PIES

THIS is ANOTHER post that published before I was ready. Some of you commented before I could remove it...and WANTED PIE...so HERE 'TIS.

HOMEMADE pies are my FAVORITE DESSERT.....of ALL TIME !  I love it for dessert...I love it for breakfast, lunch and dinner...

I REALLY love it when it's served with
COFFEE ICE CREAM....

Or...any kind of ICE CREAM for that matter.

Don't forget the OLD FASHIONED ICE CREAM SOCIAL coming up on JULY 17th.
IT'S in honor of NATIONAL ICE CREAM DAY....

It's going to be sooo much fun to see all the different ice creams
and the cute ways they might be served.
Personally, MY ice cream doesn't have to be served up all pretty
and fancy...just a bowl full is enuf for me....
Well unless there's.....................♥ PIE....

We have a beautiful very LARGE pecan tree in our yard
and it makes a wonderful crop about every 2 years.

It's large enuf now that it shades most of our front yard but it sure attracts SQUIRRELS....and they are pesky little creatures.
They seem to love chewing on Mr. Sweet's electrical lines and outdoor extension cords.

We aren't sure just how to get rid of so many. The city set out traps for them one summer and caught quite a few.
I never asked what happened to the squirrels...I guess
I really didn't want to know...
THIS year, out tree didn't produce the big, full pecans it usually does because of LACK OF WATER.
My sweet grandgirl, BAILEY, just had to climb that tree last summer..
"Baileeeey.....you're getting toooooo high"
Caught her dropping to the ground and altho it looks pretty high, it really wasn't....

We really had a nice crop of pecans last year. We pick them up and take them to a custom sheller and he puts them all in freezer bags for me. He sure makes it easy for me and is very reasonable on his price.

If I had to chose my FAVORITE pie......??...
HOW could I do it...!!!

A PECAN PIE, the homemade kind, just about brings me to my knees.

♥♥♥
COCONUT CREME is another favorite....and when I make one of THESE for Mr. Sweet, I get just about anything I want...wink  ♥
O, and I surely can't forget ANOTHER
FAVORITE....
CHERRY PIE............................
                  O MY

I do believe that I could almost eat an entire CHERRY PIE

The thing that brought on this
PIE POST
is that I am making TWO (2) pies to take to our HOME FELLOWSHIP dinner.
We have a dinner every single Sunday night before we have our Bible study..or whatever The Holy Spirit leads us to talk about.
Have you ever been in a room full of family and friends and literally FEEL the presence of The Holy Spirit? It is so amazing, it sometimes leaves me shaking. O and how I love it.
But....I digress
ON WITH THE PIE MAKING....

My Aunt Lola gave me this pie crust recipe in 1967 and I have used it ever since....not once having it fail.
She named it right...NEVER FAIL PIE CRUST.

She was such a good cook. The thing I remember most is that she ALWAYS had a PRUNE CAKE
when we went to see her. She served it with several different kinds of cheese and I always made myself sick, eating so much.
AND, my little girl, STACY LEIGH, gave me the recipe holder when she was in high school. I just love it but nothing even remotely close to how much I LOVE her. :))

I REALLY didn't have quite enough fresh peaches to make this.
I like them heaped high so that the crust is really stretched over the dome of peaches.
Well, I think it will taste good anyway and next time, I will be sure to get more peaches than I think I need.
All the time I was cooking, clouds were gathering...can you imagine how excited we all were...just to see a cloud in the sky.
They got fluffier....and darker....and....NOT A DROP OF WATER DID FALL.
         MAYBE NEXT TIME....

When life gives you lemons, ask for the salt and tequila.

When life gives you lemons, suck out all the VITAMIN C
and yell, "take THAT, life."

When life gives you lemons, take them all and sell 'em on Ebay.
                           THE BEST OF ALL....

When life gives you lemons, MAKE A LEMON PIE.

WE really LEMONADE PIE...
a FROZEN LEMONADE PIE.....
Especially in the good ole SUMMERTIME...

The recipe I used for this one....
                            LEMONADE PIE
1 GRAHAM CRACKER PIE CRUST
1 (10oz) COOL WHIP TOPPING
1 CAN EAGLE BRAND SWEETENED CONDENSED MILK
1 (6oz)CAN OF FROZEN CONCENTRATE LEMONADE
                                     ♥♥
Mix Cool Whip and Eagle Brand milk, then add lemonade to mixture. Put mixture into pie crust and refrigerate....OR...
put into freezer for a scrumptious cold treat.

I meant to use another recipe but lost it before I could try it.
I HAD to get this pie made to freeze overnight, so I tried this new recipe I found on COOKS.COM
One hates to take a dish they've never made before to a gathering of LOTS of people but with THOSE kind of ingredients, how could it be other than AWESOME !! ?
I'll serve this with COOL WHIP and fresh sliced lemon curls.
NOTE: BE sure not to use more lemonade than called for.

A fresh peach pie is awfully hard to beat..
If you like them too, this is a really fast and easy  RECIPE you might like to try.
I plan to serve this one with ICE CREAM
I am joining:

THIS post is waaay too LONG..
Sorry.....sometimes, I just don't know when to STOP.
WHEW...that's a LOT of partying....
hope you will join me in blog hopping .
It's always so much fun.
My love,
bj
OOO...if you haven't seen this 2007 movie, GO RENT IT !
(not sure how it's rated..you might wanna ck if you have young ones watching..only a couple of scenes that might be questionable.)
Just make sure you have one of your FAVORITE pies while you watch it...

When I read one of your posts, I just start smiling. Your personality comes right through...all your cute graphics and mosaics, the jokes and different fonts and colors, I just love your blog!!

Anyway, these recipes are keepers. I am officially in a pie making mood, especially the lemonade pie.

I'm praying you get rain soon. We have been super lucky with our weather lately and I know you have been hurting for quite some time. Take care, BJ!

Jane

I'll have one of each. Just don't care if I get fat!

Wish those clouds would bump up together for a bit of rain for you. Nothing but blue skies here with not a cloud in sight. Praying for rain - for you and us.

I will leave the pie making to you. I would dearly love attending a real old fashion ice cream social. All the ice cream being homemade.

Oh My! I do love pies. Pecan and coconut are some of my favorites. You are very lucky to have a pecan tree. We have black walnut trees, and the squirrels are bad here too.

I have seen that movie, it is good. Do you remember the pie restaurant scene in "Michael"? All of them sitting around eating lots of pies?

You make pies like my mom did, BJ. My sister seems to take after her but I can make the best pumpkin pie around. (so I've been told) Love this post. So yummy!

BJ, All of the pies look delicious but if I had to choose one it would be the pecan. I wish I could send you some of our rain. It's rained every day for a week and more on the way. Would you believe the squirrels ate right through our grill cover..shredded the entire top! Thanks for joining my party, BJ.

This is an awful time of year to be dieting. The abundance of fresh fruit simply screams "PIE"!
You make beautiful pies and I'd bet they are as yummy as they are pretty. Sure would like to have a BIG piece of that peach pie right now...My husband's family celebrates Thanksgiving & Christmas more around the pie than around the turkey. We make a chocolate pie that I could eat 24/7 365 days a year. It is HEAVEN! But like you, I don't think I've ever met a pie I didn't love (well, maybe not mincemeat). *wink

Oh YUM.... I'm glad I just finished my lunch.... otherwise, I think I might be in trouble..... Mmmmmmm...... PECAN pie...and what a lucky chickie you are to have your very own supply. I have a friend who makes the very best pecan pie... When I asked her what her recipe was, she said it's on the Karo syrup and she just adds a lot of extra love. :-)
