ROOTS

Hi, Everyone...
THIS IS A RE-RUN and my photos leave a lot to be desired.
Please bear with me....
I had so many nice things that belonged to my children's great-great grandparents as well as things from their great grandparents and grandparents. So many of the items were small and I was afraid that , over the years, they would be lost.
I decided to make them each a
ROOTS MEMORY BOX
to hang on their wall.
I bought the box frames at MICHAELS
and covered the back of each in the red print fabric.
That pretty piece of crochet, the crochet hook and the picture belonged to my mother-in-law. I found the crocheted purple rose in her sewing machine drawer after she passed away.
The watch belonged to Mr. Sweet's dad..

My mom, as a young "flapper"....her glasses and some of her lovely jewelry....
That's my dad and some of his pocket knives and a silver dollar he had for years and years....I even put his nail clippers in there. :)

The lady and gentleman in the left, top corner, are my children's great-great grandmother and grandfather...the glasses in the area beside them belonged to her and the glass bottle stopper is from a bottle that was in his saloon, so many years ago. The two gentlemen holding that PRECIOUS baby girl...in the right corner...that's both my grandpa's and they are holding ME !! :)

The sewing notions on the bottom left were my mother's.

 ROOTS....
they are so important!
Hang onto them with all your might.....
they really are
A THING OF THE PAST
and what made you as you are today.

XOXO to all.....

What a wonderful thing to do for your children! I'm sure they will treasure them as much as you have!

I am at that stage in life that when one of my children comment on some 'memory' piece - I ask them if they would like to HAVE it!! Even if it is just something I have had for a long time......

I love being able to reach out and TOUCH memories through the things that have lasted so many years and lifetimes!

This is such a fantastic way to keep and enjoy small keepsakes! I am amazed at the items that had been kept through the years, but they are all displayed in such a wonderful way and they are are greeat little peeks into the daily lives of relatives your kids would have no other way of knowing much about. What a treasure:>)

Please may I borrow this idea. I have so many little odds and ends in an album that would make a lovely shadow box. I could include both families and honor them in this creative way.

Gorgeous post, "BJ"!!!

And lovely new look here! Red White And Blue rocks!!!!!!!

I have to get up a kind-of-a-cozy blog look, for November. A not so cozy in many ways month. So I have to try to surround myself, with bits of cozy. :-)

BJ, what a special treasure and a wonderful way to incorporate these things into your life rather than have them tucked away in a box under the bed. Thank you. You've got my mind percolating.

Hi bj, reruns are good. I never saw this one. Love the shadow box so much. Memories are so important in our lives.
I just read a comment on your FB from your niece. It was such a hoot to hear her say "Aunt Jean and Uncle Bill. We are also Aunt Jeanne and Uncle Bill as you know.

Wishing you and yours happy days.

Whoh! I think I spotted a pair of Santa glasses in one of those cases. It's kind of weird what my mind might be drawn to. I guess I'm in a Christmas mode.

Thank you for the inspiration, bj.
I moved lots of times in the past years and somethings got lost because I didn't have them treasured like this and in the confusion got lost or ruined.

Today we had Grandma Coklin Coconut Pie. I'll post a pictures later.

You're an Inspiration and a Blessing!

Love,

T
