LUV....

What I am about to tell you is going to be very hard to believe.
I couldn't believe it myself and I believe just about everything.
Notice this beautiful 9x12 brand new area rug.
That is a HUGE rug...and it's MINE....all mine !
What I love about it is that it has a little bit of every color in my living room.
The rug was rolled for awhile and I have been anxious for the "wrinkles" to work out...

...the sunlight on the rug....
just beautiful.
Background of soft beige, trimmed in a dark brown.
The large rug also came with a 5x7 rug that fits so nicely beneath my
twin blue club chairs and ottoman.
The rugs have just enuf of the blue to bring it all together.
I am searching HI and LO for two awesome white slipcovers for these chairs....
just haven't located what I really want yet.
THIS is the part you will find hard to believe....
The large rug, the 5x7, two small throw rugs and 2 long runners....
all found in a DUMPSTER...
These rugs are BRAND NEW....
New people moved into a house next door to our cousins and these items were
all deposited in an empty dumpster in their alley.
No one has a clue why they were thrown away...
but I sure am glad Mr. Sweet's cousin, MICKEY, noticed them and
told us about them.

The four of us were sitting outside on their patio, under their pretty umbrella table...having coffee and MAPLE donuts.
Mickey walked out in the alley for something, and strolled back into the yard...causally mentioning "I think I see some orential rugs IN THE DUMPSTER..
VIRGINIA and I almost knocked him AND the table over, getting up.
and....yep...there they were...a dumpster full of beautiful rugs.
GOOD THING is......the dumpster didn't have anything else in it. YAHOO.......
Talk about a great DUMPSTER DIVE.........

Oh my gosh...this is incredible, BJ!! They are truly lovely and look spectacular in your living room {which I don't think I have ever seen before}. These people must have been truly unhappy with the rugs, but why didn't they return them? Their loss, your gain!! Love it!

XO,
Jane

NO WAY! How lucky are you? And they go perfectly. I think it's a gift cause you were so nice to that guy that broke into your backyard...hmmmmmm. Now if only a couple of white slipcovers would fall off a truck at your front door. Well a girl can dream can't she? Enjoy your new treasures BJ.

I have found the most amazing things in dumpsters, I'm not ashamed to say my Hubby has hoisted me up so I can fetch them either! But this my dear, takes the cake! Well spotted Micky! Good lookin' out for sure! And kudos to you for snatching them up! We need a little more recycling like this in the world.

Very pretty!
We have a beautiful Scandinavian table and chairs from a dumpster. College kids moving out and I guess they did not want to haul it with them. Lucky for us! We refinished the top, and made a new cushion for one of the chairs. Amazing what people will leave behind!

Kelly said...

You are ONE lucky girl!! The stars were lined up just right for you that day. They are beautiful. That is unusual for someone to throw away perfectly good rugs. You would've thought they would've donated them to charity at least! Well, you're their charity now. Enjoy them. They sure are pretty.

BJ, What were these people thinking? The rug looks fabulous in your room and the colors are perfect. It would have been such a shame if these beautiful rugs had ended up at the dump. Congrats on such a great find.

Now that is a great story!!! BJ I saw some contractors throw some spindles (about 100) in a dumpster one day, nearly wrecked trying to get to that dumpster:)
Dove in.....thru them out, then loaded them in my suburban (yeeeehaw)
They are now being put up around my gazebo!!
Hey-they were decorative spindles AND treated!!!!!wooohoooo!!
Love your rug!!!

Love the colors and the look of your room. My cousin used to live in a place where dumpster diving rewarded her with many wonderful things. Maybe I should do a tour of dumpsters in my neighborhood - I need a rug!
