Messes and I don't do well together...

Hi, Everyone..

My sweet bloggy friend, NANA DIANA, has shared with me some of the different things I need to do to help show our house to advantage during open house.

One of her hints....
"Clean your lights and even the light bulbs."

So,  down came my dining room chandy glass shades...
and all 4 shades got a good, relaxing bath in BUBBLES...
I asked them if they wanted a glass of wine while soaking and all 4 said "YES" !!
Now, all my glass shades are HAPPY....

Rinsed in the HOTTEST water so they would dry streak free.

Now, THIS might be one thing I may think about twice when we move.

I've always loved a CHUNKY type chandy...our new house has no chandies...AT ALL....Really high ceilings so I am thinking I may not even WANT a hanging light....

we'll  see....:)

Next on the list today was to clean out, REPAINT and straighten
our tiny little pantry.

Only 5 tiny shelves and I have been trying not to buy too many cans and etc.
so it will be easier when we have to pack it all for the move.
Such a tiny, little pantry.... but.....

Remember....we do have the shelves in the utility hall for a larger pantry.
and, THANK GOODNESS, it is empty and all painted, as I showed you yesterday.

Next on my "GET 'ER DONE" list was to
clean all the tile in one bath, REPAINT the cabinets...

Our humble, plain bath leaves a lot to be desired but I can tell you right now...
SHE IS CLEAN and SHINY.
WHEW....

By bedtime, I was needing more than a cup of SLEEPY TIME TEA...
I needed to RELAX
soooo,
I sat down and looked at my little cute pillow...
(WHAT?..you don't relax by looking at pillows...???)

Now, I hope NO ONE tells MR. SWEET that when I took ANOTHER  load to
GOODWILL,
I couldn't ignore this absolutely ADORABLE pillow...
I just fell in love with this little SPLIT PERSONALITY pillow...
cute, don't ya think?
Just turn it around and flip that little flap over and.....WALLA

and I had myself a
CUP OF WINE.

All my pretty wine glasses....packed and at the new house....

so it was a little vintage glass with a sail boat and a bird that held my night-time,
un-wind
and delicious
WILD VINES
BLACKBERRY
MERLOT.....

ahhhhhh........
it's the little things.

  2. That is a great tip! Sometimes, when I'm dining with guests, I look up and try not to think about it. LOL!

I know that whoever buys your little cottage is going to gain a lovely home. Clean and neat as a pin. You've been a loving homeowner for many years. Your cottage will tell the story for you!

  5. We tend to forget how dirty our light fixtures get. You're going to love your house too much to sell it by the time you are finished with all that work! lol

  6. There's such a sense of accomplishment when those big chores get done. I've been offline for a bit, so will have to go backwards to find out what you've been up to!

  7. I love spring cleaning, love seeing everything sparkle. We've moved a lot bj, so I know what you are going through to get your house ready to "show". Just think of it as spring cleaning, you would be doing that anyway! A wee bit more of the vine and you'll be ready for bed!

  8. Yes, we cleaned all the light shades and the bulbs at our house when we were selling it. It's a lot of work but makes a huge difference.

Oh my, all this sprucing up! You are wonderful. Your house must shine. Which is super wonderful, for selling.

Don't go and get yourself too "pooooped-out," with all this shining and sparkling, though. :-)

  18. Keeping things neat, tidy and orderly while you pack and clean is exhausting! I did it 1 1/2 yrs. ago and it took me forever to recoup! The place looks spiffy!!!...:)JP

  19. BJ,
Your wine bottle and glass remind me of the song,"Sail Away with me...". After all your lamp globes had "Calgon, Take me Away!" :)
Now, I don't think I've ever looked at pillows to relax, but crystal and silver will do it everytime!!! Sweet dreams, dear friend!!!
    Fondly,
    Pat

Love the wine glass...next thing I know you will be drinking bootleg whiskey out of a tin cup- I just have to watch you every minute! xo Diana

  28. If you wash your windows, a great way to make them sparkle is to use warm water with vinegar and wipe them down with newspaper. I do this on the outside of my windows and they look awesome when I get done. If you have a squeegie, it makes it go a lot faster. Love your place, hope it sells fast for you!

  32. Isn't it fun to move? Not. All that work and someone else gets to enjoy it. LOL. I know our buyers enjoy our ole place. We couldn't have asked for a better fit for our old home. Good luck on the sale of your home.
