Bunco Babes and Bits and Bobs

Hi, everyone...
Well, our first OPEN HOUSE was not very good... Not very good, AT ALL.
No traffic to speak of...
Our next one is EASTER WEEKEND....which is also not going to be very good.
Poor planning, I'm afraid.

The weather was fairly nice for most of the hours of the
Open House....

and, then the wind hit.

Our flag banner was "standing at attention" .

Here on the plains of West Texas, when the wind blows,

THE DUST BLOWS.

It was a TERRIBLE sandstorm and lasted most of the night.

***************************************************************************
In all that is happening in my world right now,
I forgot to post about our
MARCH BUNCO BABES
so I am doing that, right now...

I try to get photos of ALL our "girls" (I heard you giggle)
each month...
I've been declared "BABES PHOTOGRAPHER"
and I am NO GOOD at photographing PEOPLE.

ANYWAY.....
it's FUN.

There was a LOT of BLUE showing up at the game....
All those bright colored necklaces are what we get to wear for the day
when we get a Bunco.....
and the lucky lady that wins the most Buncos is declared our
BUNCO QUEEN for the month.

*****************************************************************************
...and now, for my SEMI HOMEMADE product...
BOY......if you've not tried THIS one,
and you like POTATO SOUP with CHEDDAR CHEESE,
you are going to LUV how fast this comes together...
and Mr. Sweet and I found the soup to be
DELICIOUS.

All you really need to make a great pot of hot soup from this mix is WATER....
8 CUPS OF WATER......

Not knowing just what to expect from this MIX,
I microwaved a couple of fresh, small potatoes
to add to our soup...
OOO,
and BUTTAH....
"ya hear me, PAULA DEEN.......BUTTAH !!"

The BEST semi-homemade soup I've ever eaten...
but, REMEMBER....
potato soup is my FAVORITE soup on the planet.

Have a GREAT bowl of soup in minutes...

add your favorite recipe of CORN BREAD....

a big slice of RED ONION.....
 ...also add BEAUTIFUL flowers...
an awesome CANDLE in your pretty tea cup....
(don't forget to add a tiny bit of water...and your candle won't stick to your cup...or any container.)

and you have a
MEAL TO REMEMBER
without a lot of effort.

These wonderful mixes are PRICELESS to have on hand in your pantry.
I have 2 more packs of THIS SOUP.   :))

XOXO bj

I hope your next open house draws a big crowd of prospective buyers.

Thanks for the inspiration for dinner. I'm having potato soup, thanks to your yummy looking pictures! I know you didn't get a lot of people through for your open house, but all you need is the RIGHT one viewing and you'll get it sold.

I wish I could find a bunco group, I don't think I know 12 gals to start my own! Soup sounds good, I love semi homemade meals. xo

BJ,
So~o~o sorry about the sand storm and your Open House, dear friend!!! Not sure I would have scheduled one on Easter Sunday, but then...people visiting inthe area may see your home and give it a "look~see"!!! I'll just keep praying for a Quick $ale!!!
Your soup looks delicious...and the cornbread makes this a divine meal, indeed!!!
Fondly,
Pat

Oh yum, potato soup and cornbread. Heaven. So sorry the bad weather came.

That recommendation sent me scurrying...alas, not available here yet. It just looks so good and it looks as if you made it even better. We may have to have potato soup for supper as we're needing some good old comfort food.

Oh dear. Now that sandstorm only means that the one who was supposed to buy the house wasn't available that day. =D

Your blog is changing up a little more every day. You're working on it. Love the cute headers you make up fresh every few days.

I am so sorry your open house didn't turn out well...maybe people will be looking for something to do Easter weekend? Hope so. You had a sand storm...if you have time, glance at my post and see what we had!

I've never seen that soup mix before. So many taste "fake" to me...so I will watch out for this one. Have a great day!

Good luck with the house project. It's no fun when the weather doesn't cooperate!

This is the hardest part of moving--keeping your home in pristine condition and allowing strangers to tromp through at a moment's notice. Hang on, BJ, and it'll get better.

I'm going to try to find that soup mix 'cause I do love thick, potato soup. Thanks for sharing.

Your bunco ladies are blue-tiful.

Happy Blue Monday!

I have tried that soup and we loved it TOO! Wonderful idea to add some extra potato goodness:) I sure hope that the next showing goes better! It was just a practice run! BIG HUGS coming your way!

Hi BJ sorry your open house didn't go well. Hope next one is better. We had a snow storm, so odd for this time of year. We thought we would get more but have about 5-7 inches. It is melting fast though. Blessings, Debbie

Your potato soup looks delicious. The meals you show us on your blog always give me ideas for what to fix for dinner.
Maybe someone will hear about your house from friends or neighbors or your blog, or maybe even just drive past and see that it is for sale. My daughter found their house as she and I were going out to lunch one day and drove past it and saw the sign. I agree with Vee. The one who is supposed to buy the house just hasn't found it yet. Hopefully, they are meant to find it soon.

Sorry that your first open house was not to successful. Hope the next one will be better. I have been across Texas many times and I know the wind can be bad but thank goodness we never were in a sand storm. The potato soup looks delicious. Thanks for the tip about the water in the cup so the candle will not stick. Have a blessed day. Madeline

Where did I read that when something wasn't well the guy's Mum did Soup... it was some novel, I'm sure... he said he knew his Mum had a bad day when he entered home and his Mum had made Soup... he also added that there was soup often at his home ahahahah. I loved it and laughed too because we all have something we put our hands to when times aren't going as we'd like.

Sorry about the Open House. Maybe it isn't the wrong time. Just not the right... Remember the book of 1 Kings 19 and wait and Trust.

Happy Easter. BJ!

The soup looks wonderful, BJ! I haven't had potato soup in the longest time and now I'm craving it.

Sorry your open house didn't go well, I'm sure your dust storm had a lot to do with it. I've never seen such a thing...I thought it was snow! After Easter I'm sure you will be swarmed, isn't spring the best time to buy?

Your bunco group looks fun, I could use some of that!

XO,
Jane

I love potato soup also. I haven't seen that brand here but I have seen Bear Creek and it is very good also.
Sorry about the weather not cooperating with your open house. Do you have a Real Estate person or doing it your self?
Good luck - hang in there it will get better.

Hope that your next open house goes well.. I so enjoy looking in my email to see when you have a new post. I bought two packages of the Shore Lunch soup mixes on sale for two dollars each.. and made the chicken noodle soup and the broccoli cheese.. Like you, at first was uncertain of how great the mix would be.. and added some broccoli to the cheese one.. and some chicken to the noodle mix.. Yummy.. Keep up the
good work.. Your blog is wonderful. Dawn in cold North
Dakota.

hi bj ... potato soup is always welcome at out house ... Mr. Z's favorite. We also love thin crusty cornbread. I will have to try that mix. Sorry the weather spoiled your Open House, but just the right person will come along, open house or not. I hated those dust storms when we lived in Abilene. Right now we are in the oak pollen and my allergies are running wild. Take care.

My neighbor, Stephanie, has a bunco group. I am an alternate there - when and IF I'm in town! Which I will BE soon!
Your potato soup sounds good and I'll try that mix. Potato soup is my all time favorite! As a matter of fact - I love potatoes at every meal!

So sorry your open house was not good for you. And Easter weekend? Well, they say that only really serious buyers look at houses on Holidays-so if you get one in rope them in and don't let them loose.
Your bunco group looks like a fun bunch of gals.
I love the sounds of that soup. I have never heard of the starter though- I don't think we have that here.
Have a great night, bj. xo Diana

BJ: As a former real estate broker, let me assure you that the very best advertisement for your house is the sign in the yard. In my years in real estate, I never sold a house at an open house. Most who came through were just enjoying an outing. Once your home goes in the multiple listing, all agents see it and, if they have clients looking in the area/size/price range, etc., they are on it!! It sounds as if you have a charming home and I'm sure it will sell quickly!! I well remember the dust storms of Lubbock!!

Best,
Bonnie

That soup looks delish, love it because it looks so easy and I love that...If you want to try an even easier soup...lol....Costco makes a lobster bisque that is to die for...it comes in two plastic containers that is freezable...one container is perfect for two people, nice lobster pieces in it...let me know what you think...love soup too

I love potato soup. I need to look out for that one.

I had wondered about the open house and am sorry to read that it was as you had predicted and too dusty and windy. You never know, Easter weekend might bring some visitors.

Your bunco babes look like a the kind of friends I would want to hang with. You will miss them when you move, won't you?

Here I sit at 6:30 a.m. wishing for a big bowl of potato soup - that's what you do BJ!!!
Too bad about the open house - the weather must certainly have had a lot to do with that.

Okay, I'm sold. I want to try that soup mix, so I hope it's available at my grocery store. If not, I'll be e-mailing you!

I wanna come eat at your house! That looks really good. We had that darn wind here too, but not the dust. I hope the weekend weather is better and you get some lookers. I hate the selling part of moving. Hopefully it will be over soon, so you don't have to worry about that. AT least you're settling in to the new house.

Hi BJness! You have so much fun and your friends all look so happy! I love potato soup and this looks delish! I saw your post on FB and I went to see the listing of your house but I couldn't find it! Waaa! I'll try it again later. Wishing you the very best.

Bummer about the open house. Maybe there will be some shoppers out Easter afternoon.

We love soup, too. In the last week, we have had Potato soup and New England Clam Chowder.

BJ, I always think you are a babe.

bj I saw your house ad on facebook --i was the first comment there--and I LOVE it! Just be patient --it will sell! We recently sold my house in Brooklyn, NY, and had quite a few open houses where no one came--and it was advertised by a big real estate firm. I was very disappointed but our realtor kept telling me that it "just takes one person" ...and low and behold an older couple that were forced out of their rental home by Hurricane Sandy were the ones that came by and loved my house and bought it! Just keep faith that someone will see your home and LOVE it!

make sure you spread the word best you can with flyer's posted at high traffic areas and put out balloons and loys pof big signs out front when you do an open house.

My daughter-in-law loves Bunco! i ahven't learned how to play as yet ...someday! :)

Looks like you all have a grand time playing Bunco. I think that is so nice that you have a large group of friends that get together. That is such a rare thing in our busy world today.

WAS that brand Shore Lunch??? I've not seen it but will try to find, soon as I know that's the correct name. Looks delicious. I don't mind making the homemade but it would be nice to have on hand for those days when you simply do not have time to cook.
I have a friend in West Texas near Garden City. Are you near there?
Well that's it for now. I'm hungry after checking your site so I have to find something. Cheese and crackers perhaps.
Blessings on the sale of your home. I sold ours a few years back in just a month or so. Good luck. Barb

Well, thank heavens somebody is still eating a red onion with hot cornbread and butter! I thought that went out with my Mom, an old Kentucky gal. I still dream of a big pot of beans, the old fashioned heart-clogging way, with real cornbread out of the castiron skillet. Slap on some butter, slice an onion, and it is heavenly. When I got cornbread at school, I asked Mom why it was so sweet, and she said, "That's not cornbread, that's cake!" She never added sugar

Just popped in to tell you I found this soup that you talked about...searched 3 different stores till I found it!
We'll be enjoying it for our lunch today, Good Friday, as it is a meatless day for us in Lent.

Thanks for the idea...can't wait to try it.

Hugs & Blessings,
