Celebrate Earth Day

EARTH DAY
is April 22nd
but KATHLEEN wanted to celebrate it a little early on her
LET'S DISH WEDNESDAY...
plus some other great parties going on for Thursday.
I actually have very little to create anything worthy for her party...
but, I had to TRY, at least. :)
The awesome sky above was over OUR TOWN on Monday night and
"nary a drop" of water did fall at Sweet Nothings .
I think I mentioned to you that I own a SUSAN BRANCH
calendar and she did
the adorable art on
APRIL...with
EARTH DAY being her main theme for the month.
Her calendar is really really cute so next year, you may want to to to her site,
susanbranch.com and order the 2013.
Better Homes and Garden inspired me to go with a GARDEN THEME
for this Earth Day post.

I added a small,thrifted white plate atop
one of my Sunflower Beauty plates.

This is a Dessert For One Earth Day post...
Mr. Sweet was away for a day so I treated myself to this luscious dessert.

R U READY...??

This is a plain, vanilla cake with the
DAYUM GOOD CHOCOLATE FUDGE SAUCE
that my mama used to make for me all the time.
Just smelling it gently boiling on the stove transports me right back
to my mother's kitchen and I can close my eyes and tell you just what she was wearing
on the days she would make this sauce.......I can smell her clean fresh scent....
vanilla.
My Aunt Bonnie would put vanilla flavoring in everything (so do I) and she would
always put a dab of vanilla behind each ear. I've seen her do it a thousand times
and her face flashes before me every time I reach for the vanilla flavoring.
OOO
I surely would rather have my MAMA and my AUNT LILLIAN  than this
stinkin' ole dessert..............*tearing

1/4 cup COCOA POWDER
1/4 cup BUTTER
1/4 cup MILK
1 cup SUGAR
Boil gently on medium heat for 7 minutes...taking it off the stove and letting
it cool just a bit.
Then, beat until just the right consistency for pouring.
It won't take but a few minutes until it's ready.....
if you beat too long, it will harden and then you have
AWESOME FUDGE CANDY.
In case you couldn't see the fudgy goodness in the other photos,
here's a closer look.....:>)
P.S. Excuse me, but does ANYone else see a pig face in this sauce...??
"EARL has taught you good to spot piggys."
Love to all.....bj

What a lovely gift to all of us....the recipe for this old fashioned chocolate sauce. I am hungry for an old fashioned sour cream cake. This weekend I intend to make one - topped off with YOUR chocolate sauce!

LD and I are going to celebrate something we used to take for granted - being HOME together!!

Glad your hubby wasn't away long.

I see chocolate sauce and cake in the near future. You also brought back thoughts of my great-aunts chocolate pie, that was yummmie. It was a Sunday lunch regular.

I laughed when you said that about the vanilla--I wear a vanilla fragrance all the time(though I haven't resorted to the extract!)
I loved this post, and thanks so much for your sweet comment on my blog!

Good heavens...I didn't see the whole pig, but I saw his snout.

The sauce reminds me of something that went on at my childhood home quite often as well. I'm glad that you know how to provide yourself a bit of comfort when Mr. Sweets is away...that dessert looks wonderful.
