AN AWESOME RAIN and some Good Lookin' Foods.....

Hello, ya'll...

We had the most magnificent rain on 6/17 that we had to
MAKE our silly selves not get out in it
and DANCE !!

We needed it sooo bad and was so happy to get it...

That's a little POOL of  RAIN WATER  in my violets
*clap clap

We had 1 1/2" in our rain gauge....

We stood on the porch for awhile and then I ran inside,
popped some ORVILLE REDENBACKER
and we sat in the porch swing  eating it and watching it rain
and hoping the lightening didn't strike us....

************************************************************
....more good lookin' food...

I just bought the most
BEAUTIFUL..

DELICIOUS...

CRISP...

S.W.E.E.T.

grapes I've ever seen.

Aren't they just luscious !!

and, for some reason,
very reasonable in  price right now....

love it !

I sure was glad I had a couple cans of WHITE CHICKEN....
and I made CHICKEN SALAD sooo fast. :))

Now, these pecans MAY not be a new item at the grocery store...
but, I have just discovered them...

O HONEY

They are so awesome.
Just about 3  of these glazed pecans sure tame my sweet tooth.
I love pecans in Ck. Salad but ......

I didn't put them in this salad, tho....too sweet, I think.

The words I LUV to hear...
"NO BAKE  "

NO BAKE CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER BARS

I borrowed the recipe from
our sweet blogging friend, KARIANN over at THISTLEWOOD FARMS....

Aren't they GOOD LOOKIN' ...!?

ok, ok...
now THIS photo is
HER'S...

Yes, I know....
she can sooo outdo me on EVERYthing
she does...
better writing
better picture taking
better sense of humor
she wears brighter lipstick
she can run faster..

but, by golly, since I followed her recipe TO A TEE....

I am PRETTY SURE
mine TASTED the very same as hers....

ok...
I can see that HER layers are more precise than mine...
that SOME of my crust was waay too thick...

but then again...
that's
ONE FINE TASTIN' CRUST so nobody seemed to care that mine might be a little thick.
AND I used HER cute trick of the little papers beneath each bar (for the photo shoot...:)
tryin' HARD to make mine spectacular....
just like HERS....:)

Well....ANYway...you are gonna LOVE these bars...
and to keep you from stressing out,
you can make 'em look like MINE instead of HERS...
that'll take a little pressure off ya....

They are SO FAR OVER THE TOP that I can't even find WORDS.
i mean...we're talkin'
PEANUT BUTTER
RICE KRISPIES
FRENCH VANILLA PUDDING
POWDERED SUGAR.....
BUTTER....BUTTER...and more BUTTER
C.H.O.C.O.L.A.T.E.

O yes, baby

you'll have to GO TO HER SITE for the recipe and,
I might add,
MUCH BETTER photos of these little gems.
I can't decide if she has a BIGGER, BETTER camera than I....
or
it COULD be that she is a MUCHO better photographer than moi.

Well, regardless....
when you leave her a comment, would you add that "bj says hey"...?

Yep, you gonna have to MAKE 'em to know how awesome these are...
SOOO SWEET..
SOOO RICH....
and. FOLKS..........
NO BAKE...!!

One little tip from the Kitchen of Sweet Nothings...

Measure out ALL ingredients BEFORE you start....
this will make things move along faster and it does
take a little while to put this
CREATION OF DELICIOUSNESS
all together.

but please put my name in.
I would dance down the street in my nightgown if we could have rain like that here in So CA.
OMG the bars look great - where is the recipe? Chicken salad look yummy.
That would be nice on a hot day like today.
    So glad you got rain.....
    Have a terrific week.

  2. Oh I remember seeing those at Thistlewood. They looked great. Seriously.

Love the joy you have over the rain! Maybe I'll go to the window and grin.

  5. I'm so jealous of that rain - it is SO dry here, that we are burning up - we really are -- more fires, but nothing close at the moment. Thankfully!! Those bars look so good; just might have to try them. Sally

  6. So glad you had a great rain BJ, I know you need it! We're actually in the middle of an intense down pour here as I write. All of your munchies look great-enjoy:@)

  7. We've had a lot of rain this year, but I will NOT complain about a single drop. After all those years of drought, every drip drop is music to my ears.

I've had fun catching up here tonight. I'll be pinning this for future reference, and I loved that post below about loving the old fashioned stuff. ME TOO. I have two wooden drying racks that I like to use. Our neighborhood doesn't allow clotheslines. Hrmph....

And I voted in your poll. Just in case you give a hoot how I feel, I voted with the majority. I'm frankly disgusted by the way she is being treated.

It is really going to hurt a lot of people, too.

  14. Wow! That was a drencher, how wonderful for you:>) We have had a very wet spring and if I had a covered porch with a swing I would be out there with a bucket of popcorn enjoying the sound and smell of the rain too. I'm so glad you got it after such a long dry season.

  15. BJ, I do believe KariAnne would share her crown with you, and you are a queen.

I know you were loving that rain. We got a wonderful rain last night, and we sat in our sunroom to enjoy the sounds.

  16. You would have LOVED Ohio's weather this past week...rain, rain, rain! I'm grateful that I don't have to spend money watering the lawn, flowers & tomato plants.

I always love to see what you're cooking, BJ. With my DH being diabetic, I don't get to make all the wonderful goodies that you create but I can enjoy them in my mind.
You chicken salads always entice me. I will have to look for those pecans.

  27. Yours or hers, I'm a eatin it! lol! They truly do look scrumptious. I think you did just dandy. I just made chicken salad with grapes, pecans(not glazed) celery, a little granny smith apple and it was pretty darn tasty. I do love glazed pecans or almonds in my salads. So happy you got rain. Wish we could get some! Record hot here, 103 today. We are on water restrictions and my gardens are begging for some rain. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
    hugs,
    Jann
