Burning the candle at both ends...

Ya'll are probably doing the same thing that I am......

It seems like I am so busy right now...
I seem to be burning the candle at both ends.

I don't know about you but I am at my very best when I am BUSY...
when I am looking forward to my family coming for THANKSGIVING

This year we will be blessed to have several friends spend the thankful day with us.....
Oh, yes....today I ironed the tablecloth for my Thanksgiving Table #1.
With around 20 expected, we will have more than one table, I'm sure.
boy oh boy....so exciting.
This year, we are doing PAPER PLATES....see how adorable that big ole turkey is.
And when we are all finished with those dishes...
IN THE TRASH THEY WILL GO.
WOO HOONESS.....I it.
There will be more time to visit...
play games...
eat... laugh....and love.

We won't be in that ole kitchen all the time, washing dishes....I tell ya...I LUV IT.

Are you using paper this year....?
or will you have a more formal affair?

We fill our plates in the kitchen, buffet style.
A dessert table off to the side...
A drink station...
Very informal....
very fun....:))   ♥ ♥ ♥

As I said, this has been a busy and fabulous day for me....getting things ready for our Thanksgiving together...
studying recipes....I'll use all TRIED and TRUE recipes this year, as always.
Not a good time to try something new....stick with all the old favorites.
...and, of COURSE, Christmas is on all our minds.
I have shopped on line mostly this year and it's been FABULOUS.
So many places are offering FREE SHIPPING...

So today, while looking thur recipes, I decided to make PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES
for the freezer.

I made 5 dozen in no time at all...
and with these delicious cookies using only THREE ingredients, they aren't too expensive to make.
PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES
1 cup Peanut Butter
1 cup Sugar and 1 Egg.
Bake at 350 for about 10 minutes...YOU ARE GONNA LOVE 'EM...

Everyone in our family love these and I thought
I'd do some for them and some for neighbors...
On Christmas Eve, I'll fill these cute tins with
homemade cookies......if there's any left.
Mr. Sweet and I meet each other at the freezer,
sneaking a couple of cookies .......♥♥

I am ready to sit and look at catalogs and recipe books
in my comfy chair...

I've had a full and productive day.....
I am happy....

ALL IS WELL WITH MY SOUL.

I am seriously thinking of using paper plates this year. I never do...but I am just so tired....I can't believe Thanksgiving is in a week...and Christmas right after...I don't think I am doing very well with time this year...but oh well! Yeah PAPER!

I am having a small group so I think it would be really awkward for me to use paper for dinner, but I do use them for appetizers and dessert. I am going to try these cookies, no flour - yippee! xo

I am tired THINKING about all I have to do. We are hosting a birthday dinner for our SIL on Sat. night then we also will be hosting Thanksgiving. I don't do paper plates but MAY use them for dessert, to make my life a LITTLE easier! It is only my daughter and I who clean up, everyone else just SITS. But I will still be thankful:):) XO, Pinky

I just blogged about being way too busy too! Isn't this a crazy time of year? We wouldn't have it any other way though would we!

Have fun getting ready for your big family Thanksgiving dinner. I thin Paper plates sound like a very sensible and fabulous option. It sounds like it is going to be a brilliant gathering!

Best wishes,
Natasha.

I sure hope that you had a good night's rest after all that busyness.

Since we won't have twenty at our table, it will be a somewhat formal affair. It can never be too formal with children at the table, especially if they are two active little boys.

We do have lots of games planned and a Christmas movie, too.

Your table is beautiful...love the paper plates. Have great fun! (I'm sure that you are the best at creating fun!)

I'll be using some of my new brown transferware dishes, but we will only have about 12 around the table this year and with a dishwasher I can handle that. Your table looks so fun and bright and festive, if I had a large crowd I thnk I would go paper too. There are so many cute designs and who cares as long as it holds all that fancy food:>)

I have the same paper plates that you have. I love the huge turkey in the middle. I also have the same recipe for peanut butter cookies that you have. So easy and everyone in my family just love them. Have a blessed day and a very happy Thanksgiving. Madeline

I no longer do the big dinners as they are usually held at my daughters homes. Paper plates might or might not be used this year...but we have done it before. Dishwasher or no dishwasher, clean up is work and takes up a lot of time. I think it's wonderful that we have the option to make things so much easier. I have no doubt your table will be gorgeous and those paper plates are so cute.

We do the buffet style and have two large dining room tables to sit at...always dressed beautifully. We always have a dessert table. Anything we can do to cut the labor and give us more time to enjoy the occassions is wonderful to me.

Cookies with no flour?? I'm already smitten and haven't even tasted them. Making extra for the neighbors?? *sigh* Wish I was your neighbor! :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

That quote has been one of my favorites since I was 11 years old!

"I burn my candle at both ends.
It will not last the night!
But Oh, my foes, and ah, my friends
It gives a lovely light!"

Your blog posts are always a bright touch to our days.

I make that peanut butter cookie too. Only I use a tsp. of vanilla as well. Easy peasy and OH so good!! I also put a choolate kiss in the middle of each one before baking. Think I will follow your example and make up some for the freezer. I love giving food gifts!

Love those peanut butter cookies.......esp for a gluten free person.
Good for you using paper plates. I am not the hostess this year and so glad. It is alot of work. When you do it every year it is nice to have a break.
Happy Holidays my friend.

I really enjoyed this post. I am glad you are using paper - more time to enjoy your guest, which is the way it should be. I am going to try your cookie recipe, is it really that easy?!

How nice that you will have full tables and tummies. I'm with you, more time to play games, visit, and snuggle grands is what it's all about. We are joining together in WA with our oldest daughter. We will have a full house for sure with two new babies. I can hardly wait! Enjoy BJ...

No, we never use paper. We have to pay by the bag to get rid of our garbage! Seriously!
I am for doing whatever makes you comfortable. I wouldn't want you out in the kitchen doing dishes instead of enjoying your family.
Dh refuses to eat from paper plates, and plastic utensils drive him right up the wall, lol. But he wouldn't mind washing the dishes either, so I am ok with it! I cook every night, he cleans up It works!

So glad to hear that you're getting things done ahead of schedule and looking forward to the holidays. Those peanut butter cookies do look good! We usually do a more casual affair at Thanksgiving too. We serve buffet style. We're eating at my sisters house this year. She is setting her tables now and always has them dressed so pretty! She'll get plenty of help cleaning up though.

I would love to be at your Thanksgiving dear BJ, I don't care if it is on those pretty paper plates!! I think if you're having lots of people, they will understand, lol. We're not many but 8 and 2 children which eat out of their Christmas plastic dishes, ha! The great thing is to get together with family and eat great! Lots of hugs, FABBY

You'd be meeting me at the freezer as well! lol I am indeed burning the candles at both ends lately and I don't even have Thanksgiving to prepare for since here in Canada we celebrate it in October:-) I've just been trying to get shopping and decorating done for Christmas.

I think using paper plates is a fabulous idea, especially since they make such cute ones for the holidays. Love the ones you got!! Also love your tablecloth, how fun is that?!! xoxo

I totally applaud your use of perky, pretty paper plates, for a crowd. Wisdom!

Also like your buffet style of serving. Must be sooooooo much easier than all the passing this and that and passing that and this.

Our Thanksgiving has evolved to being at a son's house. So other than my Apple Pie to make... I don't have any duties. :-) "Uncle A." has to make the Dressing of course, but that happens, no matter where we have Thanksgiving. :-)

T-R-A-D-I-T-I-O-N!!

Enjoy your self. But don't get too tired out. :-)

Gentle hugs,
"May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
Have nary a lump.
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize,
And may your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off your thighs!"

Yes, I think most of us are burning our candles at both ends. My sweet dad used to say - if you burn your candle at both ends, someday it will meet in the middle! Trying to remember that before the 'middle' arrives!
