CAN I DO IT ?

I must be CRAZY to try to make something anywhere even CLOSE

But I fell DEEPLY and FOREVER in love with her adorable SIGN TABLE..
and have wanted to do one ever since I first saw it.
She is so kind-hearted and generous and tells us just how she painted this table that has appeared in
SEVERAL, WELL KNOWN DECORATING MAGAZINES.

Other than a huge amount of talent, I first needed a table...a cheap table.....
like... one not over five bucks...ya know....
just in case I  RUIN it completely.
Well, today I FOUND THAT TABLE...
and the cost...?
...just 5 bucks plus tax.
It looks like someone wanted to do something cute with it but....it didn't happen.
Red legs and a mottled black top..
It's not in strips, like an old sign such as Donna's but maybe I can *paint* strips on it ??
But, just PERFECT for what I want.
I can paint it all black..
then the white...
then the stencils..
then the sanding
*
I HAVE stencils...
paint...
paint pens....
palm sander...
...just about everything I need but.....
GUTS...
OOO YEAH...
and talent......where do you buy THAT?
xoxo bj

I'm sure you can do it!! Put your own mark on it. If it doesn't work the first time, just paint over it and start again!

I think you can do it. You just have to go for it and remember paint can ALWAYS be redone! But I am sure it will turn out GREAT!!

You'll do great BJ, have fun! Maybe Mr. could use his router and add the grooves to make it look like a sign. He did a great job on the cabinets:@)

I think I get myself in that space when I'm trying something new. I want it to work out and I'm afraid to start because then I'm committed and oh dear whatever and however will I do it..*s*. But I thik thats a forgiving project and you can always redo...have fun...

Awwwwwwww come-on... You've got the guts! -giggles-

And actually, a kind of crafting like this, is not like trying to do a painting with oils or pastels. Talent is, is, is needed to work with oils/pastels, and make paintings.

But this kind of crafting is more about knowing/learning to work with a sander and paints and stencils and paint pens (whatever they are?)

Sure it takes work to learn to maneuver your way, around these items. But......... I'm sure you'll do fine. Even if you don't like the first try... And go at it again... Who cares? Just get it so you like it! YOU are the only one who counts anyway!

I'm positive you have the talent.

I'm just like you in that I stand there and stare at certain projects with a load of good intentions on the one hand and fear on the other.

I will be waiting to see your finished product because I know it's going to be wonderful.

I know exactly how you are feeling. I love that table too!! You have found a great table for this project. I too have thought about imitating her table, but chickened out and left it only painted (it looks good), but not as good as the old sign table.
Anyway, best of luck to you, I can't wait for the updates.

I don't know where you buy it, but when you find out be sure to let me know! I can't wait to see how it turns out. Just think, if you mess it up you can just paint it black and paint big white polka dots on it:)

Hope all is well with you!

Loving your blog header!!

Patti @ Pandoras Box said...

I wish I lived near you so that you could show me how to change my header and make collages of photos - your blog is always so attractive!! As for the table - go for it, you can't screw it up because any mistakes can be "sanded" off. The only thing I will say - and I learned this from my "clock table" - is that once you place anything on the table, it hides all your hard work!! Looking forard to seeing your interpretation!!
