I'll Love You Forever

Hi, everyone....
things getting settled down after the big CHRISTMAS ?
It is slowing down here, too.
Don't know about you but I am ready for the slower pace and a little rest thrown into the mix....:))
Mr. Sweet had been out of town on business for a few days the first part of this month and, as I often do, I love making myself a good breakfast and eating it
on the coffee table in the living room.
I love sitting on the floor and enjoying a leisure meal...
now Mr. Sweet.......no WAY is he going to sit on the floor.....for ANYthing.
He says it's too dang hard to get back up again....

I waited until the day before he was to return before baking this whole can of
ORANGE CINNAMON ROLLS because I would HATE to HAVE to eat THE WHOLE THING....
YEAH..........RIGHT !
If you will notice, I like one roll un-iced...just a tiny bit of butter.
Then, I like 7 iced. ...lol
You will see these little cute, supermarket flowers in several posts as I take a LOT
of pictures when I have fresh flowers.....which is seldom.
The cute vintage polka dot pitcher is from our sweet MARY that lives in
I have a "thing" about cute cup towels...
I must remember to do a post on all of them someday.
My head is so full of posts that I put in draft form before I forget them.
How 'bout you?......do you have ideas for posts floating around in your head a lot?
Meee, too.
Another thing I do....I let my drafts get buried...and I think I've already posted about something and, sure 'nuff...I haven't..
so sometimes my posts might be several months old...oh, well, that's ok.....it's not all about TODAY....
Well, I've noticed the fruit isn't as good now as back in the summer..
well, except for the grapes....they are still just delicious.
They became my favorite fruit sometime during this summer.
Most of the time when I am having my COFFEE TABLE BREAKFAST,
I want something to look at besides the tv...
So this time, I got my basket of Children's books out of the bookshelves
and
WENT BACK IN TIME...♥♥
I have several books written by MERCER MAYER, a wonderful
author of children's books.
The two above, I read over and over and over to all my grands, at one time or another.
 The two baby books above...
oh, my....I bought these for my first grandson, who, by the way, is now 21.
We read them so many times, I didn't even have to look at the words on the page...
I had them in my heart.
He would look at this cover and put his little hands over his face, just like this...
and my heart would melt, run on the floor and right out the door.
I so loved our reading time together.

I have posted about this awesome and delightful book before.....and many...MANY of you wrote that YOU loved it, too.

I've not read it one single time without shedding a few tears...well, sometimes, downright CRYING. It is sooo sweet.
I thought, when I was doing all this reading to sweeties that were so young,
that I was MAKING MEMORIES for THEM...
....but it turns out, the memories are mostly mine.
They have grown and forgotten so many of these times together and yet,
every now and then, one of them will pick up one of these books and say,
"oh....I remember this little book....I remember sitting in your lap while you read it to me"
and darned if my heart doesn't melt, run on the floor and right out the door...AGAIN.

I know, without a shadow of a doubt, the times spent between the young ones and their grandmother reading and holding them close, was a major bonding for all.

YEP....there's a lot more sweet things in the world than
ole ORANGE CINNAMON ROLLS.

SWEET MEMORIES....where would we be without them ?
♥♥♥
I hope you have a GOOD MEMORIES sort of day....:)

I gave both my grandchildren books about my love for them....and I wrote a letter to each inside the book. I read them to them yesterday...a memory in my mind!

What a sweet, heart warming post.
BJ, I have been meaning to ask you this for a long time.. Will you adopt me?

Looks like we were both in a polka dot mood..

I might just fix me a orange roll breakfast in the morning..

I love your view of life. Love love love it.

Melts my heart and it runs down to my toes and across the floor and out the door and down the street. :) Or something like that.

So love this share, BJ. Yesterday & today I actually was taking books from long ago out & getting ready to put them in the children's memory boxes for their children. A couple I am going to share with our newest dumpling Miss M.

Nothing more deelish than an orange roll & cup o'tea!
Happy New Year

My daughter, age 20, can quote long lines from I LOVE YOU FOREVER and is doing it right now. That book is sweet and sad. The rolls look yummy and I am ready for quiet and solitude, our house has been full of people and it was great but I am not used to all that. hugs♥O

Hi Friend. You've hit on two of my favorite subjects...food and children's books. The first time I ever heard Love Your Forever was in college in a children's lit class. Everyone in the room was crying! Of course, my own boys have copies and I've given it many times as gifts.

I have been loving all of your posts lately but not taking time to comment. Sorry...bad blogger.

Your rolls look yummy! I had banana nut bread and coffee this morning and it was so good. I rested today, just tired! Looking to put away some Christmas decorations this week and then get ready for a weekend with my Grand! hugs, Linda

I love those rolls and could eat them all by myself, too in a couple of days. I prefer them fresh though. I will have to look for these books. They look very cute.

They all look very familiar and I certainly have shed a tear or two on that "Love you Forever" book. My sis began signing her letters with that closing years ago after reading it for the first time and she's not changed it since.

We are still in party mode, though things will be slowing by Wednesday for a few. We'll start it all over again a few times before Epiphany. I do look forward to some quiet times...

This is such a sweet post! And I'm not talking about the cinnamon rolls. (Although they look yummy!). You cannot help but smile and tear up reading this. You made my evening! Thanks for sharing your sweet memories!:-)

Loved your post! Absolutely loved it! Makes me wish my grands were closer so I can read to them more often. I missed my chance when they were here. Too busy to read I guess. Last year we gave them a book from Hallmark that you record your voice when you read. I need to do that again with another book.

Yes Dear One, I have books which I read to our first Granddaughter, whom I took care of from the time they moved back to town, and she was 1 1/2 years old. :-))))))) Memories....

And today, she is a beautiful 19 year old college sophmore, meeting up with her college friends, in NYC... For a couple of days. Time flies!!!!

Time flies, but we still have our memories. :-)

"...Wonderful white Winter! We must clap our hands at you: You are old, and we are cold, and there is nothing else to do. You and I are glad, when the snow comes flying down, And ice-drops fair leap out of the air to hang on the branches brown! Wonderful white Winter!

And you too, felt the *need* to put your blog look, back to something more quiet. :-)

It's kind of like --- Ying and Yang, maybe? We loved all the Christmas-y stufffffffffffff, all during Dec.! But now, a wee bit of simplicity, feels good too. :-) Just part of the Joy Of Blogging!!!

(Has anyone written a book, with that title, I wonder...?) :-)

We buy those canned orange rolls all the time too! They sure are good. They are a favorite of my oldest son and his dad. I also have some of those books. They're in my youngest son's bookcase. They are really good.

Love You Forever is one of my all time favorites. I, too, can't read it without getting weepy. I used to sing the "refrain" to my son every night before he went to bed.

One of my political heroes (a rare honest politician), the late Sen. Paul Wellstone, went to my son's daycare and read that book to the children. He got all choked up, too.

Cheers,

What a beautiful post bj...brought back memories for me...I have a box of books too that I read to my boys...I don't know if they remember me reading them to them or not, I'll have to ask them, but I know they hold alot of special memories for me :) That is so wonderful that you made a sweet breakfast and sat down and did something special for "you" and just took the time to remember, and slow down, and relax and think...that's a great way to start out the New Year :)
Happy New Year sweetie...you are already off to a great start!

My kids loved the Mercer Mayer books. When Rachael, my oldest was 8 she came home and told me about the "Love You Forever" book. Her choir class had even sung a song about the book - it seems "Love You Forever" was also a little ditty, so of course she had to sing it. Then when she was 10 and I had her little brother she bought it for me and we both read it to him. Here's another book that will make you cry your eyes out. It's called "Nana Upstairs, Nana Downstairs" By Tony DePaolo.

Dear BJ~ we have so much in common, frim sitting on the floor to collecting "memories of Reading to the little ones". And by the way, still love Mercer Mayer too. I have started collecting children's books again, but this time not for my future grands, but to help my daughter get a library started for her Classrooms (she starts student teaching in a couple of weeks and hopefully finds a teaching job following). So fun to scout for books she is interested in. (I wouldnt let her have the ones I saved that were hers & little sisters).
Love to you~ and Have a fabulous 2012!

I love this post. You are right about enjoying a good breakfast alone. I enjoy those days too. When I am not catering to anyone and can make mine and sit and actually eat it while it is still hot.

The pictures are wonderful too. I love kids books. My kids each have I Love You Forever. It is a beautiful book.

Those rolls sure looked drooling good. I read Love you Forever many times to my daughter when she was little and I think we had every Mercer Myer book available. Most are in the attic now to pass on whenever my daughter has a baby.
Sweet post. Thanks for sharing

I actually have a spiral notebook full of post ideas, BJ...and no time to do a thing about them right now. ARGHH!!!

Boy did the memories ever come flooding back to MY heart and mind when I saw your little books! I read a number of those same titled books to my children when they were growing up. I kept them and am now reading them to my precious granddaughter. I just LOVE making memories! ;)

Blessings,
