A GUEST POST

Today’s guest post is from Susi, a writer for Arcadian Lighting
a must-shop resource for beautiful light fixtures.

WHEN SUSI of ARCADIAN LIGHTING
offered to do a guest post on my blog...
 I said, OF COURSE.
When she asked me to choose a topic,
I chose COUNTRY KITCHENS FOR COUNTRY COOKS,
because I know how all of us love looking at pretty kitchens...
Well, let me turn it over to SUSI..

Country cooks follow a long tradition when it comes to recipes and family gatherings. A country kitchen follows the cooking: it is warm, inviting and traditional in a comfortable way. Here are 8 country kitchens designed with the country cook in mind.
Country Kitchen Design
Schoone Oordt via
A country kitchen in South Africa is filled with high quality wood craftsmanship that recalls earlier kitchens. Love the fridge disguised as an old fashioned ice box.
Country Kitchen Design
Justine Taylor via
A country kitchen proudly displays its wares in the form of open shelves full of cooking pots and shelves in the island for bowls and china. Wainscoting and pastel colors are charming mixed with warm woods.

A farmhouse sink is a popular choice for many styles of kitchen but looks most at home in a country kitchen. Beadboard cupboards with bin pull handles in pastels recall vintage country kitchens.
Country Kitchen Design
My Home Ideas via
A vintage schoolhouse style green pendant light adds a spot of color to this cream country kitchen. A farmhouse table surrounded by an eclectic mix of antique chairs provides ample seating for large meals.
Country Kitchen Design
Houzz via
A wood ceiling and a classic checkerboard floor give this French country style kitchen an old-fashioned charm; while a vintage chandelier adds some sparkle.
Country Kitchen Design
Ashley Morrison via
Gorgeous wood beams line the ceiling of this English country kitchen. The Aga range is a favorite of English cooks. Lovely sage green complements the warm woods.
Country Kitchen Design

Blissfully Domestic via
A big part of the charm of country cooking is the nostalgia of old-fashioned recipes. This charm is carried into country kitchen décor with vintage textiles, accents, cooking and serving pieces.
Country Kitchen Design

Traditional Home via
A palette of greens and yellows gives this country kitchen a warm feeling.
Eccentric accessories give it a unique charm.
The ceiling lights are unexpectedly supplemented by a lamp on the counter.
Love the lamp, but not sure about the taxidermy.

I might add here that I am in no way connected with Arcadian Lighting.
I simply agreed to having them guest on my blog.
Thanks so much, Susi, for the wonderful kitchen images.
I'm grateful that I don't have to choose a favorite..I like them all.
 My thanks, SUSI
come back to see me soon....:)

I couldn't let you leave without offering you some great
BLUEBERRY pancakes  cooked in
MY COUNTRY KITCHEN....
BLUEBERRY syrup...
and fresh, sliced STRAWBERRIES...

That reminds me that when my brother and I
were little bitty people,
our mother, HELEN, always had a
STRAWBERRY PATCH
As soon as they started getting ripe,
my brother, KEITH, and I would go out
to the garden, in our pj's, and sit down
in the dirt, pick the strawberries, wipe them off..
ON OUR JAMMIES
and just eat and eat and eat.
The weather has cooled enuf that we can have breakfast
out on the front porch...
in THE SWING....
xoxo bj

Those must be the modern country kitchens. We never had one that looked like that. Save me some dessert.

Loved seeing all the kitchens. I was especially excited about the last one...Traditional Homes w/green and yellow because I'm getting ready to paint my cabinets those colors. I've been feeling a little nervous, so seeing that picture helped set my mind at ease. Whew! Your blueberry pancakes just make me hungry!

Very nice images. I can say that I enjoyed aspects of all of them.

The image I best love is of the stack of pancakes. Oh my! So glad that you can finally enjoy the outdoors again. It's about time!

These are gorgeous! Love different elements in each! Love LV's and Marydon's response - I think the ultimate country kitchen is pure function! I think of my husband's grandmother's kitchen the best room was the one off to the side of the kitchen - it was always cool - like a refrigerator and that is the room she stored all her cakes and pies!
Blessings,
Kathy

I love all the kitchens, even though not a one of them looks like mine. I have had country kitchens...but mine really isn't at this house. It is much more traditional. I still love the look of many of the ones in the photos!

I like that idea of strawberries on my blueberry pancakes...never tried that before.
