift of our new home.

We are going to be so comfortable and happy there, I can't even find words !!

Take a few minutes to relax so you can enjoy your home when all is said and done. I feel for you as moving is just no fun. In the long run, it will all be worthwhile. Homes are really selling around here. Hope that happens in your case. Take care my friend.

Oh BJ your new kitchen is beautiful! And so much storage too! When I said in my original email to you that we have a lot in common I don't think i realized just how much...your tile back splash is just like what we had installed in our kitchen earlier this year, and the countertop looks like ours as well...and of course I LOVE your black and white checks! I will email you a few pictures of our kitchen/dining area so you can see what I'm talking about (since I don't have a blog). Will be praying for a quick sale for the couple's house who is under contract for your home. You have a wonderful son and daughter-in-law and I'm sure they already know how much you love and appreciate your beautiful new home. Isn't family the best!! Hugs, Suzy from PA

BJ: If the contract on your house is contingent on the buyers selling their house, your house should still be on the market but stating that you have a contingent offer. If a firm offer comes in, the first buyers would have a certain number of hours (usually 48) to say they would take the house anyway.

The first house we sold in Lubbock had a buyer knock on the door (it wasn't even on the market) and ask if we'd be willing to sell. The price was right and we did. The second house was listed when the interest rates were sky high We had a buyer right away and held a second mortgage for them for a year.

Hope all works out for you!

Best,
Bonnie
