FLOWERS for the GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICH.....

It was a total accident that I bought flowers in the same color as my
GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICH...
♥ ♥ ♥
I truly SELDOM even BUY flowers...
(it's that dang Social Security Office...they frown on
buying anything pretty ANYthing). :)

But......our local market puts their bouquets on sale for $5.00 a bunch every now and then and I bought 2 bunches on this day...
....I always split them up into smaller, cuter bunches and SPREAD THE LOVE.....!

Doesn't it just blow your mind
how wonderful it makes you
feel when there's
FRESH FLOWERS
around in your pretty rooms.

Growing up, my mother always
had a cutting garden just FULL
of the most beautiful flowers.
She had such a green thumb. She kept fresh flowers on our dining table for as long as the season lasted. Once there were no more flowers growing, we just didn't have fresh flowers.
To my knowledge, she never BOUGHT flowers for her house.
In turn, I guess, I seldom buy them, and probably for the same reason......neither of us could really afford them.
Maybe that's why, when I DO buy pretty bouquets, I am EXTRA proud of them...?......I think so.
I may have mentioned before that my all time favorite sandwich on the whole, entire planet is a GRILLED CHEESE...with 2 or 3 different kinds of cheese.
I REALLY love them on a specialty bread, such as this ITALIAN loaf.
O HONEY
Certain flowers conjure up certain memories for me.......for you, too ?
Sunflowers, yellow daisies, black-eyed Susans....
Mother had these all growing in most of her gardens.
Her very favorite was the white daisies...and roses.

MY favorite flowers include HER favorites.....
and while I LOVE roses, I am not especially fond of the RED, LONG STEM, bought at a floral shop.

Seems I should have titled THIS post as
BITS and PIECES.
*****
I am just rambling this morning, with no cohesive thoughts on this post, so far.
I think, what it all boils down to is that Mom taught me to make my
own Grilled Cheese sandwiches at a fairly young age...
I can remember standing at the stove, putting the skillet on, turning on the
GAS flame, being very careful, just like she told me. And, she was ALWAYS near.

SO, of COURSE I think of her when I make grilled cheese.....!!

......and when I see flowers that I know were her favorites....
That's what LOVE is all about, ya know.
See.........same colors.
....LOL
and, a little cohesiveness, after all...

This bread.....so awesome, sliced a little thick.....buttered, grilled to just the right shade of DELICIOUSNESS...

and, I am totally addicted to
BAKED CHEETOS ! !

"BRING ON THE CHEETOS...
and..
a glass of SWEET TEA"
and put on WITNESS with
HARRISON FORD... *heavy duty sigh

I know this post may seem like I am in WRITERS BLOCK....
but.....not so.
I've just plain been havin' fun photographing
CHEESE and FLOWERS.
(do i need to GET OUT more ?)

* I've had several emails lately asking about the camera I use.
I MOSTLY use my little KODAK Easy Share M341. (It costs under $100)
and sometimes, I use my CANON Power Shot Sx130 IS.
However, THIS one is brand new and I've got a lot of studying to do on using it.
Thanks so much for asking.

If I had a dime for every grilled cheese sandwich I'd ever made I'd be able to keep you and me in fresh flowers for a very long time!

Flowers and food, the very best posts! I have to try making this sandwich on thick bread, that would make a hearty dinner with a salad and soup!

Hope you had a lovely weekend, BJ!

BJ, my kiddo, who is twenty, lives on grilled cheese. She loves them. When she was six years old and first attended daycare for just a few hours a week we would ask her what she had for lunch. She always replied "bread and cheetos." That was her answer every time we asked her for about two years. Your sandwich with the cheetos make me miss her but in a good way. She is away at college. olive

I love grilled cheese too! I love to eat it with cream of tomato soup and a couple of peperoncini's from Mezzetta. Yum! I'm sure your flowers added that special touch to your meal.

Grilled cheese--my all time favorite too--or maybe it's just EVERYBODY"S favorite. I'm happy with the way I make mine, but yours looks even better. I like the idea of different cheeses and nice thick bread. Lovely flowers on the table--they make any meal better. Have a good week. Mickie :)

Hi BJness! Oh, I know what you mean about fresh flowers and how special they make you feel! I love grilled cheese sandwiches too but just use plain old bread! I need to try some fancy bread next time. Lovely snaps, BJ!
Be a sweetie,

I still have a few roses, and some sedum I can use. I don't buy flowers that often, but sams club has a great big bunch for under 5.
Enjoy your flowers and your cheese.
Your pecans are worth millions you know! :)

Hmmmm, good! My favorite aunt always had the most incredible lawn, garden & flowers. She also always had fresh flowers all over her house. My mother had some but not as many. I think that's where my love of fresh flowers in the house began. I rarely buy them for myself too, however, it brings me such pleasure. I think I need to go to the store now!

BJ, this post brought such a smile to my face! First of all, I have never thought of complimentary food and flower colours but I love it.
I kept looking at the pictures and thinking, is that cheese curds? Couldn't be cheezies (cheetos) but darned if they weren't.
Have to admit, you make one yummy looking grilled cheese sandwich, which I like too but don't make often enough.
Thanks for sharing this happy meal.

I had to smile when I saw your little pitcher of flowers. I did the same thing except I picked the poor delapidated things from my yard. Not in good shape but they hung in there for a few days. Yes..fresh flowers do make you feel good. From the store, from your yard or stolen from a neightors yard. YES! I am still undone over my pansies disappearing!! Grrrr

This is too funny...I just had grilled cheese for lunch! lol Imagine my surprise to come visit your blog and find out you had posted about grilled cheese! hehe I remember my mom teaching me how to make them as well when I was a little girl and how proud I was when I could make some for my daddy:-) Love your daisies, such wonderful memories behind them for you. Flowers are something I very rarely buy for the house as well, they're usually just too expensive. Fun post as always:-) xoxo

Yum! I tried grilled cheese with several cheeses this summer, goat cheese, provolone whatever I have on hand, and pesto on home made bread. Fantastic! I try not to indulge too often but grilled cheese is real comfort food!

Sweet post! I actually do splurge most weeks in the winter and buy the $5 bouquets from Walmart. They last all week and I get so blue during the winter that having something colorful and alive on my kitchen counter helps. I call them therapy! As for memories and flowers, my mother's favorite was a gardenia. We even had them flown in for her funeral. I can't smell one without thinking of her.
