Bits and Bobs

Hello, ya'll....

I love doing my BITS and BOBS 'cause I can cover a lot of territory in one post. :>)
and do a really random post.

 Not much going on here....
we've had 4 realtors show the house to one couple each
in 6 weeks.
Somehow, I thought there would have been more people looking for a house....
I mean, I was all ready to bake DOZENS of cookies, buy tons of grapes
and 40 cases of bottled water for all the traffic coming thru.....
SOMEthing must have gone wrong....cause.....IT AIN'T HAPPENIN'  !!
bummer....
well, maybe NEXT week.

 I've always loved these little
SUGAR CREME WAFERS...
in fact, I grew  up on them because my mother loved them, too...
and we always had them around.

The little cheery, colorful cookies sure make for a great photo, too....
like they are smilin' at us...:))

 THESE, however,

are SUGAR FREE.

They are really tasty, too.

'Course the trouble is....
SUGAR free doesn't mean CALORIE free.
SHOOT FIRE !!

4 little wafers have  150 calories....
which is better than having a SNICKERS bar with those billion calories, I guess.
My new COUNTRY LIVING magazine came this morning and I am excited.
I LOVE this magazine....

...my favorite magazine in the whole world...
it is comfy, a little bit country, a lot "with it" and great ideas, awesome recipes.....
and beautiful photos...

AND...

don'tchaknow that I fell
HEAD OVER HEELS IN LOVE
with this magnificent bed on the magazine cover.

$1,298.00
for a queen size....
gulp

....holy cow !!
I'm trying to figure out HOW to come up with $1,300 cause I sure would
LUV to move THIS bed into my new bedroom over at THE SUMMER HOUSE.

Let's see ....
I could MAYbe sell my bedroom suite on Craig's List for ....
hmmm....
MAYbe $500.00
(never you mind that it cost $2,000 six yrs ago)
leaving me to come up with another $800 PLUS shipping.

Nawh....I could never pay that much money for a BED...
'sides....I like the one I have.

But, I DO think this bed is what dreams are made of....
love it to pieces.

YEP....

...cookies, coffee and a brand new magazine.

you may have guessed by now that I spent the better part of a solid hour
devouring this magazine....
had 2 cups of Dunkin Donuts coffee....
O....
and MAYbe a cookie or two.

My last bit of RANDOM....

My latest thrift find...
A BRAND NEW WALL LAMP
and I am IN LUV....!!

I love the shape of the adorable shades that have never had the plastic wrapping taken off....
woo hoo

I think someone bought it....then decided on something else....had lost her receipt
and into the pile being taken to THE THRIFT SHOP.....

I'm not sure just WHERE it will go in the SUMMER HOUSE...
I just know it's gonna look pretty cool there !!

OOO....$10 bucks....
I did the happy dance when I got to the check-out counter and found,  due to the fact that I am OLDEN,
it would be 20% less.

I hope ya'll have a good BITS and BOBS kind of day.
LOVE,
bj

Ever so often, I get a comment that just tickles me to death and I HAVE to add it to my post...

AshTreeCottage has left a new comment on your post "Bits and Bobs":

Your "bits and bobs" are so entertaining. I have not had those wafer cookies for eons. Of course now I want one, but it's getting a bit late to run out to the store lol. But I do have that Country Living issue. It's always so comforting to have the latest issue of a favorite mag. Now about that lighting fixture ~ oh my I heart it big time! And I am sprinkling real estate fairy dust on your house right now. Expect a buyer soon!

Big Hugs,
Susan and Bentley

"Thanks for the Real Estate Fairy Dust, Susan and Bentley....
I think my black roof is GLITTERY now....:))

As nice as your house is, BJ, I'm just so surprised it is not sold yet. Real estate is a funny thing...someone you may think would never be interested in it will just be the one who buys it! Sure hope it sells soon for you, I know you're anxious to get settled in the Summer House ... and I for one can't wait to see how you decorate it! I'm sure it will be awesome! Do you plan on using your trademark black and white checks with that gorgeous red? Love that look! Suzy from PA

BJ!

Love your bits, etc!

Random is kinda fun, isn't it?

LOVE your thrifty new wall lamp - that's awesome!

So you have a cottage too? Lucky ducky!

sorry you didn't get a good turn out - but c ould be peeps are just too hot to get out. I know I am much more holed up inside than I am normally - got out and find myself saying "nope, too hot" then coming back in. Sad. That's normally 5 months of winter - if we don't have good summer spring or fall, God save us, we'll never get fresh air here in mid Ohio!

BTW- Country Living Fair is hosted in September here - you have a warm invitation to stay here if you wanna come to it - definately an incredible flea fair, as you can well imagine.

Olden is golden...

You always have a sunny post full of cheer even when things are not going tickety-boo. I can't believe that you don't have a steady stream of traffic through your home. Revving up the prayers...

The good thing with magazines and me lately is that, after just a few days, I forget that I ever read it and can enjoy it all over again.

DEAR SUSAN K.....
I have no way to answer your question as there is a NO REPLY in your email address. So sorry.

I will always use my black and white checks...they make EVERYthing pop...but will limit my reds as most of the walls in the Summer House are Terra Cotta....:)
Thanks so much for your comment.

I used to love sugar wafers and am so glad to see that they have sugar free ones which I will have to keep a lookout for. Love the lamp. Hope you have a blessed evening. Madeline

Hi BJ! I can't believe someone hasn't snatched up your lovely home! Maybe it's to hot for folks to be buying a house. They'd have to move in the heat! Who knows. Well, I love those little creamy wafers too! Yummy, and you've made them look so pretty. That bed! Too much money though it is lovely.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

That is a pretty bed! I'm liking the creme cookies though. Haven't had one of those since I was a child. They sure do look cute in their pastel colors.

Terra said...

Oh, I don't know, you might NEED you that bed :). The cookies do look cute in the photo, now I want some of those. Yum.

Oh no! I'm sorry so few have come to look. It's a fairly hot market in a lot of areas but, sadly, not all of them.

Has your real estate agent listed it in places other than MLS - such as Trulia, Realbird, Zillow, etc.?

Also, you might want to write a few posts here all about your house - telling all about its great points, interesting points about the surrounding area, etc. - then add your real estate agent's name, company, and contact information on each post. It might be another good way to "share the news."

Hoping things heat up soon in your area and it sells soon. :)

I love your bits and bobs posts, bj. They are just fun! I am sorry that real estate is so slow there. It is slow here still. I don't get Coutnry Living anymore- I cut down to just two magazines and HAD to keep Romantic Homes and Southern Living.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend- xo Diana

I do remember those cookies..the crunch and the creme filling! Oh, my! And your new wall lamps are going to look fabulous in your new home! Keep the faith...your home is going to just knock the socks off the right person.

I DO love Country Living...I get a little irritated with the ads, especially the prescription drugs that take up two pages. I never hear anyone mention Redbook, Ladies Home Journal or Real Simple. I get SO much info from these magazines!

XO,
Jane

That bed is dreamy. Those little wafers are delicious. I haven't had any in years. Country Living has been around for a long time. Somewhere here in my house I have the first issue of it. I only buy one once in a while these days. I must admit there are some advantages to magazines. They are fun to linger over.

That is a cute wall lamp. I enjoyed your post about bits and bobs. Most times, it seems to me, life is made up of a whole lot of bits and bobs all strung together.

I hope things pick up with the sale of your home.

Oh those sweet little wafer cookies are a favorite here too! I need to buy some! Yum! Best wishes with the house sale! Did you try to bury that St. Joseph statue in the yard?

I love a post like this - full of the little bits and pieces that make life interesting. Who knew that you, such a baker, would love those little waffle cookies - I do too!

Oh I hope you get more potential buyers coming through soon!

I just nodded my head at the comment about the calories. I fall prey to that false assumption too often than I should admit. My stomach lies to my head on a regular basis, I'm ashamed to say.

I love the bed and thought it was iron at first. I love iron things. Speaking of which, LOVE the light and am envious that you found something like that at a thrift store!

If you every find them, try the Vootman coconut wafers. They are to die for. Our local Kroger's had them for a while, now I can't find them. If I had known this I would have bought a case of them LOL. The mocha flavored is good also. Have a great weekend.

Sure enjoyed your "B&B's" this morning. The wall lamp will look great in your new home.
Have a great week-end. Maybe the nice rain you had with bring out the house lookers and buyer.

I always loved those sugar wafers - I couldn't resist them. Sorry that your home hasn't sold yet, but it will!

Any piece of furniture from Anthropologie is going to cost a pretty penny!

Thanks so much for joining in this week.

Happy Pink Saturday, my sweet friend. I'll bit and bob with you any day of the week.

My mother used to love those wafers, too. She has a sweet tooth.

I am hoping you get a good buyer very soon. I know you must be tiring of being on hold.

The bed is lovely..but I sure as heck would catch something on one of those sharp curley cues and rip it. Otherwise it's ....wow! EXPENSIVE!
