.....well, with most of our STUFF packed and moved,
I don't seem to have a lot of things to blog about other than FOOD...
sorry....:(
Hi, Everyone...
I don't seem to have a lot of things to blog about other than FOOD...
sorry....:(
Hi, Everyone...
Getting ready for another good breakfast...OUR MAIN MEAL OF THE DAY, I started GATHERING.
I bought this vintage tole tray several years ago off EBAY....
It's very heavy and in really great shape....
just perfect for serving a spectacular breakfast.
THIS is my beloved alcove in my living room that MR. SWEET included in the addition to our room
several years ago.
a great spot for MANY things....
a great spot for MANY things....
That's the wicker desk I found at GOODWILL several years ago...
one of my favorite furniture pieces and it WILL make the move with us....
I am going to miss this sweet spot when we move...
It's an awesome place to stage photos ....especially for a spectacular breakfast.
If you've not tried
SISTER SCHUBERT'S
CINNAMON ROLLS,
you have really been left behind.
...they are sooo good...very yeasty, which I love.
I love them (and donuts) placed on my griddle, a little butter and warmed thru and thru.....
OMYGOODNESS...they are goood.
Then, add to all that goodness, a pot full of CINNAMON CRUMB CAKE COFFEE.....
Mercy me, I was so weak in the knees just smelling this awesome coffee brewing.
A pot of pretty, healthy IVY can really looked all dressed up with a catchy bow....
Isn't it amazing how much better foods taste when served in a pretty setting...~
These berries made me wonder about how to keep them fresher longer.....
I found these tips on storing berries
HERE
1. Timing is everything: Only rinse berries right before you use them. Water increases the likelihood they'll start to mold.
2. Don't soak: Place them in a colander and rinse water over them instead of fully submerging them.
3. Give them a quick chill: You know how sun-ripened, warm berries have that delightful soft messiness to them? Well, that is what makes them taste just like summer, but it's also what makes them incredibly delicate and difficult to wash. So a good tip is to refrigerate them for an hour or so when you bring them home from the market. They're easier to rinse when they've had a chance to firm up just a bit.
4. Storage is key: After washing berries, let them rest in a colander in the refrigerator and another vessel that has some air circulation. This will help them dry out more considerably than if just placed in a bowl.
5. Avoid the crisper: Many people believe that berries will go bad more quickly if kept in the crisper because the air has a higher humidity and doesn't circulate as much as throughout the rest of the refrigerator. In a very unscientific sampling, I find this to be true and follow this myself.
If ya don't have time to make a pretty breakfast thru the week....
and, believe me..I had many, MANY years of not having time for ANYthing in the mornings,
at least try to have one pretty breakfast...maybe on a Sat. morning....or get up early enuf on Sunday
Love you all....
xoxo bj

Just gorgeous food presentation and so inspiring to me. Blessings to you as you prepare to move.
ReplyDeleteOh BJ you had me at cinnamon...I buy Sister Schubert rolls often and I have never seen the cinnamon rolls... Yum. I am going shopping tomorrow and I will look for them.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy all of your posts. I don't care what you write about. I enjoy them all. :)
Your tole tray is really pretty. I like your style. Blessings, Becky
You do a wonderful job on your presentations, bj. I always love to come here and see what you are up to- I leave feeling warm and hugged! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteLooks great! I must try the egg bake soon. Thanks!
ReplyDeletePretty setting indeed! Your breakfasts always look delicious to me, BJ. ~ Sarah
ReplyDeletePS
I stopped by earlier and your blog was void of any posts. Did you realize that?
As I read your post and then look at my (what can only be described as) bird seed with milk, I feel like jumping on a plane and joining you! I've just found your blog and will now follow to get some tasty inspiration for not only the food but the settings too! Chel x
ReplyDeleteHow could I be tired if I forget to eat?!
ReplyDeleteThe same way scientists discovered - amazing how we need scientists to tell us something a 5 year old would tell you from a mouth full of chocolate and sprinkles, uh? - that if you sing "Happy Birthday" the cake will taste better your tablescapes have the same effect if we remember to eat and pay attention to the food.
Thank you,
Teresa
The answer to your question is NO! I never get tired of seeing your yummy and beautiful creations with your breakfasts! You inspire me in so many ways! You create yummy food and make it all look so lovely... now I am hungry! Have a blessed day dear BJ, love you too:)
ReplyDeleteI never get tired of your breakfasts. They always look delicious, and always have me drooling. I want to be your neighbor.
ReplyDeleteSo much candy in one little post. I loved the berry storing tips, especially the one about chilling them for a little bit. I didn't know that, and I now have a cure for the mushies!
ReplyDeleteI could not agree more with what you said about making time, at least once a week, for a pretty breakfast. It's just a great way to start the day, IMO.
And I love your little alcove decked in wicker. Glad you're taking it to the new place. I am positive you will find the perfect sweet spot for it.
(Which I truly hope will be a move you can make very, very SOON!)
You make food looks soooo Good! I have never heard of those cinnamon rolls, do they have them in Michigan? I am in LOVE with your red tray....just sayin'! LOVE! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI never get tired of seeing all the yummy things you make, BJ! I can almost taste that cinnamon...YUM!
ReplyDeleteI have mega tray envy over that beautiful vintage tole tray. A Florida neighbor collected them, but she never had one that pretty.
Well that looks much better than my half of whole wheat English muffin with peanut butter and half a banana!
ReplyDeleteBJ,
ReplyDeleteWell, dear friend, that looks so delicious. . .glad I just had my breafkast or I'd be heading to the kitchen about now!
I agree with making breakfast special. When "Mr. Ed" and I both worked we set aside Sunday morning for our special breakfast time together. Now that we're retired, we enjoy Saturday & Sunday special breakfast times.
Thank you for continuing to blog through the process of moving. Dear one, I would never tire of your post. . .keep 'em coming!!!
Fondly,
Pat
good morning bj ... beautiful breakfast and presentation. Your Rose of Sharon blooms are beautiful. Enjoyable post as always. Now I need to go fix me a beautiful breakfast of dry cereal and strawberries and I will look out the window, watch the birds and enjoy the one or two blooming plants that I have in the yard.

That tray is beautiful. I've never had the cinnamon rolls, but we love that brand's dinner rolls, so I'll have to look for those. Good luck with the move. Thanks for vising my Care Package Themes site!
ReplyDeleteI left a comment earlier but looks like it did not go through. Anyway, where in FL did your daughter and fam go? Your breakfast made me hungry, looks so good and the presentation is beautiful. I love that desk nook. You will miss it. Good luck on your move, BJ. did you sell your house yet? Sorry I haven't been by. I have been traveling for a month now, actually more so I haven't been visiting blogs....Christine
ReplyDeleteSweetie, you are going to miss that little home..Mr. Sweet put a lot into making it special for you.
ReplyDeleteOne door closes and another opens for you.
I think my last door has closed..I cannot close another.
Hugs,
Mona
Hi BJ! Thanks for stopping by. Sometimes I think all we eat around here is breakfast food...my sons eat egg sandwiches as snacks, and my daughter is a toaster waffle kinda girl! Your red tray is super cute and just right for serving up something pretty. Good luck in your new home!
ReplyDeleteWell, breakfast at your house looks and sounds like a special occasion, for sure. Hope that your move goes smoothly! Thanks for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay

You are the cutest Betty Crocker kinda gal! I love visiting you. Have a sweet week.
ReplyDeleteNick heads back to Kansas and college on the 14th. Two of our children are heading to Las Vegas the same day! We will be sad. Especially for Nick because he will be nine hours away! Sigh!
Nick loves the Original Pancake House so we will take him to breakfast there before he leaves. We love having a good breakfast and I need to add some pretty presentations like you! Thanks sweet friend.
Awh BJ,
