Hi, Everyone...
I am sure this is going to be a fine day for ALL of us....
I have a lot to do today....just as I did YESTERDAY...
So, I've reached back in my POST ARCHIVES for a post about
the BURLAP RUNNER I was blessed to win a few years ago.
Isn't it a beauty !!!
**
I won this delightful runner from JENNIFER at THE OLD PAINTED COTTAGE....
but LAURIE from BELLA INSPIRATIONS is the talented lady that made the runner.
**
Now, I just absolutely LOVE olden crocks...
well, they don't even HAVE to be olden...
A pretty crock will make me grin every single time !!
I think they look EXTRA good on my new BURLAP RUNNER...*BIG grin..being proud !
My good friend, AUDREY that owns the beautiful blog, TIMELESS TREASURES, also loves
CROCKS....and she has a wonderful collection.
When you go by to see her, would you kindly tell her bj said HEY ...?

I've had this stoneware pitcher so long, I can't even remember where I got it.
I've used it for iced tea, milk and lemonade...
but mostly, it sits on a dining room shelf....
JUST LOOKIN' GOOD !!

**
I've also had this bad boy for a number of years.
One of my favorites...
I wish I had another....ONE is NEVER enuf for me...greed, ya know!
**
My sweet AUNT LILLIAN gave me this olden pickling crock in 1960....
*
SHE said it was pretty old... I said it was PRETTY !!
Aunt Lillian also gave me the two black pitchers....
*
I sure would rather have my sweet AUNT LILLIAN than all the treasures she gave me. :(
She was so sweet to me...she didn't have children
and my mom wrote in my baby book that she was "afraid Lillian is going to steal my baby girl."
:>)
Aunt Lillian had a fatal heart attack when she was 59 yrs old and we were all STUNNED.
This was many years ago and I am STILL stunned.
I'm constantly searching for more BUTTERMILK GOBLETS...
They must really have become SCARCE because I seldom find one..
I only have 3 and I need at least 3 more....so...I'll keep searching.
Mr. Sweet made us a delicious garden salad with sliced STRAWBERRIES...a favorite..
*
Left over Easter ham, grilled with pineapple...
and our
BUTTERMILK GOBLETS
filled with
SWEET TEA...

I missed this post the first time around, I'm so glad you shared once again. Love the shot of the spoons on the beautiful burlap runner.
ReplyDeletefondly ~lynne~
I also missed this post. I love burlap runners, especially with a ruffle. Nice with stoneware.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful rerun! You do such a great job with the photographs. You know you always say that you are NOT a crafter but you are...you use beautiful things to craft vignettes that are just wonderful. Loving your runner. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteAnd that was the day that I decided I had to have a burlap runner, too. It's still sitting in the sewing room waiting. And today I'm deciding that I need more crocks and some buttermilk goblets. Ha!
ReplyDeleteSo glad that you re-posted this as "I have never seen it. It is beautiful. You always do such great posts BJ.
ReplyDeleteMr. Sweet did a great job on lunch really looks good.
Happy Day....
Mary
bj, your pictures are wonderful, but I have to ask, 'buttermilk goblets'? I've never heard the term. Does it have some significance? Were they originally used for buttermilk, not tea or wine? Or possibly a teetotaler's term? They are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSo happy you reran this post! Missed it the first time around.
ReplyDeleteEverything is so lovely!
What a nice bit of family lore to know they're called "buttermilk goblets." Ours have always been known as "Mammaw glasses," for most of them WERE hers from the fifties, with just a little whisper of the gold rim left. The sandy-rough pattern on those is grape-and-vine, and the others I've accumulated along the way are a bit floral.
ReplyDeleteWith hers, there are a dozen now, so I KNOW they're out there. There was a matching pitcher, as well, but it fell victim to a hasty guest's "help" as she poured the hot tea directly into it over ice.
Doesn't tea just taste better in these goblets?

I just love the buttermilk goblets and I don't think I've heard that term before now. And I just decided, like Vee, that I needed some more crocks. I have a really large one, but not the smaller ones I could use on the table to hold flatware or flowers. Beautiful table setting!
ReplyDeleteOne can never have enough crocks BJ and yours are lovely. Love the runner too. Great photographs:)
ReplyDeleteBJ,
ReplyDeleteGorgeous tablescape!!!
I wold love someday in the future (or from your past archives) to see a table set with your blue & white dishes on the buffet and hutch in
the background!
Always enjoy hearing of how "treasures" are aquired and the stories behind them!!!
Thanks for sharing!!!
Fondly,
Pat
Everything looks good. You have quite a collection of crocks. The ham and pineapple slice looks so yummy. Have a blessed evening. Madeline
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to see this post, as I missed it the first rime. I love your burlap runner and oh my, those crocks are wonderful. Of course, the food looks fabulous and is making me hungry. Aren't those buttermilk goblets gorgeous?? I've never seen them any where. I can see why you want more. XO
ReplyDeleteawesome table running. so cool. love!! ( :
ReplyDeleteThose goblets are very pretty - I hope you find more of them!
ReplyDeleteDon't wear yourself out, BJ - the house will sell, you will get settled, and all will be as it should, soon!
Oh, I do love those bird votives. So sweet! The whole table is lovely.
ReplyDeleteThe goblets are beautiful. I hope you are able to find 3 more.
ReplyDeleteI have 4 or 5 of the buttermilk goblets and I have never heard that term. We drank ice tea (sweet, of course) out of the them. My grandmother gave them to me years ago and I really love them.
ReplyDeleteI think I need to make myself a table runner like yours.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful crock collection,, BJ, and as usual, the food looks delish...Christine
ReplyDeleteI'm so very glad you decided to bring this post back, as I missed seeing it the first time around!

You have made some beautiful changes to your blog...LOVE the newest header. Did you get a new camera, too??? Your photos seem much brighter, too. Well done!!
