A Happy Birthday

We had a fabulous party with our family and friends on New Year's Eve....and I, as a blogger, am sorry to say that I didn't get pictures.

Oh , a few photos here and there of  some of the food, BEFORE the party. Once people started arriving, I just FORGOT the camera.
SOOO unusual for me.......am I getting old and losing it ?
NAWH...........NEVER !

We had 22  people share my birthday and to see the NEW YEAR arrive....and kiss the old year GOODBYE......

Homemade chili for FRITO PIE, or bowls of chili with cheese and all the trimmings....
Rounds of delicious cheeses with crackers.....fruit bowls....
pig in the blankets....
several  types of dips and all kinds of chips....
and THESE were delicious. I think it was creme cheese with peppers, wrapped
in crescent rolls....daughter made them and they sure were good.
So many foods and ALL delicious.
I made a Lemon Pie...straight from a recipe from SOUTHERN LIVING...
Lemon pie is one of my very favorites and this recipe has always been so good.
I actually had to re-cook it before it finally set up....but the taste was over the moon.

My 5 Buford Holly bushes lived thru the terrible long, extreme heat of the summer and the la ck of rain, due to the DROUGHT.
They usually produce a lot of beautiful red berries but NOT THIS YEAR.

Then, on the morning of my birthday, New Year's Eve, I went out to cut a few stems and there was
ONE RED BERRY. The only one on any of the 5 bushes.
I believe, beyond a shadow of a doubt,
that it was ONE of my gifts from ABOVE...
♥ ♥ ♥
A beautiful lone red berry for my birthday......
The recipe for my pie is written in this OLDEN and very USED cookbook...
3 eggs, separated (yolks for pie....whites for meringue )
1 can EAGLE BRAND CONDENSED MILK
1/2 cup LEMON JUICE
1 teaspoon grated LEMON RIND
***
1/4 teaspoon CREME OF TARTER
1/3 cup SUGAR
1 Graham Cracker Crust.
MIX first 4 ingredients well, pour into graham cracker crust.
Beat the egg WHITES with the sugar and creme of tarter.
Spread on top of pie, bake for 15 minutes in a 350 oven.
Let cool and refrigerate for a couple hours before serving.
                                                                                               ************************* ***
The book came from a nursing home my Aunt Frankie was in for several years
before passing on. Several of her recipes are in the book.....
I have written favorite recipes in there so I can keep up with them.
ANGEL BISCUITS, with yeast, are out of this world....
I had forgotten about them until I got the book out for the Lemon pie recipe...
Now.......they are on my menu in the near future.
Another adorable black and white cup...
If I could read music and play the piano,
I am pretty sure THESE NOTES on the cup would translate into
♫♪♪ Happy Birthday to you.....happy birthday to you....happy birthday, dear bj....
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU....♪♪♫
hahaaaahhhaaaa...AIN'T LIFE GRAND !

Stacy, my daughter, did get one photo, just
after I blew out the candles on my
WHITE CAKE with FUDGE ICING...the candles.....one 4 and one 7...I had them on the cake, in that order and double-dog dared anyone to switch them around....:)
This is my favorite cake in the whole, wide world. My mom made it for me every birthday....and I wish she was here, RIGHT NOW.
That little red cheeked munchkin beside me, getting all ready for that cake,
is CATE, the great-g'girl...her cheeks were red that night but not THAT RED....
she looks red faced and I look tired.....*sigh
 ...ooo, and THESE....
ANGEL COOKIES, I call 'em..
 Ritz Cracker Cookies Sandwiches
A Ritz cracker, a layer of PEANUT BUTTER.....
a layer of NUTELLA
another Ritz cracker...
Then dipped in  melted white chocolate.......
O HONEY

Now, let's see....any more food hanging around ?
yep....there were PEANUT CLUSTERS...a favorite of my family....

...fresh fruits....salads and crackers....homemade PEACH COBBLER with whipped creme...
Oh, my....so much good food...
I am getting full, just THINKING about it all.
My heartfelt thanks to all my family and friends that made MY DAY extra special.
I have no doubts whatsoever that this wonderful God-given new year is going
to be full of blessings and love.

Happy Belated Birthday! It sounds like a wonderful celebration, full of fun, family, food and love. Who could ask for more? When you were a kid did you think all the festivities were just for you?

I'm missing my mom alot right now too. It sort of comes in waves doesn't it?

I'm trying to get back to normal around here. It was busy, busy in Florida and busy, busy when we got home. Now it is time to regroup!

Happy Birthday! Belatedly! But Hey! I bet you are still celebrating anyway! Moving the candles around would not have worked for me this year. It would stay the same no matter how you look at it! I am a dominoes double this year! And on my next birthday doing that will make me be older....that is not good.:( Guess I gotta wait a few years before I switch the candles around!

Love ya,

~Linnea
