There's not a BEACH around WEST TEXAS for hundreds of miles, but......

SORRY...I was confused on the date of the Beach Party,
so just .....well......look at my post anyway, if you please.
KINDLY forgive me for sooo many photos..
I tried to cover A LOT in this one lengthy post.
 O, YES !!
There I am, underneath one of those luscious BLUE BEACH UMBRELLAS
looking around to see if JOHNNY DEPP and his pirates are anywhere to be found on this
beautiful beach...
I don't look for sea glass or starfish...
no siree bob....it's Mr. Depp I'd like to invite to my
BEACH TABLESCAPE
(never you mind that he is younger than some of my grandsons....:)
Another funny.....when I googled for his photo, it brought up MY blog from last year....
I used this same photo.
"JOHNNY, are you listening ? I have liked you for over a solid year.....longer, even".
I was going for a
FUN
COLORFUL
INEXPENSIVE
table for this great party.
Before heading to the beach at  WAIKIKI,
I made one of our favorite things in the whole wide world...
MONKEY BREAD for our breakfast.
We DO know about Gorilla Bread but we like the plain, ole goodness of THE MONKEY.

FRUIT....
always, if in season.

The grapes and blackberries seem
XTRA
good this year.
......especially served with MONKEY BREAD.

The adorable paper plates with that amazing PALM TREE
came from the Dollar Tree...
along with the napkins, LEI, glasses.....
So colorful and cute for a beach picnic.

O GOSH....
I love SUMMERTIME colors.

I'd love to go to Hawaii someday...
Daughter went last summer and had an awesome time. Some of you may remember that she got part of a front tooth knocked out by
A SURF BOARD.....:(
...got it fixed, good as new, tho.
Red plastic ware in a white wicker utility holder,
which, by the way, could use another paint job....
maybe SEA GLASS BLUE....
or LIME GREEN this time around.

...turquoise tumblers from the Dollar Tree... just so much fun..!!
I only bought 2, but I think I'll go back
and pick up some more.
So much fun for the hot summertime.
I love the colorful lei from Dollar Tree, too.....
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lei_(garland)
Lei is a Hawaiian word for a garland or wreath. More loosely defined, a lei is any series of objects strung together with the intent to be worn.

Part of the centerpiece for this
COLORFUL and DOWNRIGHT  FUN table
is simply an adorable
GIFT BAG
filled with felt posies....lime green candles light our way.

I made this DELICIOUS potato salad that I saw on PLAIN CHICKEN.
It is absolutely wonderful.
Everything I have tried from her site has really been great
Instead of boiling the potatoes, you roast these with
olive oil, kosher salt and pepper and THEN...
well, you will just have to go over for her delicious recipe..
and would you kindly tell her that bj said HEY ?
One of our favorite SUMMERTIME treats...
Chicken Salad, filled with green apples, grapes, pecans, celery...
O Honey
It goes perfect with potato salad......

Sooo, we had CHICKEN SALAD
POTATO SALAD
CHIPS
and dessert.
.....which was  our ALMOND SUGAR cookies.
THESE were made using the sugar cookie mix, adding slivered almonds
and a cap full of Almond flavoring.
Powdered sugar, milk and Almond flavoring for the glaze.

PROMISE....
YOU CAN'T EAT JUST ONE.

We gathered everything up, put it all in plastic containers and into our cute little ZEBRA bag and took the picnic to
our fellowship gathering.

More to follow on THAT gathering.
Such great food and a WONDERFUL cold soup.
Can't wait to share the recipe with you.

SOOO glad you came to see me today.
Hope you enjoyed the informal table and the simple foods.
And, I hope YOU have some FUN IN THE SUN this summer.
Cute little tootsies of some of my grandgirls and those little bitty toes...CATE...
CATE THE GREAT
...great grand, that is...:)
All on a beach somewhere in MEXICO, last summer.
DON'T forget to add your comment HERE (just  click and it will take you there)

I would love a weekend at the beach somewhere. A cool glass of tea, a lounge chair and the surf coming in. Just relaxing in the sunshine listening to the water....

I'm on a diet so I've got to quit coming here. The food always looks as tho it's straight from a magazine. Lovely food that I'm sure tastes as good as it looks.

Bj, Everything looks fabulous as always. Just saw Depp in Dark Shadows and I don't think anyone else could have played that part as well as he did. I appreciate you linking to the OHP this week.

What a fun post! That chicken salad looks absolutely delicious! That's my favorite way to make chicken salad but my family complains there's too many crunchy things in there. What? The crunchier the better!

Debbie said...

I came here earlier and forgot to comment because I left to go find out if the beach one really was this week. I had planned something else and when ACK! When I saw it.

Anyway, I'm back to say that I did love this whole post and it made me want a trip to the beach. I don't usually long for the beach, either.

Wow, BJ, how fun is that! Everything you chose is just so cute, including Johnny! We don't have any close beach around here either, except a few resorts have faux ones....lol! I'll bet it's about as hot in West TX as it is in AZ! Try to stay cool!
