FUDGE...MOM'S way or YOUR way...

THE FOLLOWING IS
MOM'S WAY....

THIS is the post that published before I even had the photos or words on here.
NOW...I COULD blame it on BLOGGER and NO one would ever be the wiser...
but since I LOVE YA'LL so much, I will tell you what happened.
Many time, when something I see sparks an idea for a post, I quickly type a heading and
often times, I type in the blog that sparked the idea.
THEN, I can go back later, post the pictures, write my post and, WALLA...
I DIDN'T FORGET IT.

THIS TIME...I hit the PUBLISH POST button
and nearly had a STROKE trying to get it back!

SOOO, for all you CHOCOLATE LOVERS...
HERE IT IS !

There's not too many things I love more than FUDGE.....
GOD.
FAMILY...
JOHNNY CASH...
We made this candy all the time when I was growing up, just my mom and I.
We always had such a good time together while making it....
I am thinking that's one reason I still like it so much.....
....a comfort food......
.... thoughts of my little mother.
I would LOVE to make it just one more time...with her......

I am OLDEN...but believe me, you NEVER get too old to miss your mom.

A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie.  ~Tenneva Jordan
♥♥♥♥♥♥

When we made fudge, the smell of chocolate filled the entire house back then....
and still does today.
I never smell chocolate, especially hot, bubbly chocolate, that I don't think of
my childhood and my mother.....

......and the friend that lived across the alley that joined me almost every weekend, during Jr.High, to spend the night and....make FUDGE.

I use the recipe that was on the cans of HERSHEY'S COCOA years ago......

but THIS way....
my MOM'S WAY of making fudge,
took a long long time to make...
It had to boil and boil and reach a certain degree...
then you had to mix mix mix until it FINALLY, MIGHT get hard.
"O, the sweating of it all......."

THERE MUST BE AN EASIER WAY...

♥♥♥
 OMYGOSH....
EASIEST EVER FUDGE
  • 3 c semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 14oz can sweetened condensed milk
  • dash salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1. Line an 8 x 8 inch metal pan with aluminum foil.
2. In a medium sauce pan, combine the chocolate chips with the condensed milk and salt. Heat over low until chocolate melts, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla. Fudge mixture should be smooth and gloss. Spread fudge mixture in prepared pan.

3. Allow fudge to cool in refrigerator for at least 2 hours. To cut, lift foil out of pan and then peel off of fudge. Cut fudge into 64 small squares. Keep refrigerated in an air-tight container.
I haven't tried CATS AND CASSEROLES fudge recipe yet but...
I SURE AM GOING TO....
JUST AS SOON AS I CAN..
If YOU make it before I do, will you kindly mail me a piece let me know how it tastes ?

Well, I just HAD to make this 'cause a couple of grandgirls
are on their way over to spend the night with me..
THEY NEED FUDGE...

DARK AND RICH...

 Wanna lick the pan?
Mr. Sweet accuses me of leaving too much in the pan so I can just eat it with a spoon...!
This is very tasty...not the same texture as the
OLD FASHIONED FUDGE CANDY.....
but very good.
It doesn't ever get *hard* like the old fashioned fudge and..
it didn't last long enuf to *store in an air tight container...*

I hope ya'll have a
CHOCOLATE DAY !!

Oh, BJ, I can't tell how many times I've hit that "publish" button by mistake when I meant to hit the "save" button! lol I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who does that! hehe

Fudge...now that is a 5 letter word that is so close to my heart...and on my thighs and waist! lol I simply adore fudge and would eat it every day if I could. I loved reading of your memories of making fudge with your mom:-) Such a special time in your life. The recipe you share here is very similar to the one I use. It's so delicious, isn't it!! If you take a look on my recipe blog (the link is on my sidebar), you'll see the recipe for the Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge that I make often, it's so easy to make and absolutely delicious. xoxo

Hi BJ I just had the most fun reading your choc post! Put a smile on my dail instantly. I had some ginger fudge the other day which at first I wasn't going to taste and then I was smitten. Bad move...thank you for stopping by my blog. Going to Alaska is on my list. Going to see wildlife is a magic experience and I never ever tire of it. So I do hope that you get to experience it...

My favorite fudge is the old fashioned grainy kind that cooks forever! I ususally don't make it except on a long cold winter day. My gas stove heats up the house too much in summer!

Nothing smells better than chocolate cooking...it is only 9:54in the morning and I want chocolate now! My dad had a friend make fudge when he came to visit. He used a can of ready made frosting and 12 oz. of melted chocolate chips...plus some nuts stirred in. Dad said it was really good and easily made in the microwave. I haven't tried it. Hubby doesn't like chocolate, so you know what would happen if I made fudge:)

Oh...the smell of homemade vegetable soup cooking reminds me of my mom.

BJ, there isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss my sweet mom and I'm 60 years old. She was a hoot! Oh how I love fudge. I make the quick fudge recipe all the time. While it isn't quite as good as the old fashioned type it will sure hit the spot during a chocolate craving.

Kathleen said...

Oh I think I need a piece of chocolate.
I am going to try that easy one. I will let you know! My mom never made fudge. I can only take a tiny piece of it!

Good Day, B.J....

I know what you mean about your mother...I miss mine, too, and would love to nestle in her arms again, or even hear her say, "Do you want a cup of tea?" I loved how you described your fudge making times with your mom.

This post was fun!!I loved your illustrations, and the fun lettering.
O, I do like chocolate very much, but have never been a real fudge fan, as it always seemed too sweet. But this recipe sounds yummy-licious, and I am looking forward to giving it a whirl.

I like that it doesn't have extra sugar added, as I do like sweets, but not too sweet, and I am trying to lessen my sugar intake (trying is the operative word here).

Thank you for the recipe, and the big smiles...

Enjoy a glorious day,
Marianne
