Well, I watched it AGAIN last night
...and I have now LOST count of how many times I've watched this movie.
...and I have now LOST count of how many times I've watched this movie.
WHAT IS IT about this little 1987movie that continues to leave us breathless ?
Is it THE MAN himself .....?
He was such a great actor......and talented.
Now, for some, he was very handsome....
not so with me but I sure liked his acting.

Is it that no other man on the planet could have played
JOHNNY
as well as Patrick ?
The dancing he did in this movie........WHOA !
Or is it the adorable BABY.....?
(I would KILL for all that beautiful hair)
Is it the awesome, breath-stopping chemistry
between the two ?
Is it that just about every woman that loves the movie
would LOVE to have been on that log with him....?
I think ALL OF IT. combined, made it one of the most
loved movies of the time.
Olden people and young alike seem to have it on their FAVORITE MOVIES list.
FOR ME....
it was THE DANCING
....and the MUSIC.
WIPEOUT
HEY BABY
I HAD THE TIME OF MY LIFE
and the list goes on.
Whatever it was that made this a favorite movie of so many,
I hope to see THE MAGIC in another movie just like it.........SOON.

NOTE: LOS ANGELES — "Dirty Dancing" is coming back to the big screen.
Lionsgate says it is remaking the 1987 film that starred Jennifer Grey as a naive dance student and Patrick Swayze as her teacher and lover.
The studio said Monday that Kenny Ortega, who choreographed the original film, will direct the remake.
Ortega says he is eager to discover and cast "the next breakout triple-threats" to define dancing for a generation, the way Swayze did in the original "Dirty Dancing."
Sooo, until this REMAKE comes out,
If you don't have the DVD, rent it.....
Pop a large bowl full of POPCORN.........and
HAVE THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE..

I love this movie! Something about it is the perfect combination of fun, dancing and romance. I am afraid I can't see anyone else in the lead roles...we shall see. Hugs, Linda
The last song and dance that makes the movie! "I had the time of my life" is one of my favorite songs.
Great Movie...I watched it tooo many times and still can do that many more! Way-to-go-girl! Luv
I think all of us love this movie, my daughters loved it too!
Every time I see a rerun on TV I watch it, maybe for the gozillion time already...but then I'll stop and watch as soon as I pass by a channel again, lol..Love those two stars in it, just perfect, what a great dancer he was, so sad he died so young! HAPPY EASTER.
FABBY
I have the same kind of love affair with 'The Big Chill' ... also find 'Dirty Dancing' mesmerizing.
Hi BJness! Oh, I love that movie too, Patrick and all of the music and dancing. Did you know he was from Houston and his mother was a dance teacher. I guess he came by it naturally. So sad he's gone. He was a great actor.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
I like this movie. It's a shame the actor of the movie is sick and do know if he is gone or not. Thanks for sharing.
Blue Monday
You are a hopeless romantic...just embrace it...lol...he was the cutest thing ever....
I loved that movie, too. It is right up there at the top of my list. xo Diana
BJ,
Love, love, love Patrick...in every movie he did!!! Jennifer Grey on Dancing with the Stars nearly broke my heart with her tribute dance to Patrick! Thanks for the memory!
Fondly,
Pat
This was one of my favs too bj!
This is one of my favorites too! I love that my 14 year old daughter is just as crazy about it as I am.
I have to admit I'm a little worried about a remake...can anyone ever replace Patrick & Jennifer?
Well, I am thinking that the remake will fall so far short of the original, we'll not even be seeing it.
I don't think ANYone can take either of their places...and if I were an actor, I wouldn't even TRY....would you?
xo bj
Now I do enjoy watching this movie, though I've only seen it twice. Are you a fan of the dancing that goes on Monday nights?
I've seen it alot of times and always enjoyed it! Now I watch DWTS!
Hi Bj, I really don't know how many times we have watched Dirty Dancing. It is one that we have added to our collection and I love it. We watch more movies then tv at times because I don't care for some of the new shows they have. I loved the dancing. I still catch myself humming some of the songs. Have a great Easter Your Missouri Friend.
I watched that movie a couple of times and I liked it!
My Ruby, have a great week!

Mine's here.
This is my all time favourite movie. I watch it and wish I could dance. I struggle to explain to people what it is that grips me so much - its just awesome!
I went to see the stage performace at the Kings Theatre in Glasgow - it was good, but the 'Johnny' was no Patrick Swayze!!
I just postd a lnk to your blog from my blog - mostly because it was inevitable at some point in my life I'd create a very similar blog post. No need now, you've said it all!!

I enjoyed it when it came out and then years later my daughter was addicted to it:) I too cant count how many times I've seen it. Loved that music~!
I have seen it so many times & where I used to swoon during the last dance now I weep. I adored Patrick!!
Have a Great Week!!

I love this movie so much and am so amazed by it that I wrote a book about it! Now I am looking for people who would like to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the movie and be in my second book by submitting your comments about the movie.Write stabashnik@msn.com for information or see FB: http://facebook.com/thefanslovestorydirtydancing
THANK YOU!
Isn't Jennifer Grey appearing on Dancing with the Stars..or am I wrong. I thought I saw her last night. I didn't watch it but a few moments..oh well. I know she had surgery on her nose..and..I could have her mixed up with another actress. I do that sometimes..old age! :)
Dirty Dancing is not one of my favorite movies..but my dearest friend since childhood, adores the film and has watched it as many times as you have. I DID love the dancing..but other than that I didn't find it interesting at all.
Only watched it once and probably just parts of it since then..and moved on.
Now I feel all out of whack! Like something is wrong with me but I so loved the dancing. Out of Africa is more my style I guess. :)
Am I still your friend??? :) I know, I know, "to each his own!"
Hugs,
Mona
P.S. I dance. I do! I grew up dancing and can do them all. It's just...it's just...plain wasn't nuts about the movie. :( *walks off slowly..head hanging in bloggy shame!*
Watched movie too many times to count. Love Patrick. He was a Houston Boy. I had friends who even went to school with him.
Loved him in North and South too. Well to be honest I'd watch him in any movie.
This is my all time favorite movie. I can't even guess how many times I've seen it. I loved Patrick Swayze and I think the answer really was the chemistry between them. We saw Bill Medley (half the Righteous Brothers)in concert last week. He sang the song from the film and they had pictures of the film on the screens next to the stage...talk about wonderful! If only Patrick had been there too...
Beautiful tribute. Patrick was a very good actor..
Visiting for RT 2 - hope you can stop by:)
