Oh, boy....we all HATE SPAM !!
BLOGGER has given us a special file for SPAM that we can delete it all at once. YAY !!
Yep....hate SPAM ....
WELL.................
EXCEPT THIS SPAM....
At the risk of being "ran out of BlogTown on a rail",
I, HERE and NOW,
ADMIT
that I LOVE SPAM.
I do !!......I just LUV it.
**** Oh, I just heard a lot of GASPS out there.....
"canned meat...??....ewwwwww"
SPAM, sliced thinly, and FRIED (what..?...more gasps...??)
is a delight to my taste buds.
OOO, yes...this morning we had
SPAM....
Buttermilk Waffles....(those sweet ones that come frozen....in that cute cardboard box :)
sliced red, juicy, sweet and totally delicious Strawberries
and.............ok....get ready for your third gasp....
whipped cream
.......my cup says.....
ENJOY LIFE...
EAT HEALTHY
Well, I am getting 1/2 of it right.....
I DO ENJOY LIFE....!!
:)
...I'm pretty sure FRIED SPAM
isn't considered HEALTHY...
...and pretty sure most don't think SWEET WHIPPED CREAM
is a healthy food.
WHAT CAN I SAY ?
...I'm a REBEL......
and if I die in my sleep tonight, I will go, smiling, remembering that
GREAT, UNHEALTHY
breakfast I had this morning.
Before you gather a lynching mob and come after me...
slice a THIN piece of Spam, fry it up and give it a try....
then, call me, and I'll bring the WHIPPED CREAM...:)

ReplyDeleteI am laughing out loud..I love spam and fried bologna sandwiches too...My mom always made us spam sandwiches when we were young with a little mayo on white bread...yummy it was so delicious...I remember years later when Mr. S was helping to put a roof on her home and she said "lunch is ready" it was fried spam sandwiches...lol ...I thought he would die....thanks for the memories...
ReplyDeleteEverything looks delicious except...okay, I've never had Spam so who am I to complain? I'm just wondering what it's made of. ;-D
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Oh Bea and I were just talking about this last week. She has made a calculated decision to enjoy her life and if that includes eating some foods that she has denied herself for long years so be it. Everything in moderation. I may have to buy a can of spam. It has been forty years since I last had a bite! Whipped cream has to be better than the plastic stuff.
ReplyDeleteHi BJ!
ReplyDeleteJust had to comment because now...I am seriously craving some fried Spam :) Hope all is well with you!
When we were first married, I made a casserole of baked beans topped with sliced spam. I made it all the time, however I lost the recipe. Sounds good right now.
ReplyDeleteAnn
Hey, BJ. I am right with you, or at least I was about 40 years ago. My dad love Spam, and my mom served it quite often. I loved it then but not quite so sure about now since my cholostral numbers are bigger than my age, and that's reaching some..But I do know that I still love waffles smothered in whipped cream!!..Happy Wednesday..Judy
ReplyDeletenever tried it
ReplyDeleteI have such sweet memories of fried spam and eggs and spam sandwiches in the summer when I was a kid....It really tasted great...I like it much better than bologna! I don't think it is quite as good though as it used to be, seems to be a little different but is still good and I always keep a couple of cans in my emergency stash in the basement! Thanks for bringing back the memories! Blessings, Linda
ReplyDeleteSsssssshhhh don't tell anyone but I like Spam too. =) The hubby does too. Kids haven't experienced it yet. Great post!
ReplyDeleteJeanine
My husband loves it too....but I prefer RING bologna.
ReplyDeleteHahaha, this is a GREAT post- in fact I read it to my hubs and he laughed.
ReplyDeleteYou see he loves that stuff. Yikes.
I was a vegetarian from 1975 to about 2005, so I tread lightly and eat meat sparingly - but Spam? Not sure I will ever be THAT hungry.
As for the berries and whipped cream and waffles? I will be over in the am, will be coffee - hey, and while we're being all healthy and such? I'll bring the Bailey's for our coffee - two shots do ya?
: - )
Hugs.
My mum used to fry bologna all the time. Fried bologna and mashed potatoes with a big pat of butter on top! It was so good. Spam was always mixed with relish and made into sandwiches - ah the memories!
ReplyDeletebj ... no matter what you fix, you make everybody happy and hungry. I likely have eaten Spam in our married life, but do not think I would want to try it now. I will be happy with strawberries and waffles.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Audrey Z. @ Timeless Treasures
Even though I haven't had Spam in years, I love it on two slices of plain white bread that has been slathered with mayonnaise. Slice the Spam to fit the bread and then spoon sweet pickle relish all over the Spam. The drink of choice with this sandwich is an icy cold Dr. Pepper. However, I would never admit this to anyone!!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
bj- I will send YOU any SPAM that I get! My hubby used to make SPAM burgers...ummm...yuck....lol Pass the waffles, please- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteWe used to eat Spam when I was newly married and learning how to cook. I think we got burned out on it and haven't eaten it since. Now fried bologna is another matter. Love it once in a while. I've even been known to fry a hotdog when I'm too lazy to boil them. Nuking them is yucky, imo. I'm good with the whipped cream, too. Heck, at my age I don't care if I eat a few fried foods or not. :)
ReplyDeleteBtw, love your blog look!
I hadn't thought of Spam in years. And look, on the can it says 25% less sodium. Now you've made me hungry for it.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid, my mom fixed it about once in a blue moon, but I liked it. I am wanting some now...on white bread, with mustard and potato chips on the side. I can feel my cholesterol quivering, preparing to leap another 20 points just thinking about it. If I had only read this before going to the grocery store for the week, I'd be having Spam sandwiches for dinner tomorrow.
There's a reason they still sell it... Folks do like it-enjoy:@)
ReplyDeleteGirl, you always have a big smile here waiting for us. My husband loves it that way, and so did my daddy.♥
ReplyDeletewould you be shocked to know - i've never had SPAM? i've had email SPAM, but not the canned ham kind. ha. ha!!! ( :
ReplyDeleteI am with you Sister, LOVE Spam... the kind in the can NOT the computer kind:) I slice it thin with some butter in the pan... fried spam sandwich, YUM! Have a blessed day dear friend, hope you made it thru the night:) HUGS!
ReplyDeleteWell, since you admitted it, I will too. I love it as well. My mom makes the most wonderful spam salad stuff for sandwiches. Every time someone eats it, they rave. Then they ask how she makes it and get freaked out that it tastes so wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI do NOT like Spam, fried, right out of the can, in sandwiches...any way it's fixed. But, Bud LOVES it. Phyllis mentions, above, that she likes fried bologna sandwiches...me too. With cheese. LOL
ReplyDeleteI do not like spam. I do love strawberries. I have to watch my carbs and sugar intake so I do not eat waffles or pancakes anymore but I used to love them. Have a blessed day. Madeline
ReplyDeleteActually, there are no gasps coming from MY way! I have always liked fried spam in sandwiches.. As an alternative to bacon in my BLTs, or as a grilled spam and cheese sandwich.. YUMMY!!! (0; Have a great day BJ! ~tina
ReplyDeleteIt's been a long time, but fried Spam is something I do like!!
ReplyDeleteoH, I too love Spam and fried bologna sandwichs, both remind me of my childhood in Astoria-Queens and my mom, lol! Maybe I should have one day for lunch, specially the sandwichs! I loved this post, sweet friend, really fun! I also loved you coming over to visit...next time I'll have Spam for you and dessert too! Big hugs,
ReplyDeleteFABBY
Just dessert for me thank you ahahahahah
ReplyDeleteThe truth is you can make everything look good but that?!?!?! You make it look good but not good enough to eat ahahahah
But it sure looks good. Why did you mention what it was?! If you didn't we'd be passing the plate for seconds ;)
Wishing you a wonderful week,
Teresa
HI BJness! I hope no one is looking because I LOVE Spam too! I grew up on just like that - sliced and fried. I love it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I love a Spam sandwich too! I love how you feed me! :)
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
I'm not a SPAM fan, but at your house, BJ, I would GOBBLE it up! Because everything at your house always looks so delish!
ReplyDeleteBut if it was scrapple, I'd pass..
Oh, BJ...I ate lots of spam as a little girl during the war. I am embarrassed to admit it...I love it too!
ReplyDeleteBalisha
And did you know it's Gluten Free? Have always liked but after finding out I was Celiac this is one of the few lunch meats that is GF. You must see the Spamettes from the town in Minnesota that makes it. So funny!
ReplyDeleteDonna Doyle
you do what makes you happy.
ReplyDeletehey, i used to eat liverwurst spread on toast.
Your strawberries look so good, BJ. I like spam with rice wrapped in seaweed like sushi. Yum!...Christine
ReplyDeleteSPAM makes me think of my childhood- good thoughts.
ReplyDeleteExcept when the Bay of Pigs incident occurred. My mother, like most other people panicked and made a rush on the store to make sure our pantry was full. She bought cans and cans of SPAM. When no war materialized, we had to eat all that SPAM.
I have just realised how contorted my face was reading your post! We used to have spam fritters for school dinners, I still have nightmares! Thanks for the memories and the smiles you have brought to my face. xx
ReplyDeleteI love to chicken fry spam, it's the poor man's steak! I love spam salad too, we just had spam salad sandwiches for lunch. You certainly have good taste and I'm not gasping!
ReplyDeleteHi BJ,
ReplyDeleteMy lil ole Daddy loved fried Spam and this brings back fond memories of him and the meals that he loved. I can almost smell that spam cooking in the skillet. Hope you are doing well and thanks for sharing with Full Plate Thursday.
Miz Helen
Oh girl you make me laugh. I haven't had fried Spam since I was a kid. I really did quite like it as I recall. lol! May just have to give it a whirl. It certainly makes a fun vase and waffles with cream. Well, what's not to love? Thanks for sharing with SYC.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
Jut got to love you, BJ! I haven't had Spam since Mom used it! Your post made me smile! The waffles look delicious! I am delighted that you shared with Home and Garden Thursday,
