delight....

Meet me for an afternoon on the porch swing...
with some of my WHITES..
white dishes, that is....

For our afternoon delight, I have country peach passion tea...
caffeine free herbal tea..... ummmm.....
and a delicious, refreshing piece of homemade
Southern LEMON PIE.....
strawberries and pecans added to the side...
you may have noticed that SWEET NOTHINGS cottage is seldom
without strawberries and pecans...
*
this recipe is out of SOUTHERN LIVING MAGAZINE....
with Eagle Brand milk..
O HONEY
***
a little story here....
when my son was a little boy..from about 4 to 45..
he loved Eagle Brand so much that he kept a can in the fridge
at all times, opened, with a spoon in it. He would take a spoonful,
then wash his spoon (if I was in the room at the time), stick it back in, and cover the whole thing with Cling wrap..
needless to say, I get all fuzzy every time I see a can of Eagle Brand Milk !!
this is my cherished VINTAGE Red Cliff Ironstone
covered sugar bowl...
I am totally in love with it and other pieces by Red Cliff..
I bought this piece, once again, on eBay...
the little pitcher has no markings at all on the bottom....
and it was found at the local flea market, years ago..and, the third white piece is the bowl from The Dollar Tree..

I am still in love with my precious little tea cup and saucer..
this was a win from the sweet SHERRY...I want to thank
her once again ...I surely have enjoyed using it.
little vintage, 2ND TIME AROUND silver sugar spoon...so in need of polishing... belonged to my mama...
The pretty lacy piece this is all sitting on came from Hobby Lobby several years ago...i have gone back to find another just like it but have yet to find one....

  2. What a welcoming sight.
I love the image of your son as a boy, with his cling-wrapped tin.
I cherish the memory of my now-grown son with the fridge propped open with his foot while he drank the dregs of a carton of milk. I was horrified at the time, then laughed, and now enjoy the memory.

  4. Everything looks beautiful. What a sweet story. I haven't thought about Eagle brand is a while. It reminds me of dad who loved Eagle brand right out of the can. Thank you for putting a sweet memory in my heart and a smile on my face.

  25. My goodness, I haven't had a piece of lemon pie for years! May I have a piece of yours? :-)

    DID SOMEONE MENTION SCARLET?

    Did someone mention scarlet
Or was it red I heard?
    Perhaps it was a varlet
    Or a vermilion bird
    That shouted out the color
    That’s dearest to my heart.
(It makes me feel much duller
If red is not a part.)
