I guess it's the SCALE of the thing...

I don't know why I feel like I want to take photos of
every single cookie I make,
using my vintage scales.
It's not like these scales are AWESOME or anything.
(oh, the fun of PHOTOSCAPE)
Now THIS is what I call an AWESOME set of scales.
This was a giveaway awhile back but I can't remember who was so generous...
I do, however, remember that I DIDN'T  win it...:(
I came sooo close to not buying these PLAIN JANE scales at the garage sale down the street from me.
It was last summer and they were moving.
She had $2.00 on them and....
well....
$2.00 is pretty cheap, I guess....even for something that you KINDA like but far from LOVE.
I had a set of vintage scales almost EXACTLY like these
only mine are in MUCH better condition.
Little solid brass trays, all shiny and bright.
They were very olden when I bought them at an antiques store over 40 years ago.
I gave them to my beautiful daughter several years ago.
I wonder....does she ever want to fill them with
homemade peanut butter cookies.?
Now, I would REALLY love to have one of the olden
grocery store hanging scales.
Most likely I will never find one that I can afford...
OH, WELL....

That's the way the cookie crumbles....
♥♥♥
THREE INGREDIENT PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES
1 cup PEANUT BUTTER, smooth or chunky
1 cup sugar
1 egg
MIX all together and drop by teaspoon on slightly greased (Pam) cookie sheet.
Dipping your fork into sugar (to keep it from sticking to the dough),
make crisscross pattern on each.
Bake at 350 for about 10-12 minutes....until a golden, delicious brown.
When my little boy was in 2nd grade (bwaaaaaaaaa)
the school compiled a cookbook, using wonderful and tasty recipes from the mothers.
This cookie recipe was in it and I couldn't believe there was no FLOUR.
I made them for my baby boy...
he loved them....
and now 47 years later,
I still make them for him....
I just made a batch to take to our home fellowship gathering
and he is in our group...so...he gets COOKIES. ;)
I am delighted to link with

Love you header! I added my header shen I first started my blog and haven't touched it since; so afraid to screw it up.
What a sight that vintage scale! just like in the old grocery stores. You do magic with that Photoscape and those cookies are just perfect.

I don't blame you for taking photos of your cookies on the scale! Though anything that looks that good wouldn't last long in this house, I assure you, scales and camera not withstanding!

You're always fluffing over here. The headers are going so fast...I like them all, too. My grandmother had a set of scales like that...wonder where they ran off to. Great peanut butter cookie recipe, which I have made before, and the peanutbutteriness comes through amazingly unlike when there's a lot of flour to compete with.

I love vintage scales too. I almost bought some a month or so ago, but they were big....not sure if they would work in my kitchen. Now, if I had a island.....I would be buying some in an instance!

Great scales BJ and they are perfect for displaying your cookies for a photo shoot. I can't believe there is no flour. I will have to try those.

Love those scales.
I will have to try this recipe. Gluten-free, yippee.
Thanks for sharing.

The "chef" has a thing for scales, and has collected several through the years. My favorite is a fish scale. It hangs in our kitchen window. Never used it ~ just for interest. And he thinks I have useless collections. LOL
Thanks for the cookie recipe. ~ Sarah

Keep those old scales. I have a new electronic one I got at WSonoma, Terrillon, and it is awful! Every time you turn around it needs 2 very expensive little round batteries. I am glad I kept my old one! No batteries needed!
Your cookies look wonderful!

Well BJ - if you really get tired of filling your scale with cookies, you can fill a little box with them. Then send them to me (: xo

I have never baked a PB cookie without flour, either, so I can't wait to try this recipe :D Thanks for posting it. I have enjoyed reading about your "scale love," too!

Your header is so *pretty*

Oh BJ! What a beautiful post! I just love the way you "talk".
I have a baby blue scale that my Mom used on all 8 of her babies! (Its just like that one in the give-away) Its in the sewing room holding all my laces. I must bring it up & photograph it, just so my DD knows the history of it.

Thanks so much for the idea & for sharing yours.
fondly,
Rett

Your cookies sound delicious. They bake up beautifully, too, don't they?

Do you know that you are the second blog buddy of mine who has a thing for vintage scales?

Me, I get the hives just looking at scales. I don't care what kind they are, they just seem to have a little smirk about them.

Just sayin'...

I would love to have one of those hanging scales also! I have two scales and they are identical. Sort of defeats the purpose of collecting if I can't remember what the one I already have looks like, so I buy another one.

My kitchen scales are like the ones in picture five but black with brass dishes and brass weights.

Thanks for the recipe..the Burlys love anything with peanut butter in it....hope you had a fantastic Easter weekend sweetie...Picket

Oooh, save one for me, they look scrumptious!!

$2.00 sounds like a complete bargain for those scales....even if they aren't entirely your perfect pair....maybe one day!

Hi BJness! Love those olden scales. I don't have one! I'm deprived! Now those cookies - yum - peanut butter is my favorite. A friend was telling my just last week about a recipe for peanut butter cookies with no flour. I thought she was nuts! But I guess not! I know anything coming from your kitchen is DEEEElicious! :)
Nope, I know that's not your little Penguin! :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

I enjoy seeing these scales. It makes me wish I owned a set!

I remember making the flourless peanut butter cookies about 30 years ago. I think it may be time to make another batch. Thanks for sharing the recipe.

I know the reason why you feel like you have to take pictures of every cookie you make...TO MAKE US DROOL!!! lol I haven't made peanut butter cookies in ages so will have to try out your recipe.

Love the scales and I can't believe you got yours at a garage sale for $2!! You're lucky I wasn't there, I would have fought you for them! hehe You know what, I was just recently at a huge antique store out of town and out of the thousands and thousands of items they have there, I don't think I ever saw one scale!! I wonder if they get snapped up right away as they come in.

Now...email me one of them cookies please:-) xoxo
