A Different Kind of Christmas Tree

Hello, sister friends,
Well, the time is drawing nearer and nearer....are you ready ?
This tree IS different....
It has a BOXY look and no BRANCHES....
HOWEVER.....
it IS green, you must admit....
Green and White Stripes
Great Christmas Colors....
I just ADORE my olden TREE TOPPER here. This is one of those CHRISTMAS MEMORIES.... I bought this Santa with the candle the first Christmas of our first GRANDSON, DREW, and for a couple years, he didn't want me to turn the CANDLE on because Santa's arm moved and it frightened him.
This Santa has been out now for 22 Christmases....
and I keep him on that same shelf as the WHITE SANTA.
One day, when my sweet, Golden Boy Drew marries, I will give this Santa to him
and his bride....
I know he will enjoy sharing it with his first child and, in case I have already been called HOME,
I am going to be
smiling SOOO hard from Heaven.
What ?.....What?.....you don't care for my UNUSUAL CHRISTMAS TREE ?

Well, just look.....

presents under the tree already....

presents under a
DIFFERENT KIND OF CHRISTMAS TREE....
THIS little tiny, blue wooden truck belongs to my daughter's youngest son,
 BROOKS.
Little Brooks...he did so love this little truck and played with it by the hours.
We kept it at our house so he could look forward to seeing and playing with it again.
Yep.... I  love this little truck even more than he did.
Well, maybe we love it for different reasons...:))
I can still see his little, tiny hand, clutching this little treasure
and carrying it everywhere. bwaaaaaaa
 Ahhh....the LITTLE BEAR
with his adorable plaid jumper...with one strap falling down his arm....
My sweet girl, STACY LEIGH, gave me this little bear over 20 years ago
and, I swear, sometimes I hear him talking to me...
especially when things aren't going all that great...
I can close my eyes and hear him say, "It's gonna be alright....."
and, you know,
I always feel better.

I love this Little Bear....
the feelings it brings my heart are priceless.
Well....what would YOU do if you had
PACKED and STACKED
boxes in YOUR living room, right here at Christmas time ?

I've always heard "if life gives you lemons,
make lemonade"....
So, "if life gives you boxes, make a Christmas Tree...."

hahhhaaa......this so started out as a joke for YOU to laugh at....
but when I was looking for "toys" for this
DIFFERENT KIND OF CHRISTMAS TREE,
memories flooded ALL OVER ME and  made me cry...
Bittersweet tears...
time passes so quickly...
one minute a grand is 2...the next he is about to turn 20....
Oh but how many good times we've had and looking forward to all the good times left.
Now...
AIN'T LIFE GRAND !!
:>)

Love you all and now, I'M THROUGH PLAYING...
I gotta WORK and put up my REAL tree....
.....don't forget to
for 4 chances at winning a beautiful
RAMSIGN
sign.
GOOD LUCK

Darling girl, you have created another happy memory with your boxy tree. It looks like a tree to me and all those sweet levels to work with! Have never seen this sort of tree topper...very cute. I have little trucks all over the house from grands' visits. I find them parked in the most unusual places and I love that. I'll try to remember that even the grands grow up fast. I know the kids did!

Hope that you've been getting a little extra company today. ;D

I totally understand what you are doing BJ. When you are moving you have to pack up an declutter. At the same time, you look at all the things from the past and cry a few tears. I've just been on that path and still there are flashes of it.

Are you putting some of your things in storage? We got a small storage unit and put boxes of things in there to make our house look decluttered and bitter before it went on the market. It works!

I like your decorations.....but why are you moving? It has to be hard this time of year.

Yes, Life is Grand. When you're near. With your sweet thoughts, lovely memories (of people and hearts bigger than Life) and wonderful way to face "adversity"...
Blessings.

P.S. I Loooove the Christmas Tree... also suitable for that nasty piece of furniture you still didn't have time to handle with.

Love the way you have hidden the packing boxes. Very clever of you. Kids and grand kids do grow up so fast. Memories of their childhood is always a wonderful thing to recall. Have a blessed day. Madeline

I love how you've turned the boxes into a tree filled with sweet memories under that sheet. I'm sure your grandson will treasure that Santa some day.

Such sweet memories! I love your sense of humor, my friend. I just finished our 'real' Christmas tree this morning. It was decorated last evening but you know there's always something to tweak. Now the ornament boxes have been put away and I'm done! Off to other decorating! Have fun, dear friend!

I understand BJ, time does pass so quickly, but if it never passed we wouldn't have all the dear momnets that make up our lives! Those are pretty sweet memories my dear friend!

And here I thought it was a piano under that pretty green and white stripe. Really I was wondering if it was actually green and GREY again. I guess they would try to put one over on you again.

It was sweet and the stories made me a little misty. I loved the memories so much. Thanks for sharing them with us.

What a wonderful story you turned this post into with just a simple stack of moving boxes. I have those sweet little things here for Connor and every time I see them I feel the same way. Great idea bj. Don't work to hard!

There's something so bittersweet about Christmas memories involving the grands, who are growing up much too fast. Right smack dab in the middle of a beautiful Nativity set I have a baby Jesus made out of a white sock with a smile drawn on his face in a manger that is made of a Kroger grocery bag - from my oldest grandson's preschool days. I admit it - I pull it out every year, smile and then cry. Those grandchildren are little about 15 minutes.

Look at you! You have no reason to ever be jealous of another persons talent. You are so creative. I would just be bummed out about the boxes and not know WHAT TO DO! you are so creative.

I love all the little homey touches around your 'different kind of Christmas Tree'...

I have a different one myself this year...the only one I have up for now...haven't posted pictures yet. But, you'll see it soon!

I was adding a few ornaments to our tree and the tears started flowing! Jeremy and Nick have the same silly green dino ornie! It is personalized. They are 27 and 19 now! where oh where did the time go? Two years ago Hannah bought her daddy and I miniature snow globes that are personalized. A thoughtful and caring girl, ah...young lady. She is 21! Rebekah foundher stocking where she wrote the name of her favorite hamster "Cocoa". She was lying on the sofa staring at the ceiling the day she finished all her college classes last week! She is 24. A few months of student teaching at a local high school and she is done! I found a hand cut wooden ornament my old boss (1983) had her hubby cut for Noelle. She turned 37 on Thursday! Yikes! Am I getting older,or just better? Oh how I loved hearing your precious memories.
Getting ready to make some more! My niece Chelsea is here from Oregon. We are going to s=treat her to some homemade sLOVEnian food! Noelle and I whipped up two cheese strudels yesterday and today we are trying our hand at a more difficult food! Will take photos whether it is fab or fail! Hugs to you! Anne

That boxy tree is so creative! Only you would have thought of it! :)
