4th of July from the past....

Hi, everybody...
this is another EARLY HAPPY 4TH OF JULY post...
I've wanted to post something using THE COLORS OF THE DAY
all this week....not sure I can come up with that many, tho...:)
but...I'm gonna TRY.
We've been celebrating the
RED
WHITE and
BLUE
for days around Sweet Nothings.

♥♥

Blueberry muffins,
crumbled into a vintage BUTTERMILK GOBLET,
layered with STRAWBERRIES, BLUEBERRIES and WHIPPED CREAM.

HOLY SMOKES.....
it can't get much better !!

Some of these photos are from years past..
I am just so full of thankfulness to be sharing another 4th with my family,
I am looking EVERYwhere for the RED, WHITE and BLUE.

RED WHITE AND BLUEberries ♥
COOL PEACE SUNGLASSES...
WHAAAAT ????
You want to see these on MOI...??
Now SOME of you saw me in these LAST YEAR...
and I think I still hear you laughin'.......

" PEACE TO YA, BABY"

♫♪ I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy...
born on the 4th of July....♪♫
written in 1942 by George M. Cohan...
If you haven't seen the OLD movie, with James Cagney,
I HIGHLY recommend you see it.
It is one of those GOOD FOR THE SOUL movies...
Mr. Sweet and I have it recorded and we watch it EVERY 4th of July.

I really using my beautiful LIBERTY BLUE dishes for any patriotic table setting.
My eyes start tearing when I think of how hard we fought for our freedom...
then throw in RAY CHARLES singing AMERICA
and I can bust out bawling.
GOD BLESS AMERICA...land that we love....

.....just before we put MOUNTAINS of WHIPPED CREAM on
this luscious fresh Strawberry Pie..
GOD BLESS STRAWBERRIES....

...brisket and beans....
I never cared for fire crackers much but I always loved the
rockets, sparklers  and all the PRETTY things for the 4th.

I am so olden that I can remember signs around Dallas with UNCLE SAM
on them, saying...
"I WANT YOU"

My real dad didn't go into the military.....I am not sure why. I wish now that I had asked him about that.
Actually, there's many things I wish I had asked him but,
I guess that happens a lot.

My step-daddy DID serve in the army.

♪♫♪ Texas, O Texas! your freeborn single star,
Sends out its radiance to nations near and far,
Emblem of Freedom! it set our hearts aglow,
With thoughts of San Jacenta and glorious Alamo. ♫♫♪

I just had to add TEXAS...with our pretty
RED WHITE AND BLUE.

GOD BLESS AMERICA,
THE LAND THAT I LOVE......
I do feel so blessed to live in this great country.
Oh, yes...we have troubles here but it is
STILL, and always will be, THE BEST !!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY.

I don't know if you saw it, or not but I decorated outside for the 4th a couple weeks ago. I just bought that plate with Independence Hall on it, this weekend! I am collecting blue ones, other than my set, to hang on the wall. Great post, BJ and have a wonderful 4th of July!

Good morning bj, I'm back!!! What a great summer so far. Crazy busy just like I like it!!! I have missed your always awesome posts and this is no exception. Unless you say it is "exceptional" and wonderful. Love those glasses, especially on you. HA!

Seriously, I love this post and all of your wonderful sentiments. You rock as a blogger and I mean it!

I have been so busy and blogging has taken a back seat for a while. I am missing everyone so much.

Happy 4th of July.

What a happy and enthusiastic post! It's really just what I needed to read this morning. The flag flies here, and I continually pray for the nation that I love!

I love your glasses too.
And that movie? Why it's one of my very favorites.

Keep right on celebrating... I love seeing the red, white, and blue. On July 5, the town crews will take down all the flags flying throughout town...frugal little buggers they are, I guess. I prefer to see them waving all the time.

I really liked all your 4th of July decorations. We used to have the family over for barbacue and swim time in previous years but since my husbands illness we will spend a quite 4th, it is to much for him because he tires so quickly. The children know they can come and swim if they want to. It is starting to thunder again I have to turn off my pc. Have a blessed day and a safe 4th. Madeline

This post made me happy! I love red, white and blue and yet I don't have a darn thing decorated here this year. It has been so hot that hanging the flag out in the morning will be the most we get done.
