My Nativity Family is growing.......

Ladies and Gents.....
I still have a FEW Christmas related subjects to talk about...
hope that's alright with you. :))
My daughter, STACY LEIGH, gave this lovely
WILLOW TREE Nativity set to me Christmas, '10
and I had been wanting it like FOREVER...
LOVE IT !!

THIS Christmas, 2011, MR. SWEET
added the 3 wise men to the set.

Aren't they lovely..?!!

I had no idea he knew I had been wanting them.....I do believe he listens to me a lot more than I give him credit for.

The next thing I would like to have is a large camel .........
NEXT Christmas, I need to find a larger table to display them....
Thanks to my family for these lovely gifts that will be
heirlooms for the future generation.
***
Would you believe I went to the thrift store today and found
this amazing CAMEL.....
I couldn't believe my eyes. Who would have thought a lone camel, just what I was wishing for,
would turn up in my favorite thrift store ???

This brown one is the WILLOW TREE camel...
                                   $34.95

I have no idea just how to do it but I sure have the feeling that I can make my little $3.00
thrift camel into a BROWN BEAUTY very much like the WT one......when it comes time to "work him over", I KNOW some of you ladies can tell me what to do....:)

So what if mine doesn't have a CAMEL SADDLE...
it has some cute little ROLLS of something on the back and he is just as cute as he can be....

He's gonna look mighty fine next Christmas, nestled in with MARY AND JOESPH, BABY JESUS and the WISE MEN and all the animals.
I'M EXCITED !!
I'm joining in on the fun at:
WHITE WEDNESDAY
 GOOD LIFE WED.
WOW ME WED.
WHAT EVER YOU WANT WEDNESDAY

How perfectly WONDERFUL!!! Isn't it amazing how God gives us the desires of our heart? I have often times yearned for a certain something and then had this PULL to go in a particular Goodwill (or what have you) and THERE it IS!!
I LOVE it!!

Beautiful, I have a few Willow Tree pieces too! AND... I still have some straggling Christmas pieces out! It helps me to move from Christmas into the New Year if I don't take it ALL up to the attic at once:) Have a blessed day my friend, HUGS!

That must've been fate! I like your camel being white. He would blend in with your other white figurines in the nativity if you decided to keep him white.

The Nativity pieces are quite nice. Glad you found a camel to go with the set. Have a blessed day. Madeline

That set is one of the nicest I've seen...it allows for individuals to have their own sense of things. Love the $3 camel and why can't he stay as he is? There's got to be something said about the "misfit" piece fitting right in at the manger scene.

I like the camel how he is. Love the nativity set! My sister gifted me with a Fontanini angel quite a few years ago. that started my Nativity Collection and every year I try to add just one piece to it but end up adding like 10! It's sooooo addicting!

The camel is beautiful, BJ!
If you manage to find a paint that will stay on the glazed surface, please let us know.
I would leave it as it is.

How about matte spray paint?

Blessings,
DK

I really like the camel just the way it is, I think it goes with your set beautifully! Her's a little story. We started collecting the Hummel nativity set many years ago. I didn't WANT to get the camels because they were so dang expensive!!! But my hubby surprised me one Christmas and I am now SO GLAD he did!!! Enjoy your camel, BJ. It is beautiful. Serendipity!!!! XO, Pinky

i have the entire WT nativity minus the stable. no room for it. i used to collect nativities back in more affluent times. i would buy one every year after Christmas when they were on sale. we actually had a shop here at the time that would put WT Christmas on sale after Christmas. i've never seen it anywhere else. i have 26 nativities, and there have been years when my health caused us not to put up the Christmas tree but we would decorate the house with the nativities. and really given the two what is more to the season? i found a Really Wooley nativity the year my daughter was expecting our first grandchild after Christmas. Rowen waits in great anticipation for it to come out every year. she loves playing with it. in 2008 when my husband was laid off after 25 years my nativity buying stopped. even though he has a job now the pay is so much lower i can't afford to buy one every year. it's a good thing. i have just enough flat spaces throughout the house for what i have. if i had anymore i'd have to choose which ones came out every year. if he hadn't lost his job the habit of buying one was so much fun i would probably would still be doing it. God closed me down when i needed to. lol.

Does that mean if I wish for brownies today, they will just "come to me"? I tried to win that nativity...it is my favorite because it is more subtle that some. I love that your husband heard you...I think they do sometimes! As for the camel...I would bet Kim (Savvy Southern Style) the paint queen could tell you exactly what to do. How lucky for you!!

Dear bj,
Your brown one could become a white one with little or no trouble.
Is the white one too large for your sweet little nativity set?

I bought myself the Willow Tree Nativity a few years ago after Christmas when it was half price. Then, the following year, I bought the 3 Wise Men for half price! lol There's no way I could have afforded to buy them at their full price so I was quite lucky. Since then I've added a few other pieces which I found at our local Value Village Thrift Shop...I couldn't believe that people were actually giving them away. I'm so glad I was there to snatch them up and only paid about $2.99 each!! I don't have the camel, though, so hopefully I'll be lucky like you were in finding one! hehe You were meant to have that camel, BJ, and I'm sure you can paint it brown to make it look similar to the WT one!! Great find:-) xoxo

I love your camel. I have two large ones about that size, I sometimes leave them out all year, they look great mixed in amongst the bookshelves.

Beautiful, and I know you will make your camel match!

Your willow tree set is so beautiful, my grandmother used to keep her nativity set out year round. I have her beautiful set now and I treasure it! I'm wondering if you can't get some flat craft paint in browns that match the WT camel and paint that cute camel to match?
