I'm pretty sure I need to take this
EAT CAKE
out of my kitchen.....!!
It keeps reminding me of ALL THINGS SWEET...
and this morning, we are having fresh, warm BEIGNETS..
ROLL 'EM OUT....
....CUT 'EM OUT...
FRY 'EM UP....
...and drain those little square pieces of GOODNESS...
get as much oil out of them as possible...
At THIS point in the LIFE OF A BEIGNET,
it is a little square of BROWN...
granted....a pretty GOLDEN BROWN....
but BROWN just the same.
Oh, they TASTE good...even at this stage.
....especially if you have a tub of butter close by that you can slather on them...
BUT their day in the SUN hasn't happened....... YET...
we can give them a DUSTING OF LUSCIOUS POWDERED SUGAR...
.....much resembling SNOW
Little tiny mountains, covered with a dusting of SNOW...
The kind of *SNOW* that can bring a grown man to his KNEES....
I see caverns...and caves....and dark tunnel places..
...a mountain range of snow peaks..
"COME ON, MR. SWEET....let's eat 'em all up !!"
"COME ON, MR. SWEET....let's eat 'em all up !!"

Please eat one for me so I can save on the calories.
BTW, your photos are fabulous. Looks like a food magazine.

I'll be right over ;-)
Oh, I so wish I could really have a few. They do look fabulous. . Hugs, marty
LOL So you call this a "dusting" bj? That is my kind of dusting! They look wonderful! ;D
BJ, that looks like a blizzard to me, a real whiteout, the only way to enjoy powdered sugar! :) xo
You make beignets? WOW! I am so so impresssed; saving this to make very soon. They sure look good. I am hoping you have removed all the bad calories from this recipe...right?
Rita
Ok the candy bar I just whoofed down could hardly compare to this!
Whew, thank goodness you saved me some! The snowy mountains of suga are delightful, and I just happen to have a spoonful of Nutella here that might taste good on these too....:>)
Take me away from sweets & my ife is OVAH!!! Truly! Oh, you are a tease with all these goodies, BJ. They look deelish!
Have a great week.
TTFN ~
Hugs,

You had me at "Ode"!!!! OMG, my knees are shaking and I feel dizzy! Your pics are outstanding, lucious, mouth-watering, and...well just doggone delish!
Great post!
Oh boy do those look good! I'm right there with you loving all things sweet. Wish I didn't. I'd weight alot less, I'm sure. Thanks for sharing this yummy temptation.
I love them and I haven't made them in a long time. That is the exact mix I have used in the past. My parents always brought me some when they went to New Orleans. I don't think they carry in the stores around here. I can almost smell that fried goodness!
BJ, I could eat that whole plate and then lick up all the powdered sugar! Powdered sugar makes my hubby sneeze (over and over again) so I get a good laugh when we have these.
Hugs,
Sherry
Oh my this is really good. I am not really craving for something sweet.

Bj- I think you are telling us a story! I don't think you saved a single one for us - because we ALL know these are best when warm and fresh....Fess up- They're gone, aren't they?;>) xo Diana
Oh, my those look sooooo good. Just pass me a couple, please.
You may need to get the "Eat Cake" out of your kitchen and I may need to quit visiting. NO, never. I can enjoy the virtual beignets all the while wondering what they are like. After all, it wasn't so long ago that I saw Pat and Vanna dive face first into a plate of them. They've got to be good.
It's been a very long day... and I come home to see biegnets-life is good:@)
I love your sign! I've cut sugar out of my diet, although it's not been a problem for me since my 20's, now pasta...wine...well, you get the picture. Awesome recipe, and wonderful pics, tami
Awww now I am hungry! Wish i can taste those!
Mmmmmmmmm.........YUMMO! I've actually had these delectable little treats at the Cafe DuMonde in New Orleans.... such a treat with some nice blues playing right on the street by us... Wish I had one of those little goodies right now, actually!
(And there was powdered sugar EVERYWHERE!!!!)
Blessings,
Spencer
I know now that there is a reason you are not my neighbor. I would have to have double doors put on my house so I could get in and out. I love sweets...bet you guessed that! Oh, those look soooo good.
My father's retirement home was on the MS Gulf Coast, not to far from New Orleans. The Beignets there were outstanding, served warm and the powdered sugar on top would melt into a sort of glaze, making the treat even better! With a side of bacon, it was a great breakfast (not necessarily good for you, but very good anyway :)

Ah! ~ Fond memories of beignets in New Orleans at Cafe du Monde ~thanks, namaste, Carol (A Creative Harbor) Happy RT ^_^
Good grief those photos are amazing. I can almost taste that sweet powder sugar dusted over the every so slight crunch of the fried sweet treat. *sigh*
Oh Beignets! A little piece of heaven! I have that mix in my pantry...I should bust it out, but I will have to invite people over so I do not eat them all myself!
Oh my! This may just make me whip something up even with a broken foot! They look awesome. Be awesome with lemon curd too. Just saying....
Hi BJ,
Ode to Powdered Sugar indeed. These Beignets look out of this world. I am drooling all over this screen. Now I will just have to try this recipe. Thanks for sharing and sure hope you are having a wonderful week!

I am going to have to stop reading your post. You are killing me with all these tempting foods.
Oh boy! Such yummy looking things. But then I have never had them so I have no idea of the taste. Seems they must be yummy! Everyone is wanting one. I think I made need to make a wide berth around your house, because right now I am counting calories...okay, maybe just one. How many calories is one little one???
Fun post!
~Linnea
OH MY, YUMMY! I visited Cafe Du Monde and sat with a warm cup of coffee enjoying their sweetness! Yours looks just as yummy:) Have a blessed day dear BJ, don't take the EAT CAKE down!!!! HUGS!
Do you know we were given a box of that mix in a gift basket when we visited New Orleans YEARS ago, at a conference? I never made them...and I finally gave it away. I could just kick myself, now! They look soooo good, BJ!
I'm still trying to find that bread you showed us from Wal-Mart...my super WM didn't seem to have any. Now I have to go on the hunt for Beignet mix, too. I'll google both!
You're a baaaad influence, Lady! LOL

Oh gracious me! You can make poetry, around simple things, like pictures of food. :-)
Btw, I just "loves-me-some" Mr. Herman Cane!!!
"The breezes taste
Of apple peel.
The air is full
Of smells to feel-
Ripe fruit, old footballs,
Burning brush,
New books, erasers,
Chalk, and such."

Oh my gosh, they look so good. I would love to have one right now with my coffee!
BJ, I soooo love your bog. Great photos. Where do you buy the Beignet Mix? Those photos make my mouth water. LOL.
BJ, the black & white stuffed pumpkins on my blog came from Target, last year. I will go see if they have any this time & will send some to you. Mary, from Decorative Dreaming will keep an eye out for them, too, as she has the same ones.
Mega Hugs,
Rett

I shouldn't be reading this. My shirt is wet from drooling. Looks sooooo good.

Oh, talk about heavenly fried goodness! Yum they look delicious! And that p.s.(snow) makes them even more unresistable. Good thing I just had a goodie, or I'd be licking the computer. lol! Hopped over from Rednesday, now a new follower.

You are making me sooo hungry. Your eat cake letters are to cute. I'm afraid I need more of a sarcastic reminder in my kitchen. It will read (A cookie in each hand ... a pound on each hip).Glad to have you following:)
I have a box sitting in the pantry cabinet that I need to use up. You did say they have no calories, didn't you?
