Christmas tree, Oh, Christmas tree...♫♪♪

7

Hello, Bloggerdudes,
I am joining in with another of these wonderful CHRISTMAS BLOGGER BLOCK PARTIES...
this time, it is with SONNY
at 2805.

She is having a CHRISTMAS TREE PARTY.
I hope you will go over and visit..and see all the beautiful trees in Blogland.
When we go on trips, I try to bring home a
CHRISTMAS ornament....this cute
CANDY CANE is from our cruise to ALASKA.

♥♥♥ Our two sweet children and grandchildren gave us this amazing and "will remember to our dying day" trip for our 50th anniversary, back in 2010

We had such a good time and a trip to ALASKA was Mr. Sweet's
NUMBER ONE on his Bucket List.
We enjoyed it so much....
Our Christmas tree is just so full of MEMORIES....
Like most of you, a traditional tree with things we have loved over the years,
is the only kind of tree that could be at SWEET NOTHINGS.

I am just like YOU....just to hold some of these precious ornaments floods my mind and my heart with some of the sweetest pictures of Christmases past.

Of Christmases when we had all our loved ones with us...
of those that are gone now, the memories are always strong but stronger, it seems, around any of the holidays..ESPECIALLY CHRISTMAS TIME....

Our little 4' tree sits in a bright red produce basket....I got the idea years ago from a photo in WOMAN'S DAY magazine.

We've always had a 7' tree but due to
AGING...(US aging...not the tree :) it got too hard to move it up and down the attic stairs.
Now with this little cutie, it is no problem at all...it doesn't HURT to put it up and down and Mr. Sweet and I sure do love E.A.S.Y. now.

 ♥ ♥ ♥

I have lots of cuties hanging around the basket...

and I have tons of RED and WHITE going on  here....my favorite
CHRISTMAS COLOR COMBO....

RED....
what an awesome and pleasing color to my eyes.
Such a fun...happy...FEEL GOOD color to use at CHRISTMAS
and all thru the year.

This adorable TEA POT tassel was made for me by one of my best blogging friends...
GLORIA.
I use it all year but I always like hanging it on my Christmas tree...
I would love for you to go over and say hello to GLORIA ...she has had a rough year, health-wise, and would love some kind words to cheer her sweet heart.
She is such a lovely lady and
generally full of fun and mischief.
When you go, would you tell her bj said HEY ?

I have a few colorful, HAPPY clowns on my tree that belonged to my mama.
She, like me, loved whimsy and color at CHRISTMAS TIME....

She was such a fun lady...and seldom got really mad...but, when she did, LOOK OUT, SAM.
She would tell ya off in a hurry.
When she was mad about something,
I stayed OUT OF THE WAY until things were ALL BETTER. :)

THAT'S her...

this little photo stocking has hung on my tree since 1988, the year she left to walk and talk with JESUS.
♪♫♫...and HE walks with me...
and HE talks with me....<><

One sweet memory...
she used to call me just before I would get off work and tell me to be sure and STOP BY on my way home.
She would have a big pot of
CHICKEN AND DUMPLINS
and a Chocolate Cake for me....
SWEETNESS from my mama.....

I think all of us OLDEN ladies and gents most likely relish the memories of Christmas times when our kids were little.

OOO, the delight to see the sparkling eyes and big, toothy grins when they discovered their wondrous gifts from SANTA...
....how good it made us feel that we could make them so happy for so little.
Then, it was such with our grands...
All you young people out there that still have babies at home...enjoy each and every Christmas...you can't BELIEVE how fast the years fly by.

I am truly grateful for my fond memories...
and I take this time to say how GRATEFUL I am to have GOD choose me to be the mother of his wonderful children,
DAVID and STACY.....I pray every day that HE has not been disappointed in choosing ME.

I can always find hundreds of adorable gifts for my adorable girls...

but for my adorable guys, it is MUCH harder.
I really don't know why...they appreciate everything they receive. It's just that I love WOW gifts at CHRISTMAS and BIRTHDAYS.
It seems to me that "they" make more WOW girly gifts than hunk gifts.

Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful.  ~Norman Vincent Peale

I hope you will have a wonderful CHRISTMAS this year...and remember THE REASON FOR THE SEASON.....
and we will all be mindful of our many many blessings.
♥ ♥ ♥
I am also joining in the fun with

Thanks to all the hosts...
and love to all...
XOXO bj

What a cute little tree, very festive. I love this time of the year, with all the bright colors and decorations. I enjoy baking for my family and friends. I like reading other peoples blogs about all their traditions this time of the year. As I grow older I have many sweet memories of all the Christmas in the past. Wishing you my friend a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Madeline

I am enjoying seeing beautiful, small, trees this year since we put up a smaller tree this year. Yours is beautiful and shows that a small tree can be gorgeous and full of memories. Like you, memories of my children when they were little are so special to me.

Hey BJ- It says Gloria's site HappyToBe is currently under construction and can't be visited...at least not by the link you have posted. Thought you would want to know.

Yup. Couldn't agree more with the whole granddaughters are easier to buy for and I don't have any. I just know the grandsons are a challenge. I don't think like little boys. =)

Oh, BJ, that tree is scrumptious. It's so cute that it looks 7 feet tall. Wonderful produce basket, too.

I enjoyed seeing the photo of your precious mom and hearing more stories about her.

Party on!

I agree wholeheartedly with you, it is so much harder to buy something 'different' for the men in the famly. But we keep trying. Your Christmas tree is lovely, even if it's not 7' tall.

bj, Your tree is gorgeous! I love your ornaments and how they bring sweet memories with them. We share the love of ornaments from trips. My tree is full of treasures from trips and gifts from family and friends. And of course it's full of hand made special ornaments from my son when he was a child. Thanks for sharing your beautiful tree. The Alaska trip must have been amazing.

You certainly have some gorgeous decorations BJ! I love the idea of sitting the tree in a basket. That's so cool.

I too love all the memories associated with bringing out decorations each year and recalling all the fun things associated with the very special ones.

Remembering Christmas' past is still difficult but me, but it happens whether I welcome them or not. Music and as you say, my collection of orniments from Christmas' past trigger memories. Seems I always end up crying or they make my throat hurt..but..that's part of life.
My orniments are sitting on the floor..waiting..and waiting.
:) I will do it soon. Very soon.
love and hugs to you, bj!

Buying gifts for guys is and has been a frustration for me. First it was my husband, now it is my son also. I am always done with all the "girls" and am still thinking on the guys!
Your tree is sweet and full of memories. Don't mention the small tree to my hubby just yet ok....he would think that was a great idea!
