The UGLY side of moving...

With a house torn apart,
things packed here and there and
NOT ABOUT to go thrifting,
I am afraid I don't have anything interesting to blog about right now.

I hope you will bear with me awhile longer...
this move has really been a lot of work, sorting thru it all,
selling some, giving away some...

We will put our house on the market this week..YAY
and, once we get moved,
I will have some awesome things to blog about....
.....stay with me.

 Hi, Everyone...

Hope your weekend was a great one.

Mr. Sweet and I painted most of the weekend...

Several years ago, Mr. Sweet and I added on to our house
and the addition included a large UTILITY HALL across from his workshop.

We used it as a large pantry on one end
and on the other, cans of paint, bug spray, garden items...
that kind of stuff..

 ...a wonderful addition.
but a BAD photo...sorry!

Over the years, the shelves became marked and chipped...
and NOW...
ALL the shelves and walls are now pristine WHITE...
lookin' sooo good.

I have to tell you that, while I love the LOOK of this little wooden "diamond" trim
on these vintage windows,
they are THE PITS to keep clean...

and to paint them is sheer AWFUL !!
I painted them on the inside and Mr. Sweet did the OUTside....
Now..they are sparkly clean and....
I am so glad...so glad to mark off ONE MORE JOB on our long list.

I'm glad, too, that we took all our plantation blinds down,
H.O.T. water in the tub...
a LOT of  DISHWASHER  SOAP....
soaked awhile and they came out SHINY CLEAN.
Great tip from a blogger but, SO SORRY, I don't remember just WHO.
I am really glad to have these  clean...

So glad, in fact, that I decided to
MAKE BROWNIES...
Imagine that !

If you've not tried these....
YOU SHOULD !!

  1. 3 years ago I went through just what you are going through now when I sold my home and moved. I did all of the packing myself and had several garage sales and still had to downsize when I moved here.

  2. ugh....I feel your pain...and pain it is. I thought it would kill me...we were so sick of going to GW dropoff...but we still are finding things we realize we don't need. You will get it done....eventually!

  3. BJ what job, but soon the house will be sold and you can start decorating your new home and I am sure it will be stunning!

When I get ready to down size, I am letting my friends take what they want and I am getting big dumpster and it all goes.
Have a great week and you and Mr Sweet don't work to hard.
Had french toast yesterday and it was yummy.... Thanks.

  4. For a lady who does not have anything interesting to blog about, you sure write an interesting blog. Good that you took time to cook some brownies. Would not want you to deprive yourself of dessert. Gotta keep Mr. Sweet happy too. Glad you are getting the house on the market. Good luck for a fast sale.

  6. BJ, we have the same kind of window panes in our dining room. They are a pain to paint or even keep clean for that matter. But they are a charming look.
Looks like you and Mr. Sweet are making great progress. Good luck with selling the house. Bury a St. Anthony in the front yard. Just might help, can't hurt.

  7. I know exactly what you mean. When I was renovating my income property I was on the go all the time but there wasn't much to write about. You can paint for a week but you can't tell people about it for 7 days! You'll get there.

  8. Good luck with the sale of your house. When we downsized
I said I'd never move again. Of course, if we won a lottery...

  13. I didn't know you were moving! I have not been doing a whole lot of blogging---We downsized two years ago and we are very glad we did. I couldn't imagine doing it when I was any older than I am now; this is one reason we did it now....it is a lot of work!

  14. HI BJ! Oh, you're working your tiny head off! I know when you put your home on the market it'll sell quickly. It's just a darling place. Too bad we don't live near you, Mr. Precious became a Realtor after he retired! :)
Be a sweetie and thank you for the brownies!

  21. One day at a time has probably been your motto. Someone is going to be so blessed to purchase your home and arrive with things all fresh and waiting for them. Hope that you'll move this week so you have furniture and dishes! and I'm so gad that you can see light at the end of the tunnel!

  27. BJ,
Love your pristine white pantry, storage shelves!!! You have my deepest sympathies for having to paint those diamond trimmed windows, as does "Mr. Sweet". Oh, how I remember all too well washing those blinds in the tub!!! But, somehow...I knew there would be a "foodie" in this post somewhere!!! :) Now, once you get moved...it will be time for a swim!!! Relaxing around the pool!!!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  28. You will soon be SO glad you worked so hard to sell your home and move - but, in the meantime, it's no fun! I'm painting my office/creative studio this week. Can't wait for it to be DONE! Also can't wait to see you new home when you've moved in.

  31. You know what always kills me about the various moves we have made (5 towns & 1 apartment, 1 duplex, 1 rental house and 5 houses of our own)is that we always get those places just perfect as we are leaving! Why don't we do all those little fix up chores while we are living there and can enjoy them?

I'm glad you are making progress. I just can't wait to hear all about the new place.
