Hi, Everybody.
BOY...this sitting around, waiting for PEOPLE...PEOPLE looking for a house ...is beginning to
PLAY ON OUR NERVES.
We've done just about everything needed to do to our house.
We keep the yard mowed, edged and weed-eated...
We make our beds EVERY SINGLE DAY with ALL the silly pillows in perfect place....
We keep our things dusted, floors vacuumed
(did I spell that right..? I never can remember if there's 2 c's or u's)
Our mirrors are sparkling as is our windows...
in other words...
we try to stay ready for realtors bringing potential buyers.
"Bring 'em on !"
I LUV the way these olden chairs are made but since I'm not in love with oak,
I painted 2 of my 4 dining chairs a few years ago....
SOME of you might remember that I bought 6 OFF-WHITE dining chairs from a good friend that I QUICKLY
FELL. IN. LOVE. WITH !

NOT needing more chairs for my dining room,
(I also have two benches that holds 4 little bottoms or 3 larger ones)....
I DID need some to use with my
(I also have two benches that holds 4 little bottoms or 3 larger ones)....
I DID need some to use with my
BLACK and WHITE CHECKED TABLE
in the living room that Mr. Sweet made for me.
SO OUT CAME THE FAVORITE BLACK SATIN SPRAY PAINT...
The clouds were gathering....and fast !
They got bigger.....and darker.....and still.....I PAINTED !
They got bigger.....and darker.....and still.....I PAINTED !
It was HOT...AND ...HUMID...
which ALWAYS calls for an ice creme FLOAT...
which ALWAYS calls for an ice creme FLOAT...
I just love Peanut Butter Crackers with an ice creme float....which is all totally beside the point...
But, 4 can sit here nicely so the BLACK chairs will work just wonderfully here when we have a couple more for a very casual meal....or cards....or checkers....or DESSERT..
It's been a couple of years that I painted these TWO chairs...
two more, sat in their brown dress for 2 years, just waiting in the wings..
well, TODAY, .7/19/13
I finally painted them, too....
Now, it seems like I have two brand new chairs....:)
I am sooo bad....
I don't generally put things off like that...
I guess I just didn't really NEED the other two chairs so they sat in storage all this time.
I decided we might NEED those other two chairs in the Summer House,
so I got that job finished today...and am feeling pretty good about it all.
I just LOVE checking things off my "GET 'ER DONE" list....

Oh BJ your "new now" chairs look AWESOME! I love the checkered cushion and how it matches what's on your mantle.
ReplyDeleteAs for apples/French toast....it's my husband's favorite breakfast-in-bed-for-me standard. I had never had it before he started making it for me and it is definately a sinfully delish awesome way to start the day!
So I def with you on that one, ma'am!
Have a truly fabulous day!! Hugs.
Those chairs turned out great and I LOVE the toile pillows!
ReplyDeleteOh BJ your chairs look beautiful with your toile... Love them.
ReplyDeleteYes, I love Apple anything. I love my apples made that way.
I always get the apples when we go out for breakfast at Cracker Barrel.
Your float looks yummy too. :)
I'm holding good thoughts for your home to sell. It is charming...hopefully it will sell soon..
Have a good evening BJ. Keep an eye on your mailbox. :) Blessings, Becky
The chairs are gorgeous, BJ! I'm glad you beat the storm! I never heard about the cooked apples...definitely going to make them! YUM!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
HI BJness! Oh, I love your new paint job chairs. You did a super job too! I know it's a lot of work keeping your house ship shape constantly, but I thought your lovely home stayed most perfect all of the time. I love fried apples and haven't made any in so long.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Your chairs look great. I really like black chairs- they are like white ones (only different!;>) They go with anything! Those apples over that french toast look amazing...and delicious. Hope your house sells soon. I think you need to bury a St. Joseph little statue in your yard- they say that's the trick! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteOh man can I relate with the whole process of keeping the house up for selling. But, it all paid off and we are under contract. All of the showings stated how beautiful and clean ours was compared to the others. Thank goodness for Blogland and help with staging ;-) And yes,the St. Joseph statue we buried next to the for sale sign and praying to him daily seemed to have worked for us! Fried apples sound divine right now! And your paint job on the chairs is perfect! Good luck! I'm sending positive vibes your way :-)
ReplyDeleteHoney, do I FEEL YOUR PAIN!!!!!!!!!!! Our house STILL isn't sold so every time we have a showing, Joe and I run over there, blow the driveway and decks, vacuum, dust, turn ALL the lights on, etc., etc. It is TOTALLY getting on our nerves too. Now, I love, LOVE your black chairs!!!! They are SO you!!! Now they have a new life! XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteThey look terrific! I really like some black to anchor a room. Still no people? Golly. What's wrong with'em? Perhaps it should be advertised as the incomparable BJ and Mr. Sweet's home of Sweet Nothings fame. That might do it!
ReplyDeleteHi BJ, I like the apples on waffles, pancakes, or just eat them. My mom would make baked apples that were awesome. I love your black chairs with your black and white table. I will keep saying a prayer that your house sells soon. Have a great day. Hope it is cool ours is hot and humid. Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend.
ReplyDeleteI just love those black chairs and I didn't think I would because I am a wood lover.
ReplyDeleteThanks to you, I now love black and white with red combination. Love being open to new things.
I hope your house sells soon, I was sure it would have sold by now. It is waiting for just the right people that will love her like you do.

ReplyDeleteOh Bj ... you make every post so much fun to read and end up making me hungry. Love the black chair with the bunny pillow. The apples look so good too.
ReplyDeleteThinking good luck with the house lookers/buyers !!!
Hugs,
Audrey Z. @ Timeless Treasures
Oh, I do hope you get a buyer soon!! I can't imagine why they wouldn't want to live there. Everything looks wonderful, I love the chairs. And the black and white check cushions!
ReplyDeleteOh, beautiful job on the chairs, bj! I love that you and Mr. Sweet sit on red chairs. The apples look so scrumptious and I can almost taste them on that French toast...yum!
ReplyDeleteI love the chairs! You did such a great painting job on them. All of your black and white check throughout your pretty decorating has inspired me to start adding a bit to my own home. It will take me a while to collect my black and white. I just hope mine comes together as nicely as yours looks now!

Of course I'm smiling at the thought of those black chairs sitting around that black / white check table. Sorry you are having to play the waiting game with your house. I know it is frustrating when you want to move forward and settle in to the new house.
ReplyDeleteI really do hate the real estate waiting game. I remember when our first house was on the market at the same time that a good friend was trying to sell hers. We had our little daughters together for a play date, and we discovered that they were playing, "Show the house." Apparently, it was a form of "house" where you have to frantically tidy up because someone is coming for a lookie. True story.
ReplyDeleteWe felt like heels.
As for your chairs, I give them two thumbs up. I can actually procrastinate stuff even longer if I have a mind to.
Your chairs turned out great BJ! I love the pretty black, they are perfect with your table-enjoy:@)
ReplyDeleteI love all your black and white things. That's a color scheme I have never tried but I find that I love it. And, those apples look yummy.
ReplyDeleteI love painted chairs, no two ways about it. I actually need to give couple of mine a quick extra coat some time since I did them last fall and then after the weather got cold realized I had a few thin spots on them.
ReplyDeleteIs there any reason not to just move into the summer house and let the realtors show your house empty? Seems like I have heard that showing a home that way makes it look more spacious, or do they think it shows better lived in?
BJ,
ReplyDeleteLove the "Get 'Er Done" List!!!
The chairs look fabulous painted black! Amazing how a coat of paint refreshes and gives new life to oak!!!
Fondly,
Pat
The black color really compliments these chairs! Great job! We sold our big house in NC last year. When we started....we kept the house clean and neat, then we completely moved out of it. Sometimes buyers like to see an empty house and imagine their things in it. The house looks bigger and the buyers also realize they can quickly move in...it's ready to occupy. It's a hard decision, I know. And our house didn't sell fast either way. I'm feeling your pain! Sweet hugs!
ReplyDeleteThe chairs look amazing. And, I don't have to tell you that you have made me hungry again, do I?
ReplyDeleteLove those chairs, BJ! Good luck selling your house-I wouldn't want the stress of keeping our house viewing-ready, I know that for sure. Your dessert looks delish!
ReplyDeleteLove your newly painted chairs BJ. And your black and white checked placemats and polka dot cups!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the chairs. The dessert looks so good. Hope You get some lookers soon and sell your house. Have a blessed day. Madeline
ReplyDeleteWhat a great tribute to that fallen firefighter. May he rest in peace.
ReplyDeleteThose chairs looked old and outdated but you my dear have transformed them into a new and modern chair and look fantastic. Love how they turned out and by adding the pillows makes them look comfy. You make it sound so easy. I will have to give it a try on my two old folding chairs.
It is amazing what a little tender care and paint can do. The chairs really look nice and fit in with your color schemes so good. I am sorry houses are not selling as well there as here. Te market is good here. I know you are anxious to move. but an empty house never sells as good as one being lived in. Just sit back, relax and enjoy all you treats. Maybe a looker will smell the cooking and come looking.
ReplyDeleteThose chairs have gone from drab to fab! The pillows are the perfect touch. With my love of black and white, toile and bunny pics, I'm in sensory overload!
ReplyDeleteYou have me totally inspired, BJ! So many fun things in your life. Hope you get some lookers soon! I've been there and it aint fun!
ReplyDeleteLove how the chairs turned out, and that French toast - oo la la! Stay cool, Beej, the right people will show up soon to buy your beautiful home. xo
ReplyDeleteThe chairs turned out great. I'm so sorry that your home is not selling.
ReplyDeleteMaybe things will pick up as school will be starting soon and people need to move before school starts.
I love those apples - they are soooo good.
Have a great week.
Mary
Loved this post and those beautiful chairs. It all looks so elegant...also love cooked apples. I core big old Granny Smith apples and leave the bottom in, stuff the innards with brown sugar, cut a hard pat of butter in half and push it in the top to hold the sugar in, bake with Kielbasa sausage for an hour and everyone is in heaven!!! Did I see fried pies there? Another favorite!

Ugh! to the cleaning & waiting for people to view your home. you have my sympathies. :)
ReplyDeletechairs look lovely.
The difference in the chair from the oak to the black is fantastic! Just stunning! The black and white cushion makes it perfect!I am going to try your apple cinnamon on toast. What kind of bread did you use..and did you slice it yourself?
ReplyDeleteEvery time you write about selling your home..waiting..keeping everything perfect..it brings back bad memories.. I am hoping that it will be over for you SOON. Ours sold twice and twice I remember, they didn't qualify and dropped out. I hope your buyers are pre qualified!! It's such a difficult thing you are going through, that awful waiting and hoping..
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking positive for you, so here's hoping and praying something happens soon!!!
Those chairs...oh my goodness, those chairs. I think I'm in love. Now I must find a good chair at the thrift store so I can have one in here where the computer is...and paint it black satin!!! Beautiful work.
ReplyDeleteAnd bring on those fried apples!!!!!!!!!!
BJ, this has GOT to be one of the prettiest make-overs I have ever seen! The chair looks magnificent! So, so pretty with all your darling black & white accents. BRAVO!!!
ReplyDeleteI am kicking myself for selling my beautifully carved oak chairs when we moved to FL. See...this is why I've stopped getting rid of stuff. Years later, I wish I still had it.
I can't tell you how many times I've gone looking for something & then realized I pitched it years ago. Phooey!
Hugs,
Rett
BJ, it looks like your summer has been like mine--busy & waiting! Waiting on others to move forward isn't easy. I like to check things off my list too when they're completed.
ReplyDeleteHope everything else is well.
Mmm...fried cinnamon apples, my mom made them often and I do once in a while too. We just have them as a side dish with pork, yummy. I never thought of having them on French Toast!
ReplyDeleteThe chairs look great. I am so sorry your house isn't getting enough traffic. It is so hard to keep things "perfect" all the time. Sending good thoughts.
Oh my goodness! I love the chairs, the pillows, and the table! And those apples look AMAZING. Mouth watering. I must make.
ReplyDeleteYour chairs look great, and I love that black and white table. It would look cute in our home! ;P
ReplyDeleteIce cream floats with peanut butter crackers? You are a genius, my friend. That sounds like the perfect summertime-I-need-energy snack!
Thanks so much for linking-up to My Happy List. I had such wonderful participation this week....it has made me very happy in the midst of a stressful and upsetting week.
xo,
Ricki Jill
I'm catching up - always catching up! Your 'new' chairs are wonderful! They are the perfect addition to your cute, little table. Be patient, my friend. One of these days the right buyer will come along and things will move fast.
