The RED, WHITE and BLUE

"DEMOCRACY is the art of thinking independently together."

THIS patriotic porch just takes my breath away...
"Create a star-spangled welcome", the catalog pages say.

I don't have the buntings they use here...
and I surely don't have the magnificent PORCH they show....
This beautiful photo of a porch is out of the GRANDINROAD catalog.
 I wanted to CREATE a STAR-SPANGLED WELCOME
to my small and humble little porch, too.
NOT just for Memorial Day...
or 4th of July
but  JUST BECAUSE
I love being in THE LAND OF THE FREE and I am very, VERY proud to be an American.
And, being an election year, and the strife we find our country in,
I WANT TO BACK IT ALL I POSSIBLY CAN.
Don't YOU feel the same way.?
FLY that flag....every single day....to support this great nation of ours.

STRIPES on my porch swing cushion....

ok...I'll tell ya my little secret...it is a
plastic tablecloth from Big Lots for $2.00
that I can wipe off and not worry about the weather messing with it....

RED and WHITE STARS on a blue background on a little WALMART pillow....$4.95

A couple of pillows in
the color of the day, RED,
which I have had for years....

and I was off to a good start.

I just bought a yard of dark blue with big, round adorable, white P0LKA DOT fabric
to cover a pillow to add to the mix.
$3.49 yd.

I will tell you that I DID buy a brand new, beautiful flag at
HARBOR FREIGHT for $10.00.
My olden flag was tattered and torn and very faded.
I wanted one that would SPARKLE all summer long.
It's a nice large one and I fly it every single day.....
if, by chance, we should EVER get a rain again, I won't let my pretty flag get wet.
"Each of us is here for a brief sojourn; for what purpose he knows not, though he senses it.
But without deeper reflection, one know from daily life that one exists for other people.
Albert Einstein

The adorable flag on top is a photo in this great little catalog,
grandinroad .
I just fell in love with it but for
$289.00 for 24x18
or
$349.00 for the 35x24,

I decided that I was MORE than thrilled with the metal flag
one of our grandgirls, JESSICA, made for me, years ago.

That's it......on the bottom.
Isn't it so stinkin' cute....!!

I love it MUCH more than I ever would have this one I could purchase out of a catalog...without a bit of
GRANDMOTHER love in it.
EVERYthing goes better with
l♥ve !!

♫♪♪...it's a grand old flag....a high flying flag.....
If you happen to be in the neighborhood, please swing by (pardon the pun)
and sit a spell......
come help me watch the world go by.

On someone's cute blog, I noticed they used a MIRROR on their front porch..
I nearly tore my house apart, hunting for just the right mirror to hang on MY porch. :)
"Always vote for principle, thought you may vote alone...
and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost.
John Quincy Adams
And, of course, no PATRIOTIC  PORCH  PARTY
would be complete without
RED, WHITE and BLUE food.
 HAPPY 4TH OF JULY....
I hope you have a wonderful day.
XOXO bj

What a great post! I love how pretty your porch is. We hang a flag all year long ~ after 911 my husband put up a large flag pole that proudly waves the stars and stripes. Itoo, am proud to be an american.. although I will be prouder if this country goes in a better direction after the elections. : )
Happy 4th!!!!
