PICNICS
FLIP FLOPS
CAPS
SUNGLASSES and more.....
**
After getting
all my ducks in a row....
I decided that MR. SWEET and I should have a small picnic...
in the park....
by the lake....beneath a huge tree....
this tree isn't nearly large enuf, tho....and, it seems to be occupied anyway!

.....but here is a big, old Oak tree...

IT was hot this day...hot and so SO humid...
but less than the 100 plus degrees we've been having.
I think it was only 98 degrees this day....:O
Yes, 'mam...I did wear my yellow flip flops...
Our menu on this hot, muggy but very delightful day...
Hot Dogs
Chips
Watermelon
Fresh, juicy pears, straight from the Farmers Market...
AND NO ANTS !
we even picked up a beautiful, summertime bouquet.....*sigh....
I loved that they wrapped the flowers in brown  paper with twine string..I am such a romantic....

Days like this will live in memory always.
I remember, long long ago, going on picnics with my family, cousins, aunts and uncles..
I had so much fun...and will NEVER forget them.

If you get a chance, pack up a picnic lunch sometime this summer and make some wonderful
summertime memories.

ICY cold STRAWBERRY LEMONADE..it tasted so goooood......

The thing that tasted the best to us that day......
THE ICY LEMONADE !!
I think we drank the whole container !!
Then, the cold, sweet watermelon and juicy pears..
The hot dogs ?? We went back home, Mr. Sweet cooked them on the grill
and we sat under the air conditioner to eat them !!!!
Our little lake at the park only 4 blocks from SWEET NOTHINGS COTTAGE
is so low of water.
Rains have danced all around us here on the Plains of West Texas but drops have yet to fall.

Thank goodness trees this size just send their long roots right down for the water they need to grow this large..
Especially here in this dry part of Texas.
Ya'll have a blessed and grace-filled day...
OH, I know....why don't you just pack up a lunch and head out for a picnic....?

I'm a romantic too, BJ. It's the little details in life that really excite me.

What a sweet picnic. I hope you are having a wonderful weekend. Try to stay cool!

A lovely picnic. That huge tree is very beautiful – I hope it will get enough water this summer.

You're a romantic, no doubt about it - but I love that you encourage others to be that way too. Life is too short to be utilitarian!

Your picnic looks wonderful. Still no rain, BJ??? Yikes, y'all are truly having a terrible drought.

Vee said...

It's raining and 58F and that strawberry lemonade is making me thirsty. I so wish that I could share the rain with you folks who would so love to see some. Still praying and praying for rain in AZ and NM, too. In the meantime, thanks for the picnic fun and I'll be sure to pack a picnic soon and haul John off to the mountains or to the lake.

98° F is hot by anybody’ standards – so fruit with a high water content is essential, and quite sweet. Eating healthy in the heat is so sweet! To bad that a grill was not present, the dogs over charcoal is a favorite of mine, and the lemonade would take care of the salty wursts (probably better to consume them in the A/C…)

With faith, we know our prayers will be answered – rain in your case. Yet with the tiniest faith, we can move mountains. So hang on, rain in the Texas panhandle and west will be hydrated as needed. So it is well to focus on a picnic together…

Sounds beautiful BJ, although when it's 98 derees here I tend to cower inside with the air conditioner on full blast! I sure wish I could send you some of the rain we've had here this spring, basements have flooded (including ours!) and we have just been waterlogged. I'll be praying that God sends some your way soon!

I love your picnic. I am a romantic at heart too. I grew up on a dairy farm and there was never a lot of down time..or time for play but on a summer night we would light a bonfire and cook hotdogs on sticks. Mother would make a big potato salad, and there were always marshmallows to toast.

On hot summer Sundays I would sometimes go with my Aunt and cousins that lived next door to a proper picnic usually at the waterfalls on our Uncles farm..there were many, many wonderful picnics there.

Thanks for the memories...xo Diana

Having no ants was undoubtedly one of the highlights of the picnic!

SHADOWY DINNER

A shadow, a shadow, a shadow you say?
A shadow is coming to dinner today?

Oh, what shall we feed it, and what will it eat?
Just toss down a few rays of light at its feet,

And watch its dark mouth gobble up every ray,
But be sure, my friend, you don’t get in its way;

Keep out of the light so it won’t gobble you.
(If I were the hostess, that’s just what I’d do.)

A shadow is easy to feed, so they say,
So welcome your shadow to dinner today.

A beautiful spot for a picnic and all the goodies. What a romantic idea with the gorgeous tablecloth and lovely flowers. I'm sure the strawberry lemonade taste so good and beautiful to look at. Good idea to go home and eat the dogs where it was cool. A lovely day for you and the mister.

Hello my Texas friend...

Girl, that has got to be one of the prettiest picnic lunches that I've ever laid eyes on! Seriously!!! I just adore your pretty blue picnic basket and the yellow flowers look so beautiful with it! I guess I'm a "romantic" too, Darlin'...wrapping those pretty posies in that brown paper and twine...ahhhh!!!

Ohhh boy, you certainly did prepare a feast for you and honey! Looks and sounds sooo yummy right now (especially since it's getting close to lunch here...hehe!) I don't think I've ever had strawberry lemonade...I'll have to try it!

Well, sweet friend...besides the beautiful picnic basket that you packed...I have to say that your photos are some of the most beautiful that I've ever seen! This post should be in a magazine! I love your little lake and...ohhh my...it has been awhile since I have seen such a big ol' oak tree! Texas grows them "mighty fine"!!! Thank you so much for sharing this delightful post with us for the Sunday Favorites repost party this week, Darlin'...it was a real treat!!!

Have a super Sunday!
Love ya,

Love me some flip-flops. The bolder, brighter, and blingier the better.

That ice cold lemonade looks divine.
