...and our flag was still there

Hi, Everybody.... WOW...what a great 4th of July.

Our weather was great....
O...
a little wind but wind blows here on the Plains of West Texas..
and it was a small wind....

HOT DOGS...

on the grill.....

are one of
LIFE'S LITTLE PLEASURES !

 ...and  FRITOS....
they "do it" for me even more than FRENCH FRIES.

UH HU...I like it ...I like it...

The 4th is so much more about other things
than what we eat.
We ALL know that.

I am sitting here watching
Megan Kelly on Fox New,
trying to raise money for SMART HOMES
for as many severely injured victims of the war as possible....

and I'm bawling.

O, how much these veterans have given for our freedom.

Some return home without arms, legs....sometimes both...like TRAVIS MILLS.

These men and women need special homes to be able to function...even at half-mast.

CLICK BELOW to read about these much needed homes...

the program

All of our warriors encounter difficulties when they return to civilian life, but these heroes face unimaginable life changes. Help us honor their incredible service to our country with a new Smart Home, customized to ease the day-to-day challenges they now face. Features like retractable cooktops, cabinets and shelving, automated lighting, heating, air-conditioning and window treatments controlled by an iPad, as well as elevators, roll-in bathrooms, front-load washers and dryers, intercom systems and automated doors can help restore their independence in countless ways.

 BUILDING FOR AMERICA'S BRAVEST
is a place for
DONATING MONEY for this cause.
$5...$10...$15....any amount will be appreciated.

Instead of stopping over at the THRIFT store today and dropping $25 or $30 ...
I'm donating it to help build these homes for our brave men and women.

Can you imagine how much money can be raised for this cause if
everyone would send any money at all...?...just FIVE DOLLARS....

It would be sooo awesome....so meaningful....so such a blessing...
not only to the person receiving the SMART HOME...
but for each person that donates.

below....
shadowy  photos of our beautiful flag...
No one has asked me to do this post....
It comes STRAIGHT FROM MY HEART.

Love to all,
bj
SHADOW SHOT SUNDAY
*I think most of the friday parties are taking a break...
I'll try 'em again next week.....bj

We both were equally as moved emotionally & heart-love by Megan Kelly's FOX NEWS special with the our wounded warriors. Such love for each of them ... we all need to support this cause, w/every single penny we can spare. The government sure isn't lifting a finger to support them.

Our daughter's Harley motorcycle friends group just bought 2 of those outdoors wheel chairs for the veterans.

TY for sharing this to remind others if they missed it ...

Glad you had a great 4th.

God bless that family. Oh my, that Fox News show by Megan K. was amazing and I wish the government did something more consistance to help soldiers that fought for the freedom of the USA, considering they even volunteer to fight for the country! Thanks to you dear BJ. Enjoy your patriotic weekend.

Wonderful post, and I love the part about Travis. I've been following him on FOX, and he just rocks my socks.

Men and women like this remind me that there is still a reason to be proud of my country.

A beautiful post. The Smart Homes program sounds like it is such a benefit for veterans. There are so many things that I do without thinking--walking, moving around the house, opening a cabinet door--that I take for granted but others cannot do easily. Homes like this would really be helpful. Thank you for sharing about this program.

I found you via Beth at E Lizard Breath Speaks. She said we should check you out, and so glad I did! I'm a new follower and look forward to reading your posts!

Fritos are the best with hotdogs!

I just showed Trip your post, and we're going to go online and donate when we go home to Birmingham. Such a sweet post, BJ. Thank-you.

I saw a few of these brave soldiers with Megyn Kelly yesterday on Fox News.

Oh BJ, what a beautiful post! I will be sending some money for this cause and I appreciate you telling us about it. I don't have cable so I don't get FOX news and have never heard of this charity, but I support it wholeheartedly!

What a wonderful promotion here for a special cause, bj. And, you know the thing is, just think of those that lost limbs and life and didn't come home. It is just unbearable, isn't it?

Glad you had a great 4th-we did, too- xo Diana

Sounds like a happy fourth. We've been having beastly heat but no rain. I wish it would rain to cool things off a bit.

Very well written post! We do have so much to be thankful for. And that flag should always be treated with respect. As a photographer I am asked to do things with the flag on a regular basis, and I refuse - and try to educate the client as to why. No - you can't lay a baby on an American Flag.... no, I won't allow you to wrap it around him. Etc. Yet - so many people don't even know flag etiquette anymore.
