SPRING may have SPRUNG if......

you are craving all kinds of FRUIT...

We drink a LOT of water and I adore LIME in mine...
even more than LEMON.

....you begin to add lots of PECANS to everything you bake...
I had a few bags of pecans left in our freezer and was saving them
just for SUCH AS
toasted CINNAMON AND SUGAR biscuit halves...
with pecans sauteed in BUTTAH and BROWN SUGAH....

We have a large pecan tree in our front yard and it is usually
March or April when they get picked up from the ground and taken to the sheller.
We have a ton of pecans this year but they are twice as small as they should be...
due to the drought, no doubt.

I love pecans and fresh fruits together
ANYtime....
but especially during warmer days
and with SPRING here now,
our days will begin to get warmer and warmer...

Caramelized pecans,
sprinkled on top of a bowl of
ICE CREAM  .....
you can't get any better than that !!
O HONEY

...and when I saw this chubby little lady this morning,
I was MORE THAN SURE
Spring had Sprung !!

(i wonder if she might be going to have babies...)
They aren't the best photos as I just have a little point and shoot with very limited zoom ability...
but THE RED BREASTED LADY almost posed for me....getting a little closer all the time.
The photos were shot thru the glass door...I thought she would  fly away home if I  opened the door.
(ok, now I am just waiting for someone to tell me this is a MR. instead of a Miss...)
******
AND....of course, the minute we think of SPRING,

 we all start thinking,
"PLANT FLOWERS....'

I have no idea what these little yellow flowers are....

but I like them...and I hope they will do good,
planted in a pretty container....
to put on my little patio at the new house.

 FRUIT...
PECANS...
ROBINS...
FLOWERS....

What else could it be other than
SPRING...!!

  2. BJ sounds like your getting settled in your new home.
Love all the ways you use your pecans.
Your robin is so pretty. I love birds and have a lot of feeders around.
    Happy Spring.

  6. Yep, looks like Spring is springing up in most places! We have to be quick like bunnies and get things planted so they can acclimate before our Spring turns into Summer -- YIKES! Oh, my, your goodies looked good!

  7. It is looking like Spring at your house for sure, bj. Will you have pecan trees at your new house, too? I would love to have a pecan tree...they are my favorite nut---well, other than the one I live with that is. Hope you have a good night-once again you have left me craving something sweet! xo Diana

  9. I have been craving fruit and also spinach salad. After seeing your pics, I'm also craving ice cream and pecans. I love pecans.

I like to take the cinnamon rolls in the pop open roll and unroll them all in one big flat piece and place pecan pieces and raisins that I've plumped up with hot water and then blotted dry, and a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar. Then I roll the whole flat piece of cinnamon roll dough back up and cut it at the perforations in the dough and bake the rolls.

I'm going to get a package of those big caramel rolls that you showed a few posts back and add pecans to it that way and on top. That will be for Easter morning. In the meantime, I can only dream about pecans on ice cream.

I can't tell if you have a mama-to-be robin or a daddy robin who just had a good meal. It has been so cold here, all of the robins are puff-feathered and cranky looking, just like me.

  11. All the food photos look yummy. The robin photos were cute. Love the little yellow flowers. Looks like spring is there where you are. We have had a few nice days of spring here but today it is cold again. Have a blessed day. Madeline

  12. Sorry to burst your "Seeing-A-Robin-Means-Spring" balloon, but... I saw one here, ages ago.

And you know what my neck of the woods looks like, still. -grin-

  13. I am loving Spring ... but not the oak-bloom allergy I came down with yesterday. Redbud trees are beautiful this year. Have not seen the Robins that come in the Spring as yet, but they will come. Hummers are already here. Pecans are my favorite. We have three pecan trees, but the squirrels get all the pecans.
    Have a blessed day.

  14. BJ,
    Spring, indeed, dear friend!!!
Your Robin does appear to be posing for you!!! My camera makes an annoying sound when you push the button making it extremely difficult to photograph any wildlife.
After seeing all that yummy food...I do think I'll start lunch early here on the Prairie today!!!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  17. There you go making me want some again. I think I want the ice cream with pecans.

I can't find the canned caramel rolls. The store has cinnamon, but no caramel.

  22. My first visit here. I love pecans, especially when they are fresh from the tree. I never had tasted pecans while growing up in Paris, France. The first time I tasted them was in San Francisco from a co-worker who brought some back home at Christmas from Alabama. Your pictures are mouth watering.

  23. I think I could eat pecans (or walnuts) in pretty much anything, mix them with cinnamon, sugar and butter and I am happy, happy!

I'm thinking about spring quite a bit, but it doesn't seem to be thinking about us here in Illinois!

  24. I have spring on my brain all the time these days. I'm imagining my flower beds, cutting flowers, the feeling of hot sun on my bare head....can't wait!

  27. Oh bj, I thought spring was here, too, but yesterday we had snow falling nearly all day (too warm to lay) and last night it was in the mid 20s. I am so ready for warm weather and being able to get out in the yard.

  28. Oh it would be so nice to have my own pecan tree. I love them! It does look like spring at your house with the plants and pretty robin. If the robin isn't expecting, then it must have found a treasure trove of worms!!
    Have a delightful weekend!

  29. Spring (and summer) always make me want to drink more water too, and I love lime in mine as well. I love pecans and fruit together, and that's something I'll do year round. However, fruit just tastes even better the warmer it is outside, doesn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  30. And I forgot to mention Mrs. Bird. I do believe she does look like she's expecting. Just don't mention it to her, you know how touchy young chicks are about that these days.

  31. Hi BJ,
Your right, Spring has Sprung, although we are having the little Easter cold snap. I just love your post and like you have pecans left and need to use them up. Hope you are having a great weekend and thank you so much for sharing with Full Plate Thursday. Thank you so much for your support in the contest, you are awesome!

  32. Oh Bj, I love pecans! Have never carmelized them for ice cream. Will do for sure! I love fruit any time of the year, but the Spring and summer berries are so sweet. I have a super easy recipe for monkey bread in a bundt pan using pecans. MMMMMM, now I am hungry. How fun to have your very own tree! Thanks for sharing with Share Your Cup.
    hugs,
    Jann

  33. Your yellow flowers look like the ones on my daisy bush outside my bedroom window. Mine are blooming right now. We have had some very nice pretty days, but today was cool and windy and later it got cloudy. Not sure if rain is coming.

  34. We have one large pecan tree at the bottom of our backyard - fortunately, this year their big and sweet - dearest calls them 'the precious' (think Lord of the Rings) we have one bag left cracked that needs to be cleaned and bagged - they're wonderful treats - Can't think of what your flower is at the moment, what I thought it was -not right...I do appreciate you sharing with Home and Garden Thursday,
    Kathy
