FAVORITE CUPBOARD LOVE....

Our very own SHELIA of the infamous NOTE SONGS
is hosting a
While I can't say ANY of my kitchen cupboards is my favorite..
I did choose one small one to showcase for this fun party.
My house is olden...1950ish and it has the original cabinets, which are sturdy and in good condition.
The glass inserts were added in the 70's.
Like all rooms in our cottage, the kitchen is FULL of REDNESS...
The top shelf holds dishes that belonged to my mom...
I use some of them almost daily.
So far, I've not broken a one, but if I did,
she wouldn't care.
She was one that never *saved* anything...
she used and enjoyed every thing she had.
We thought, once, a long time ago, that we would put new doors
on the cabinets...they were so so plain.
Then, Mr. Sweet and his trusty router made the cutest beadboard doors
by using the olden doors but cutting groves into them...
and....I was in luv.
It turned out to be a very THRIFTY way of making my
PLAIN JANE KITCHEN
into more of a COUNTRY FRENCH KITCHEN.
We LOVE saving money...
and I love COUNTRY FRENCH.
(web image)
The next thing we do to our kitchen will be adding a
COUNTRY FRENCH FARM SINK..
then, I'll remove the two doors beneath it
and add a
RED AND WHITE BUFFALO PLAID curtain.
Isn't this just the cutest thing ever !!
There's that big coffee cup STACY brought me from NEW YORK CITY..
Polka dot love....
Thrifted bowls and little saucers
Because I AM SUCH A COPY CAT,
I made these colorful letters after seeing them on TINA'S blog,
A little cuteness around the red kitchen....
and, OF COURSE,
I couldn't have you come by today without offering
you some refreshments.
Have a little personal pan pizza and a few healthy raw veggies, dipped in RANCH DRESSING...
After all...it IS a party !

Thanks so much to all of you for stopping by today.

You have an adorable kitchen. I'd never know that you didn't just do it last week. It's timeless...like you!

I've not signed up for the Danish house numbers because they don't match anything here, but they do at another house I know and love so I'm signing up after all.

I love your cabinets and of course all the polka dots and reds and whites! I wish I had at least one or two cabinets with glass fronts, but that just wasn't on the list. It was so clever to "bead board" those cabinet doors!

I really love the EAT CAKE letters. So darn cute!

Your cupboard is so cute and I love that you updated the doors by adding the grooves. How clever! The polka dot dishes are super cute too. I love red and white - always brings a smile to one's face. Thanks for sharing your inspiration and fun kitchen.

Wow. The beadboard effect on the kitchen cabinets is amazing. I would have never in a million years thought about doing that. You are so fortunate to have sturdy cabinetry. I think in some ways it makes it easier to change things out because most people would be reluctant to make alterations on newer cabinets. Not to mention new cabinetry is outrageously expensive.

Hugs, Sue

S'wonderful. I have those 1950's kitchen cabinets..but no one to change them...and Sweet Husband is fighting any changes right now. I am trying to understand. Yours look fantastic. Maybe one day.
What a great "Cabinet" post!

I have never had a peek into your kitchen that I didn't love. I also love your mom's philosophy of using what you own. I'm trying to breed decades of the opposite view out of my mindset.

And I love the EAT CAKE sign that you copy catted. I might copy cat you forward. If I do, I'll be sure to give you copy cat credit rights.

LOVE it all but that curtain under the sink almost made me pass out, bring on the smellin' sauce:)

Your kitchen always does that to me! Add that curtain and OMG BJ!

Enjoy your day my friend! BIG HUGS!

Good morning bj, I'm happy you liked my tablscape today. The painting is going to stay there. I used to have a beautiful old print of a mother and child feeding chickens. I think I am going to sell it. I am going to Atlanta to do an Antique show with my sister's again. Fun, fun, fun.

The table is an antique gate leg table that I opened up for this tablescape. My nine foot harvest table is just too big for a small setting. Afterword I just fold down the sides and use it as a side table. It is great when I have a crowd for extra seating.

I love your cupboards bj, inside and out. Your posts always make me smile. You are a blogging expert and I mean it! This is delightful as are all of your posts. blog art at it's best.
Have a great time watching your grands in sports. I totally understand how important it is to be there for your darling grands.

Love you bunches, Jeanne

Hi BJ,

You and Mr. Sweet obviously make a great team! Good thing you do, with 50 years together ... and counting ....

What a clever idea to turn basic cabinets into beadboard classics. Hope you get that Frenchy farm sink you want soon -- anniversary gift perhaps? ;)

Your beautifully presented refreshments always look so very tasty!

Hope you have a great week!

Fondly,
Bill

It would be so wonderful if one day I could be sitting in your kitchen having a cup of tea with you...and one of your delicious desserts!! hehe Such a great idea of Mr. Sweet's to make your cupboard doors look like bead board, just brilliant! xoxo

I love your cupboard with all your pretty dots!
I didn't join in, no pretty cupboards. I was going to show my pantry, but I didn't want everyone to see the 40 lbs of pasta on my shelf. Inflation is going to kill us and at lest we will have pasta! :)

BJ, you know I love your kitchen, and that sign is just too cute as are your dotty dishes. Love them ALL. I love that farm sink and the skirt. I'd like one of those, too, and some new counter tops. Love your olden cabbys with the glass doors.

I clicked on the link, but it doesn't work. Not sure what is going on, but I'd a chance to win a sign.

I did all white (with a dash of blue) in my cabinet. It's the only one neat enough to show... well, except for the corner cabinets which I'll show next year if Shelia does this again.

XO,

Sheila :-)
